I have read the first 2 books by Dr. Durgadoss in the Indus Valley Series. His books are just like Tollywood movies, which contain action, drama, mystery & super fast storyline. As given in prologue there are predecided numbers of books in the series and in each book the cursed warrior will be born with unique capabilities at the time of great need.
This book covers the era of the unjust rule of Islamic Kings over India. These were trying times where mass killing or conversions of Hindus to Muslims were common things. The resident Hindus needed a force that can stop these atrocities. That is when our protagonist Aditya was born. In this reincarnation, he was born with powers to control earth. Raised in Muslim rakhi-brother of his mother, Aditya got an education in Hindu & Muslim religion along with solder training from Mughals and Parshurama. He went on a mission to establish a Hindu Rashtra for his maternal Uncle Hemu. Read the book to know how he fought 22 great battles for his uncle.
As usual, Durgadoss's books are super fast-paced. You will find no extra lines in the story. Every word is tightly around the story. Language is easy, ideal for beginners. You will learn multiple historical facts as well, but you need some serious books to know the actual strategies used during wars. The author has tried best to tie knots of history with mythology & fantasy. This multi-genre books can accompany you on your vacations.
I am not sure which era would be taken in the sequel. Any guess? - Aurangzeb-Shivaji times - Bajirao-Nizam times - Goan Portuguese - Keralites Portuguese times - British era.
This book is an interesting and educative historical fiction that takes us back into an era and let us live it amazingly. With a simple yet to-the-point narration, the book talks about its protagonist Aaditya. There are a lot of facts discussed which might seem overwhelming but nonetheless, the book turns out to be an appealing read especially for the avid lovers of historical fiction.
It's a truly entertaining and well-researched historical fiction sets in the 16th century north India. Our protagonist Aditya who grows up to become a skilful warrior under the mentorship of one of the greatest teacher and warrior from Indian mythology joins the army of his uncle Hemu to protect the Sultanate of Delhi. The author has adequately used the timeline of Mughal invasions and the second war of Panipat to support his story. The author has also tried to provide information about various beliefs, rituals and traditions in the Hindu religion. Simple language and narration style of the author kept me hooked throughout. Overall it was an intriguing read and I highly recommend this to fans of this genre.
If you are into historical fictions , do check this book out. It talks about the karmic journey of Aditya. The backdrop is of the time of Sheh shah suri and Mulghal empire of Humayan. The twists are nicely arranged to create thoughtful plot. Few concepts and mythology of hindu religion that were taken and discussed in between were interesting to read. Language is kept lucid and flow is smooth. The next part will be about the Army of Rana pratap singh where he again takes rebirth.
This is my second book of this author. I read The conquest of the east first. So i was eagerly waiting to read this one. And it was definitely a page turner. As always it has good plot and author has amazing writing skills of we see use pf language and grammar. Indeed a page turner. Overall good one.
The Brahmin Warrior is a complex blend of historical fiction and a bit of fantasy that gives the readers an action packed and interesting take on the 16th century Mughal dynasty.
The introductory page gives a prologue about the series. This particular book is the 4th book in the series. I really liked the concept of this series. Our protagonist had been cursed by his Guruji in his first life due to some tragic circumstances and norw he has to live 9 unfulfilled lives to appease his Guruji. Each of the books in the series is each of his birth.
In his third birth, our protagonist is born as Aditya to a Vaishya mother and a Brahmin father who is the head priest in Rana Sanga's fort. When Babur's army comes attacking, there is no hope left for the outnumbered Rajput army other than letting the women sacrifice themselves in the sacrificial fire from being taken as slaves by Babur's army and the men going head-on into the fight and honouring the Rajput name. Aditya's mother is taken into custody by a Muslim Commander where Aditya is raised and well taken care of.
Aditya grows up to be an excellent fighter and and even excellent war strategic under the guidance of Lord Parasuram. They work together towards bringing back Hindu Raj from the hands of the Mughal Badshahs. Thus begins Aditya's unfortunate journey of living yet another unsatisfactory life.
