Valentine’s Day usually isn’t celebrated in the office. But let’s just say this one is off the books.
I’ve made a mistake. It was tempting to sleep with him. After all, I’d wanted him for years. He’s the Brent Waltham. Forbes cover hottie. Big billionaire pockets. Every woman’s dream. Off-limits. And now he’s my boss. That’s the part I forgot when I gave him my all. And now I’m about to give him more. A baby. Too bad his guilt got the best of him. He’s sent me into exile. Miles and miles away from himself. But he deserves to know this secret.
Or maybe… he doesn’t.
Book 1 in the Forbidden Lovers series brings you Brent and Cat’s love story. Billionaire Boss is a standalone, full length romance with drama, angst, heat, and a secret baby. And don’t forget the HEA that makes it all worthwhile.
Gah, make your mind up man. He wants to be with her, he doesn't, now he does, oh whoops he's dithering again. And repeat.
A bit of a shame because the banter was great but the dithering really put me off him.
I'm not sure why it's subtitled a secret baby romance when the baby is secret for something like three paragraphs. The ending came from nowhere and felt rushed.
Available on ku, complete story. Quite a few typos in this if that bugs you.
Okay so the book isn’t even 200 pages and it took me literally all day because it talked about irrelevant shit through the whole book. Then Brent the main male character literally spent the entire book pushing her away saying it was a mistake and it would ruin him saying he was too old and he was desperate for a younger girl but he kept pulling her away secretly to have sex until she finally got up the nerve to tell him how she loved him. Then he broke it off and sent her across country to get away from her. She finds out she pregnant and decides to raise it on her own because he’s self centered. He finds out she’s been out of work sick and flies to London, tells her he loves her and to marry him tada the end. The whole book was spent pushing her away... literally a chapter at the very end of the book and they get together. She didn’t put up a fight or anything. It was ridiculous and I struggled to read it much less leave a bad review.
Cat Sherman is 24 and has just started to work at Astley Corp. She has been in love with the CEO Billionaire Brent Waltham since her summer internship with the company last year. Now she has her permanent dream job and working for the Older man who is her Ideal.
Brent has 30 billion $ and is frequently on the cover of Forbes Magazine. He is featured as a sexy hot single 47 year old multi billionaire. He has an excellent reputation with no scandal in his life. He is a self made billionaire. When one of his Managers sexually assaults a female employee he sets out with his team of HR staff which includes Cat to write new procedures and train all personnel on proper conduct and procedures in the work place. Cat is witty and is not afraid to take jabs at Brent. She might be a bit to feisty for a new employee, but Brent seems to really enjoy bantering with her. His attraction towards her grows hot and heavy. Brent fights it off because he is twice her age and she is a junior employee. He will not ruin his reputation and his companies reputation by having a affair with a very young women in his employee.
Cat tries everything she can think of to see and seduce Brent. Eventually she starts to wear him down and he kisses her in his office. But he immediately pulls back. This back and fourth pull between them goes on for months. Brent tries to do everything he can to put Cat out of his mind. But eventually he has to have her. They make love and then he pulls back again. Apologizes to her and stops seeing her. This goes back and fourth through out the book. Brent has Cat transferred to his London office because this affair must stop. He soon learns Cat hasn't been coming to work. Taking days off being sick. Brent rushes to London. Where he learns Cat is pregnant. They both get there HEA
Whether you love him or hate him, Brent makes quite an impression. It's only as you get to know the man behind the alpha that all the pieces start to fall into place. Cat reads more like an open book. Her heart is both her greatest asset and weakness. Billionaire Boss is captivating in it's heartache. Black bleeds hearts dry with an emotionally charged romance as unpredictable as it is engaging.
Cat and Brent will take you on an emotional roller coaster. An older man/boss - younger woman/employee romance. Their chemistry is off the charts but he has no interest in anything permanent. He's whiny and wishy-washy about a relationship. He ships her off to their London office so he won't be tempted. Lots of drama, a surprise baby on the baby. No spoiler but lots of twists and a page-turning read. Well written with strong characters and an engaging story. I read an arc and voluntarily chose to write a review. "I received the ARC from Bad Boy Update"
Is there ever going to be a book you write where the heroine actually makes him work for her forgiveness? Your heroes do some fucked up shit to the heroines and all they need to do to get her back is say one thing and that’s it?
Are your stories going to get to the point where the H will cheat on the h and the h will apologise for it? Because from what I’ve read so far, you’re heading in that direction.
