Father Francis McNutt has written this small book to encourage families to pray together, not only devotionally, but in faith for miraculous healings of body and soul.
For such a small book it manages to pack in a lot of wisdom and truth. This book, written over 40 years ago, doesn’t waste any space on theorizing or philosophizing. Instead it fills page after page with practical advice on exactly how to pray for healing with your spouse, children, extended family, and friends. It addresses both physical healing and inner healing of hurts and emotions. I have another book by MacNutt and am looking forward to reading it too.
Short and sweet, I found this little book to be chock full of simple truth. The chapter on Forgiveness was very powerful for me. With McNutt’s encouragement and clear descriptions of Christ’s character I felt more inclined to pray & to want to pray.
Very interesting, especially as a healthcare provider, to consider the connection between spiritual or emotional healing and physical sickness and healing.
Simply written, gentle guidance and encouragement to pray for family and friends. Written in 1981 some of the ailments quoted are less prevalent today and I wonder if modern medicine has progressed and replaces some of the need of healing through prayer? On the other hand the chapter on inner healing spiritual and emotional is probably more needed. The concept of soaking prayer going on for several hours is counter cultural to the modern instant lifestyle and I found it an encouragment.
Thought provoking book which reenforced my thinking of how Jesus wants us all to be disciples. Reading this renewed my faith that we have the ability to lay hands on others acting as a vessel for Jesus. If we truly put our complete trust in Him he can help us as well.
This is a beautifully written book that convinces the reader of the rare, yet authentic healer. It's descriptions of the laying on of hands and actual healings is extraordinary. It is no wonder to me that this book has all five star reviews. -Amos Smith (author of Healing The Divide: Recovering Christianity's Mystic Roots)