The Brahmin Warrior is an unique package of action, thrill and page-turning events. You'll find yourself hooked to the story. It can get confusing at times but the author very delicately sketches out his characters and places them in the field. I liked the author's take on 16th century India and what atrocities were going on in India at that time.
I found the book interesting but didn't like certain aspects of the book. Like, even when Aditya's family gets torn apart when Babur attacks, decades later they somehow coincidentally meet each other. Even though the book has elements of fantasy in it, it didn't quite just sit right with the book's story.
The author has also shown the most vile side of the Mughal Emperors. While reading the book I felt that this negative intonation was a bit too much. As was Lord Parasuram's intense desire to bring back 'Hindu Raj.' I felt that the book got too discriminatory at times.
I loved the concept (as I already mentioned before) but I personally feel that this concept could have been written in the form of a book in a much better way. It was an interesting read nonetheless.
It is a book which depicts the historical event during the 15th century, followed by Babur's invasion, the first Mughal Emperor of India. The Author had beautifully illustrated the Battle of Chanderi, which happens to be one of the most epic battles of the 15th century, were the Ruler of Mewar, Rana Santa was defeated.
This book also tells us about a boy who was brought up by his mother and was taught to become a fierce warrior by a Mughal Commander and to fight for his kingdom and for the sake of preservation of his culture.
For those who are really into the historical phenomenon, this book is worth a shot. Dr. R Durgadoss has expressed the story beautifully and has build up an astounding scenario involving all the historical characters of the 15th century.
The Bramhin Warrior is the sequel of The Conquest of the East. This is an action packed historical fiction i have read this week. Let's brief the outline of the story in simple and quick method.
As a result of the Battle of Kanwah, the power of the Rajputs was crippled, but no crushed. Babur marched against Chanderi which was a stronghold of the Rajputs under Medini Rai. This Rajput Chief was very powerful and had made his position felt in Malwa. Babur reached Chanderi on 20th January, 1528. The Mughals besieged the Fort where Medini Rai had taken shelter with his 5,000 followers.
Medini Rai refused to enter into any treaty with Babur and also did not accept Babur’s offer of a Jagir in lieu of Chanderi. Consequently, Babur pressed the siege of Chanderi with full vigour and attacked the Fort of Chanderi from all sides. The Rajputs were determined to fight to the finish and their women burnt themselves by performing Jauhar. Almost all the Rajputs lost their lives. On 29th January, 1528, the Fort of Chanderi was captured. After this no other Rajput chief could challenge the authority of Babur.
Author beautiful woven his own imagination between the historical events. Author described the character of Aditya, who's is the son of Meera (wife of the head priest of Rajpoots) a skilled and brave warrior. Aditya is in the army of Hemu. This story is so unique and opens out some thrilling elements after effects of this war, how Meera brought in slave market and later handed over to the next ruler. Basically it's a story of Brahmin warrior who would defeat Mughals. He would be able do that ? -𝑴𝒅 𝑨𝒌𝒉𝒍𝒂𝒒
I've already read Mr. Durgadoss before and I had thoroughly enjoyed it. In this action-packed sequel to the previous book, the author has yet again managed to deliver an excellent story with an equally gripping pace which makes the reader hold onto the book and keep reading. The book starts with the seige of Chanderi by Babur wherein, deducing the danger to their honour and religion, the men and women commit mass suicide on being asked by their King to do so. When her husband runs away, Meera, the wife of the State priest, who was conceiving and was about to deliver, decided to live on for the sake of her child. Being bought by a Muslim fakir in the slave market, Meera was handed over to the ruler of Ferozpur who in the turbulent times when everyone was being forcefully converted to Islam, n-spite of being a Muslim, allowed her to practise her religion and even paid her Jaziya. When Meera finally delivered a Baby boy, little did she know that she has not only given birth to a son but to the somebody who would try to seek redemption of every atrocity faced by his countrymen by the hands of Mughals. Will he be able to do that? Read the book to know... The narration is fast and simple and the language is simple and easy to understand. The length of the chapters is something which I personally enjoy about the Author's work. The book is a perfect blend of history and fiction and one inevitably revises history while reading this book but in a fun and an entertaining way, I would recommend this book to everyone who likes the genre.