You have some amazing storyline’s and if you could write better grovel that lasted longer than a sentence, I’d be such a huge fan. That’s not to be though because your heroines are the epitome of doormats. It’s so disappointing and low key maddening.
Billionaire Boss is book one in the series Forbidden Lovers by author Natasha L. Black. Forbidden don’t you just love that word- the things it can encompass, sexy dark things!! Forbidden beet the shivers thinking of it. Anywho, that’s this book in a nutshell- shivery. Actually it’s more - there’s a bit of drama and the storyline is intriguingly intense. I could say more but I don’t want to give anything away. So I’ll just say, do yourself a favor and read this book!! Enjoy!!
I gave a 3 stars because at some point I just started to skip some pages because I felt it was the same thing over and over again like “ he don’t want her, then he wants her, then he change his mine once again”. 😩 It was getting annoying at one point.
Otherwise I did enjoy how it began and the characters sense of humor but I was just expecting a little more then where the plot was heading. Especially how easily she takes him back after he ships her off to another location, so he won’t be tempted again.
I was expecting some drama at least in the end, like once she finds out she pregnant and she decided not to say anything let a few months passes and he finds out either seeing her pregnant belly or after birth that the kid looks like him so much that he puts two and two together.
I mean it is a secret baby romance and it literally was a secret for at least what 2 -3 chapter before he shows up at her door. The whole entire book was more of a secret romance between them then a baby. Well hopefully the next secret baby romance I read is more of my taste.
Brent is in his 40’s and his friends seem to all be getting married. He owns his own company and when he sees Cat, the new HR person, sparks fly. Cat is only 24 and when she has a major crush on Brent. They end up in bed together and she falls hard for him but he can’t admit his feelings and she move to the London office. What will happen when she learns she is pregnant? Fast-paced read with plenty of drama and lots of steam. A good read.
This book was not only filled with filler the characters kept repeating the same thought in different ways. It was also filled with contradictions. Why ruin a book by being so politically correct in everything they say and do. I am 50% in and I still do not know what the plot is. All I am reading is nothing. Sexual harassment. One minute chastising an employee then next saying how chivalrous he is then poof how gentlemanly he was to open the door for her and then stating that it 'underlined my femininity made me feel---girly.' Hello? Oh...and What do you call during a board meeting...writing a text that says " he is so hot I considered making eyes at him while eating a banana and suppressed a laugh when she replied, do it. " You can't have it both ways.
It is obvious I did not like the book. Don't write about sexual situations at the workplace and have a holier than thou attitude then have your characters not only cross the line but he used his standing in the company to transfer to another country. This is the problem with the "politically correct people". It's okay if they arent, but you had better be. Oh. Edit, edit and proof twice.
CRANKING IT UP TO PURE GOLD!!! Freaking fantastic! Natasha breaks the pleasure barriers in this high octane, block busting bombshell, ratcheting up the thrill level with such gusto and fervor, blazing this baby together piece by piece seamlessly. Boasting impressive, well rounded scenario's, that punch dead center, ramping up the zeal and delight with such intensity and precision, blasting this bad boy to life spectacularly. Add drama, intrigue, undercurrents, stress and unexpected situations along with a boatload of secrets, you have one mind-blowing adventure. Bumbling through the trials and tribulations, along with a slew of shocking twists and stunning turns, tempting our characters in ways they could have never anticipated. The chemistry sizzles from the pages and suck you in so deeply until you feel the heat and electricity thrumming through your veins. The characters are original and realistic with qualities and depth that transform into amazing personalities. The scenes are so colorfully descriptive it's easy to envision each detail as they play off one another perfectly. Awesome job Natasha, thanks for sharing this jewel with us.
This was so much more than simply a billionaire styled romance book! I loved how Cat was not afraid to let herself be intimidated by Brent, her new boss, even though she has had a crush on him ever since she saw his picture on the cover of Forbes magazine and read the accompanying article about him. She has spunk and sass and is not going to stifle that for anyone, not even Brent! Brent is older and a self-made billionaire, having grown up having to accomplish his goals in life without any of the privileges the majority of his contemporaries received. I liked how he was shown to have retained his awareness of what he had had to overcome and did not let his accomplishments color or alter his character in any way. The snark between Cat and Brent about old-school vs. new ways as well as the teasing references to age was absolutely wonderful! Now if he could have just been as honest and open when it came to the area of his heart and feelings he would have been perfect. Cat and Brent do eventually get their HEA but it takes some very gut-wrenching emotion to get them there!!
