It had been fifty years since the war to end all wars, but in launching a final strike against the forces of pagan terrorism, the Church has become a terrorist state of its own, cut off from the rest of the world, and banished to suffer under its own apocalyptic darkness.
Disease and pestilence ran rampant among neglected sinners like Alexander and Kevin, cast out for their sexuality and sentenced to death for Kevin’s illness, but hope is said to lurk deep in the Pagan Provinces, where 'The Beast' is said to offer the ultimate cure . . . but only for those prepared to offer their ultimate surrender.
Surrendering to the Beast is a work of erotic horror and paranormal romance, a story about the lengths to which an Alpha male will go to save his husband. It a story of an act of ultimate, erotic surrender that, if it is to succeed, will change their future together.
Surrendering to the Beast is 11,000 words of Alpha submission, tentacle sex, and paranormal penetration. Adults only.
S.B. Medina is an author of darkly twisted fantasy and bizarrely erotic horror.
They believe in pushing limits, casting aside all restraint, and allowing their imagination to run wild. It’s in stories that put an imaginative twist on our darker passions, particularly those that mix themes of domination with the supernatural, where they feel most at home.
If your reading tastes run to the weird, the taboo, or the forbidden, then you’re in good company.
I first read this story when it came into a bundle with its twin short, Surrendering to the Beast. These two short stories are in fact one story played in two different ways. Male or female, or transgender, gay or straight, plain surrender or complex two-fold transformation. I was fascinated by the idea of putting them together in a single volume, making them an intriguing exploration not only of an original universe, but also of the writer's creative process. I still heartily recommend reading both stories, because the different interplay of genders and sexual orientations really gives a beautiful variation to the common theme. These stories (like everything I read from Sally Bend) are stupendously well written with a smart, biting, prose that manages to be both descriptive and fast paced. There is nothing stale or conventional about either the world building, the dialogues or the imagery. They are raunchy, rude, erotic. The sex scenes are flamboyantly surreal, and over-the-top graphic (in an inexplicably satisfying way!), and yet still manage to give space to plenty of emotion and tenderness. Alexander's story is a journey through a ravaged and toxic city-scape in search of a mythical Beast who can (in very unorthodox ways) dispense a cure for the disfiguring and life-threatening ailments afflicting his beloved Kevin, whose terrible illness has made an outcast from society, at risk of instant execution. This is a very dystopian world, where the Church has become a terrible tyrannical state, and a nation ravaged by pollution and disease. Alexander and Kevin both carry the physical marks of this. It is a courageous narrative choice, in a time where even the darkest post-apocalyptic show casts splendidly coiffed and well turned out characters! But there is also another journey, a gradual surrender of control which is a beautiful sacrifice in the name of the beloved. The most beautiful and moving twist of Alexander’s surrender and sacrifice of Alpha identity comes at the very end… and I will say nothing about it, no spoilers… For all its darkness, it is also an uplifting read, with a proper happy ending! I wish there had been a little more at the Kevin’s healing and transformation. But then I am a whore for disgustingly happy epilogues