I'm not a huge fan of historical fiction but sometimes I come across a well researched book with a plot that fascinates me and it's often by R.Durgodoss. I remember reading his previous works and enjoying it so when I got the opportunity to immerse myself in his world again, I happily took it. The Bhramin warrior is a story of loyalty, courage and determination. Arjun, our main protagonist was brought up by a Mughal Commandor after his father ran away and his mother was sold into slavery. The premise of the story is set in the time when the Mughals invaded India and sparks of rebellion were being lit all over the motherland inspiring patriotism in the hearts of all men, women and children. In between country and family, Arjun will have to choose where his loyalty lies. The narrative is strong with well defined characters. The prose flows smoothly and the pace is consistent. There were a lot of descriptions that I felt were unnecessary. The author has tried to provide as much information as he can but at one point, it gets overwhelming because it's a lot to take in. I'd definitely recommend it to people who adore historical fiction.
I took really long to finish this book… not because the book wasn’t great... but because I couldn’t make time to read. So my review here might be a bit biased (considering I often lost the flow). This book revolves around the main character Aditya who is the son of Meera. Me being someone who loves to read mythological and historical stories,, this book was a must read. When I was sent this book for reviewing I was extremely excited! I have read the book ‘The Conquest of the East’ by the same author and I loved the descriptiveness the author brought into the stories. Even in this book, it is so well mentioned about Aditya and his struggles. His fight, his emotions, his confusions and his aspirations have been very well portrayed. I would have liked if it was a bit concise, as towards the end I found it a bit draggy. But apart from that it was a wonderful read. This book is a part of a series written by this author, but you can read this book as a standalone as well. Overall I give this book a 4 on 5 Stars and I think it definitely deserves a read!
Brahmin Warrior is the third book in the series but can be read as a standalone too. Set in the timeline of Mughal Emperor Babur and King Hemu, it's a very interesting read.
The story is set in the time of the year 1528, the time when rulers faced tumultuous battles to protect and or increase their reign. Rana Sanga after being defeated by Babur, Rajput decide that the women would immolate themselves and save their honor, Even as the women start jumping into the fire, the wife of the head priest, stays back. She has conceived after sixteen years. Her husband runs away to save himself and she is forced into slavery by her captors. Fortunately, she and her new-born son, Aditya, are rescued from the slave market by a Sufi ascetic, who hands them over to Abdul gafoor, a Mughal commander. Me era and Aditya become a part of gafoor’s family and he treats her like a sister. Aditya grows up to become the most skillful warrior in the army of the Hindu king hemu. It is a very fascinating read and the story is very precisely carved. It mirrors the time of 1528 to represent the whole story very specifically. The clarity in composition makes it vry interesting to read.
Book Review : The Brahmin warrior @dr.durgadoss @rupa_publications
When I started this book i really don't have any expectations from this book, but this book proves me wrong at all levels. What makes this book a good read are writing style of author and narratives makes it an easy read.this book started around mughal era around 1560 when Baabar came to India and started invasion of Hindu empire and states, but after so much history and all there is no point of time story looses his pace or you feel like lost. So its a well crafted fiction which can entertain you through out, this book enriched you about knowledgeable related to Hindu mythology and religion and how a Brahmin warrior Aaditya reestablished Hindu Army and took vengeance of humiliation of Rajput kings.
Must read for history and mythology lovers. My rating :⭐⭐⭐⭐
The Brahmin Warrior is an action-packed novella that narrates the tale of Aditya who is a Brahmin birth yet grows up under the protective care of Abdul Gafoor. The plot is strong and well-researched. The author's prowess lies in using exemplary narrative and introducing twists and turns at the right time. With well-developed characters, the story highlights the themes of loyalty, integrity and empathy as well.
A well-written book that will surely leave you wanting for more. For complete review, head to aliveshadow (.) com.