My first book from Natasha and I'd say it was a success! This was exactly the kind of book I was looking for.
Plenty of my personal favorites in this one: older man/younger woman, taboo office romance, CEO/employee romance, billionaire hottie H, and a secret baby too.
Cat was a leading lady I could appreciate. She was smart, determined and honest. She was able to hold thought inducing conversations with Brent and it allowed for some true character depth to shine (on both sides).
Now Brent, while I love a hottie billionaire (and he fit the bill), he really did tick me off with how wishy-washy he was and how he jerked Cat around. For a successful businessman I feel like that was a bit overplayed...if he can build up a billion dollar company from the ground up figuring out his feelings for Cat shouldn't have been so hard.
I really loved the amount of story/depth in this book, it was exactly what I have been looking for recently in the books I read. I'll definitely be back for more from Natasha
The premise of the story got me hooked but unfortunately, it didn't leave hp to my expectations. Brent is 47 years old and CEO of a multimillion-dollar company and prides himself on that his life is drama and scandal-free. Cat is 24 years old and the last thing she expects is to work in close quarters with the big boss. Sparks fly between them and soon they are embarking on a red hot affair. Brent spends the whole story pulling away and/or coming back for more and Cat accepts this. He finally has her transfer to his Lindon offices and gets rid of the temptation she poses to his reputation. When he finally comes to his senses, this only happens a couple of pages before the end, she doesn't even offers a token of resistance for everything he got her through and received him with open arms. Like all the hurt, anguish and fear she went through never happened. Very disappointed

Brent is CEO at Astley Corp. He came from humble beginnings to being a billionaire. He is able to get the house and the car and other things that make he job worthwhile. Though he has married before and realize that he would rather work than be married. He settles for flings instead of a worthwhile relationship. Cat is just starting her career at the company. She is smart and very productive and her job. Brent listens intently to her ideas and when they spend a meal together the chemistry became potent. Brent continues to deal with insecurities concerning his age and his level of job authority. Cat just wants him to give in as to what this really is. Things become even more real when those three words and a baby get involved. Will Brent admit what he feels or will he let the first women who sees him and loves him for he is get away from him?
3.5 stars for Billionaire Boss: A secret baby romance by Natasha L. Black. This is book 1 in the Forbidden Lovers Series. This is also my first book from this author, and I enjoyed it. This is the story of Cat and Brent. Cat is a new hire at Brent’s company. Brent is a 47-year-old billionaire playboy who doesn’t think he wants love or anything that comes with it. Cat is a 24-year-old, HR employee, who is witty, smart, and has a huge crush on Brent. These two have an instant connection but Brent thinks it is wrong. HE doesn’t think the age difference and that he is her boss is a good thing. It is something he doesn’t seem he can get around. He is actually a jerk to Cat, and I wanted to reach in my book and smack some smarts into him. He continues to push her away. This book was a short but cute romance. I enjoyed it and I am looking forward to reading more from this author.
What can one say about Ms. Natasha Black, that has not been said before? I, for one, I'm at a loss for words, to describe this one woman's ability to design a storyline that draws the reader right in. I can't explain just how she hooks me, every single time, however.... I sure do appreciate it.
In her latest release, we are introduced to Brent and the younger, Cat. The lust is mutual and soon they give in. As guilty thoughts plague him, Brent, reassigns her to another location, and she discovers on her own that she's now expecting. Cat is a strong woman, that is determined to raise this baby on her own, however, when he shows up, unexpected, all bets are off. Now what?
I encourage all fans of romance, to follow along, and be glued to your Kindle, as I was, as Ms. Black spins an excellent tale for us, yet again.
I was beyond fortunate to have requested an advanced reader's copy of Billionaire Boss, from The Bad Boy Update, in exchange for my honest and voluntarily given opinion.
I would recommend anything published by Ms. Black as a must read book.
Typical older man, Brent, and younger woman, Cat, romance with an unexpected pregnancy thrown in. Cat was more mature than Brent. Brent was the owner of the company but a coward when it came to a relationship with Cat.
There's no back story as to why Brent was so afraid of anyone finding out that he was having an affair with a younger woman who worked for his company. Cat had more courage and didn't care if others found out. She was too good for Brent.
