Three Months to Strengthen Your Connection with the Savior

Are you growing closer to knowing who God really is or have you settled on trusting the hard-won revelation of others? Have you tarried in prayer? Have you honestly told God what is bothering you, even though the words may sound harsh coming from your mouth?

Prayer is not simply reciting carefully rehearsed words—it is messy relationship. It’s frustration, honesty, truth, fear, and exasperated conversation. It’s shaking a fist and bowing a knee. This is the language of relationship.

Based on her popular Pray Every Day podcast, Mary DeMuth offers a devotional that unpacks 90 of the most timeless prayers recorded in both the Old and New Testaments. Pray Every Day explores what Scripture says and answers the most common questions about prayer. Through daily Bible readings and prayer prompts you will…
be encouraged when you encounter a God faithful to his people and who fulfills his promises
come to a better understanding of who God really is as you grow closer to him in your personal study and worship
experience humble gratitude as you watch how God unfolds his plan in your life
Find solace, insight, and a deepening of your relationship with God as you pray through Scripture to the One who created you and responds to your deepest longings.

Pray Everyday is a a terrific book of guided prayer. Spanning the course of an entire year, Mary DeMuth uses scripture to guide you through daily prayers that will help bring you closer to the Father and enrich your prayer life. If you like having structure to help guide you in praying, this book is a terrific choice for you. I wish I could have had such a resource much earlier in my life.

There are several things I like about this book. The first being that each day includes the scripture. You can quickly read the scripture and then the commentary. Secondly, these prayers are not the prayers of our long-winded Sunday School teachers of yore. Prayers can be simple and brief to be effective and potent. Thirdly, it is so easy to get in a prayer "rut". Our prayers become these long lists or distracted mumblings. We could all use a refresher on different reasons and ways to pray. this book will also make a great gift.

This book is pretty much as I expected it to be. It's a nice little study about prayer that you can follow for 90 days (or faster or slower, depending on if you want to read more or less, I guess.) It's broken into little daily chunks that focuses on a segment of scripture, has a little devotional about it, and ends with a sample prayer. Personally, I've never really used the sample prayers books like these end with, but the chapter does give you ideas and topics to then form your own prayers around.

The book follows a linear path through the Bible and includes many different topics from praying for others to asking for help for yourself. Each chapter or "day" is quite short, making it something that could easily be added to your day or integrated into your previous Bible study routine.

My biggest issue with the book was that a lot of the formatting seemed a little wonky. It was still readable, but sometimes sentences were broken apart into different lines, or some words were smashed together oddly. However, my copy was an e-book, so I'm not sure if it might have been an issue with just that, or even maybe something about the device I was using.

#Pray Every Day# by Mary DeMuth is a 90 day devotional. Mary is an author and a speaker. She has Pray every d#Pay recorded on her website. This book has 90 days of prayers in the Bible . Mary has personalized the prayers. She explains the passage. Then she applies it to our lives. At the end she has a prayer. This devotional is short and practical. It brings God's word home to our every day lives.

Mary DeMuth's book follows the typical format for prayer books (Scripture, a lesson, followed by a prayer) as she works her way through the Bible.

A gentle reminder of the many reasons and ways to pray.

My thanks to NetGalley and Harvest House Publishing for allowing me to read a copy of the book in exchange for an unbiased review.

Mary DeMuth uses Scripture to prompt prayer topics and she invites her readers along for a thoughtful connection with God and His character. Since the chapters and prayers are not dated, they can be read and prayed on any day. What I appreciate most about her collection is how she stirred my heart not only to pray along with her, but to commit to a more consistent prayer life.

I love Mary DeMuth! This book focuses on 90 prayers from the Bible and Mary provides her biblical knowledge to each one of them. Mary is the host of Pray Every Day, a daily podcast where she reads Scripture (a chapter of a book at a time) and then prays it for her listeners. It’s an app with a devotional as well. Could not more highly recommend!
