I dared him to marry me. I didn't expect him to say yes. Growing up, I was known as the rich kid. If I wanted something, I got it. Then my father lost his fortune and I was suddenly struggling to feed myself. But I've got a plan. I'm sure I can get ahead if I gamble my last dollars as the casino. I didn't expect to run into HIM there. Daniel Argent... rich, powerful, stupidly sexy... and my former neighbor. Oh, and I might have bullied him a bit when we were kids. Whoops. Then he challenges me to a game of poker. I accept. Double whoops. Because the only thing I have left to bet is my hand in marriage... And he's ready to drag me down the aisle
Tapping out.......DNF at 60%. Sorry ......simply bored and disinterested in either of the MC's or the story. I usually enjoy Penny Wylder's smutty novellas but this one...... not so much!!!!
ARC received by author in exchange for an honest review!
As everyone who reads my reviews or follows me is that I love arranged marriage and this one was a tid bit different. It was a different kind of special! Daniel and Monica had a history that we got to revisit with them. I kind of disliked Monica then, but I also noticed that she isn't who she pretends to be. But Daniel didn't notice or see it then, which I can understand completely.
I'm glad to see that Monica did come up for her self, even though against her father it wasn't completely. But I kind of understand that also because if you are used to follow and be someones doormat it's normal you need a bigger backbone to go against it.
This was a slow burn romance. Daniel is a self made billionaire and he just happens to come across a beautiful lady from his past. Monica is at a casino with her last few dollars trying to win big. Gorgeous Daniel has a score to settle with her. This was an unexpected romance story and it had a lot of twists and turns. Also, the romance and hott love scenes were an amazing part of Penny Wylder’s writing 🔥
I really loved this book. The way it started was interesting and set up the rest of the story. The H and h were perfect for each other. There was some angst but not enough to ruin any part of the story. The sex was out of this world. I highly recommend this book for those who love a great love story. I absolutely loved it.
Romance vs Revenge So, Daniel thinks he still hates Monica when he sees her years later in his Casino playing one of his games. He remembers her as a rich snob, too good for him when they were teenagers, and for being mean when she smashed his Game Boy, and just acting like a Princess because she came from money and he didn’t. What he doesn’t realize is that she’s been knocked down quite a few pegs due to her father’s illegal schemes. She’s betting her last few dollars, hoping that will keep her out of a homeless shelter. Unfortunately her plan doesn’t work. Instead Daniel approaches her and makes her a bet. If she wins, he will give her two million, if she looses, she will marry him. Well we can all guess what happens. But, what I like is that the author is seasoned enough to know when to draw out certain scenes and when not. For once there is no long drawn out angst-filled decision to get married. Within a couple of days, boom, it’s done. Then they settle in and it’s Daniel who is learning about the true Monica. How she was a pawn, a puppet by her father, ex-boyfriend (who they ran into - didn’t really need that scene - IMHO). So he begins supporting her, being her champion. I really liked how this storyline played out. The author wrote it with a sense of good energy between the two protagonists. I do have to commend Ms Wylder about one scene - when Monica is devastated by the conversation overheard by Daniel’s parents about her, she rushes back to the casino and hides in a game room by trying to make herself as small as possible while sobbing. This was such a poignant scene and written perfectly. I wholeheartedly recommend this book for reading enjoyment and pleasure. Peace.
I was looking forward to this book because I have read many books by Penny but I was a little disappointed. It was just ok. The sex scenes were everything I would expect from Penny. It was the plot of the story that was lacking for me. It was somewhat ridiculous to me. Monica might have apologized to Daniel for her extreme cruelty and constantly bullying but she never said that she didn’t mean it as a matter of fact she acknowledged to herself that she liked it. This is the woman you marry after reconnecting after a couple of days. I know books are fantasy but come on be a little realistic. Until next time happy reading.
HOLY HOT ROMANCE PEEPS! The Marriage Dare was EXCITEDLY STEAMY and PERFECTLY filled with sexual tension and some super HOOOOOOOOT scenes! Penny Wylder did it again with her latest book. The sparks FIZZED AND POPPED with these characters and the story was impossible to resist and put down. I can't wait to read it all over again.
For me this was probably my least favorite book from this author that I have read.
It was just a so-so read:( Definitely underwhelming for me!