The story was a little slow going even with the steamy, unprotected sex. It makes no sense that a mature billionaire didn't think of using protection. Nor did Cat think if protection when she was aware that she wanted to have sex and even dressed for it. If course, there's a HEA.
This book is well-written, and it has the bones to be a really good story. I particularly liked way the author highlights the age difference between our leading couple. But, I had a pretty rocky go of it with the actual relationship between them. I have to admit, I’m with Sarah Jo on this. I didn’t much like Brent and his constant waffling. And while I loved the moments where Cat stood up for herself and told Brent exactly what he could do with his wishy-washy attitude, I got so frustrated every time she caved and took him back. I enjoyed the humor in the book, and since it looks like Sarah Jo is next up in queue I’m very much looking forward to her book. I received a complimentary copy of this book through Booksprout as part of the box set.
For the most part an okay and entertaining read. I really did dislike how wishy washy, hot and cold the hero was, reeling the heroine in and the pushing her away, I get that it was the point of this story but, dude really needed a backbone and a set. I did enjoy the hero and heroines relationship, the heroine was strongish, knew what she wanted and for the most part stood up for herself. The writing was okay, kept me reading.
I do believe this is my first book by Natasha L. Black and it won't be my last, the littke snippet at the end of this book held a lot of promise.
Another great read by Natasha L Black who once again brings strong, well developed characters and weaves an entertaining story. She does a fantastic job pulling you in with the drama and steamy romance and describes her scenes in vivid detail. I loved the banter between Cat and Brent and enjoyed watching them come together. It's well written, moves fluidly and had me hooked from start to finish reading. Highly recommend this book.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
Ahh Forbidden Fruit. The lure of the forbidden is strong, especially when there’s strong chemical reaction pushing it on. Makes for quite a quandary when feelings of honor and decency get in the way. Such is the problem faced by Cat and Brent. Not only is he her boss but he’s much older, and his company just took a hit from a molesting now fired executive that he found to be nauseating. But that chemistry. So strong. So hard to resist. Caving and then trying to do what’s “right”. Powerful stuff, beautifully told with wonderfully casted characters and a great plot. Highly recommended.

This book has all the feels, and well worth the emotional rollercoaster for the ending. Of course with the title you know she's going to end up pregnant. I like the fact that this book concentrated.pre on the relationship and left the pregnancy until the end. Brent was so caught up on image that he didn't take the time to really see what he had until it was almost too late. Cat is a strong woman and that's what Brent needs. I enjoyed reading this book, and recommend it to anyone who like office romance stories.
This book had parts that were not necessary to me. I knew as I was reading it how it was going to end. Then ending felt rushed. We did not know what the people at his company thought of their relationship since he was so worried about what other people would say. What he board would say. He was a coward and the author mad Cat out to be a booty call. When Brent kept coming back she should have said no. You flew to London at the end of the book and that was pretty much it. So much was left to be said about their relationship.
The story drew me in immediately with it's witty exchanges between Brent and Cat and then, with the infuriating back and forth between them. Cat is a strong and confident young woman who knows what she wants. She is much more mature than the fortysomething billionaire CEO she’s in love with. Brent is annoying with his cowardice and Cat forgives him too many times but, it kept me engaged and turning pages to see how they manage a happy ending.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I received the ARC from Bad Boy Update. Loved this!! It has been Cat's dream to work for Brent Waltham's company. She is excited to start the job where she interned, even if she never met Brent before. When she finally meets him she is instantly crushing on him and loves that he is not afraid to verbally spar with her. Brent is instantly taken with Cat, but his past and their age difference keep him away...for just so long! Yes, you have read the older man/boss younger woman/employee before, but Natasha tells such a great story for them that I couldn't put this one down!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book Oh wow, what a lovely story . Cat has always had a crush on powerful boss Brent. CEO of the company and a man twice her age. The thing is, they have such chemistry together. She never backs down to a challenge and oh boy does she challenge him, which he secretly loves. If only he realised how good she is for him . Office politics is the problem and how to get around it. A great story of love, passion, drama, romance and so much more. Can’t wait to read book 2 in this new series.
This book started with so much promise. It did not come through in the end. The characters were one note. The author did not give me enough character development. The plot was repetitious and quickly turned into a bore. A positive point is that the first love scene was one of the best I've ever read. Keep in mind that I did not say sex scene. Overall this was a book I would recommend for a nice read. Despite its faults I never skimmed or scanned. That is why it is three stars. Keep your expectations in check and enjoy the story.