If you like reading historical fiction, I definitely recommend you to check out this book. There has been a lot of research done by the author and once you are a few pages in, it shows clearly. The historical aspect has been strongly put in the book. The writing is lucid and clear. The author has done great in weaving the tale. The author has also created a good and strong plot. The character arcs are also substantial and developmental in nature. The title and cover are great and it has been a page-turner so far.
An entertaining read. I have read the previous books in this series and i loved those. This was a bit disappointing as compared to them. But still overall the plot and the characters were good. The end was disappointing. I love reading historical fiction but I haven't read anything about Hemu and Humayun so the way it ended and how everything came together in the end was very difficult for to believe or seemed unrealistic u can say. But overall it's a good read. And these books can be read as standalones too, so don't fret if u haven't read the previous books.
The title and cover of the book goes with the story. The book is an action packed novel. Language of the book is easy and simple. The book is fast paced. The writing style of the author is very good and engaging. Characters are well developed esp. of Aditya. I liked his character very much and loved reading about him. The plotline is very interesting and the story is set in 1528AD. Narration is smooth. The book is very well researched and author’s efforts are clearly visible. Overall, an interesting read. Recommended : Yes, to all but esp. To historical fiction lovers. Rating : 4.2🌟
If you are a historical fiction lover, then ' the brahmin warrior ' is definetly for you. This book consits the story about journey of Aditya, son of Meera. Story was started when babar came to India on about 1560. To know more you have to read this story.
Author's effort and writing style is really appreciating. Easy , lucid & simple words are used. I have never felt bore or random during reading.
Cover is strong, eyecatching & vibrant enough. Title goes smoothly with the plot of the story. All characters are well developed with time and defined perfectly. Highly recommended.
The Brahmin Warrior is an interesting and nerve-raking historical account majorly concerning Babur's Reign in India more specifically The Quest of Chanderi and the events that followed after it. The plot of the story is very well crafted and masterfully narrated. The story is medium paced though loaded with a lot of historical facts that gradually slows down its pace. Vivid descriptions and strong storyline keep the readers hooked till the end.
The book speaks of a curse on Sagar, a shudra warrior by his Brahmin guru. In the present life Shiv is fighting terrorists and after being hurt, in a state of comatose he is taken back to where it all began. To the yesteryears, decades ago. The book is interesting but it has too much of information on history. Too many backstories which sort it confused me. It shows that the story digresses. But the book is entertaining and very well researched.
The title and cover of the book was just perfect. The language of the book is simple,so even beginners can enjoy it without any trouble. The writing style was good, that the flow of the book keeps the readers glued to the book. This book starts with Aditya's past and then his birth and his life after that. The details of the regions and kingdoms was first confusing for me but as you read you'll get used to it and indeed a page turner!
If you like reading historical fiction, pick up this book. The author is well-informed and has done due research on the topic. The description of different births of Shiva is well-written. However, the narrative loses its plot in the middle due to inconsistency. The book could have been shorter as too much information has been given which seems unnecessary.
From the title, it seems unique. It's one of those action packed book which will keep you thrilled. Probably, a unknown/not so popular story with unique characters is been told by the author. It was a easy read, kept me hooked. Wish the characters would have been more stronger. But yeah, give a try you will like it.
The Brahmin Warrior by R. Durgadoss is an interesting read revolving around the Battle of Chanderi which took place in 1528. The author has very nicely portrayed the battle. The plot is intriguing and very tightly packed with detailed description of the events. Overall, it is an amazing read and the history lovers do pick it up.
The story is about a boy named Aditya, son of Meera. Meera's husband was a priest. But he run away due some circumstances. To know about more grab your copy. The writing of Author is really beautiful. I love the effort he put for historical research. The narration is beautiful and smooth. I loved the writing style.
A good plot and a great story with a mixture of Mughal history and the ancient Hindu mythology. Quite an interesting story and the author has made a sincere efforts to narrate the story, in a beautiful manner. R. Durgadoss has created a masterpiece.
A book that will keep you hooked till the end. Easy to follow and totally worth your time. Mythological fictions have always been my favorite genre along with tales of reincarnation and history being a great fascination. This book too has done nothing but raise my love for it.