No rating, it was a dnf for me:(
This is a first for me with this author but yep, this was a huge miss sadly:( . That's ok because everyone hits a speed bump now and then and this was one those for me this time around.
This is the story of Monica Blast and Daniel Argent and is billed as an enemies to lovers romance. It is.
Monica and Daniel were neighbors as kids. However, Monica's family was rich; Daniel's was not. Monica's group of rich friends bullied Daniel and though there are hints that she wasn't as bad as her friends, she joined in. Daniel took his rage and hatred and turned it toward making something of himself and is now the billionaire owner of Brazen Casinos, a chain of luxury casinos throughout the US.
On the flip side, Monica has lost everything. Her father was a crook and all their money went to pay his legal fees and as restitution for his victims. Monica can't get work (she's a lawyer) because of her family name and its associations. She's sold anything of value and is in a Las Vegas casino (Daniel's, by the way) with the last of her money hoping beginner's luck will help her win big. Daniel recognizes her and decides on a plan of revenge for all she and her family put him and his family through. They play one hand of poker. If she wins, she gets two million dollars. If he wins, she has to marry him. He will treat her like a princess, but will make her beg for what she wants, including his love.
Will Monica and Daniel be able to put the past behind them and find a future together?
I really enjoyed this story. You get a great feel for the characters as their story unfolds. Daniel is very dominant and Monica loves it, even as she thinks she shouldn't. She accepts Daniel's "proposal" out of necessity, but part of her, including the physical part, can't resist Daniel. And, as much as Daniel wants to humiliate Monica and make her pay for her past deeds, part of him, including the emotional part, can't resist Monica. Their physical chemistry is matched by their emotional one. I have nothing bad to say about the story itself and would recommend it. It was steamy and sexy as well as emotional. I loved how Daniel actually sees Monica for who she is and helps her see that, too.
My only negative is slopping/careless editing. It was distracting. There were simple typos and missing words along with a couple of continuity issues. For example: * The woman who’s name I’ve forgotten raises his hand to the waitress... * She’s only speaking to me because he knows that I’m the owner of this casino... * I did what you always wanted. Married a rich man you can take care of me. * At the beginning of chapter 12 Daniel assures Monica that his parents will like her: His voice is gentle. "They will love you because I love you. I swear." A few pages later, near the end of chapter 12 Monica thinks, Daniel hasn't said that he loves me... They both echo the same later in the story. I guess technically they hadn't said "I love you" to one another so maybe this is nitpicky. * Also, what happened to the necklace from chapter 9? The one Daniel picked out as a special gift and had sent home unbeknownst to Monica? It is never again mentioned. Did she get it?
These are small things and though distracting, don't diminish my overall enjoyment of the story itself. I just wish it was a little tighter. Again, I really liked it and highly recommend it.
Combustible revenge plot between the bully rich girl and the poor boy who always desired her. What a naughty spin to the bully romance. Between flashes of the past as teens and the present filled with taunting sensuality, this hot romance is the perfect bet.
Over a game of poker, Daniel challenges Monica to a double-edged marriage. She avoids utter poverty and he gets the upper-class hand over her body and maybe her heart. Oh, how thrilling it is this duel of wills and wanton desires. The scenes are laced with passion and dare. I loved Daniel's inner dialogue as it is split between protectiveness and revenge.
It's quite entertaining as the relationship is a mix of domination and emotional connection from their teen drama. Lots of steamy scenes with an actual sense of self-worth that is reawakened for the female character. Plenty of steamy action to enjoy, it's also a pretty intense story of redemption and forgiveness. Daniel and Monica might be an unorthodox couple, but these enemies have turned the wheel of fortune and won. Very good romance!
Love Was In The Cards He was out for revenge. She hit rock bottom and was hoping for a miracle. Both of them were about to get a whole lot more than they expected.
Daniel was tormented and bullied in school. And the worst offender was the girl he couldn’t get out of his head. Now he’s no longer the poor, scrawny kid...he’s the successful businessman and he’s HOT! He’s ready to make her pay.
Monica was a cliche. She was the rich, mean girl that made Daniel’s life miserable. Now as an adult she’s struggling to survive after her cushy life imploded. Sfter losing everything, she’s out of options.
When Daniel spots her in his casino, down on her luck, he’s got a proposition that will change everything. Monica‘s about to get an offer she can’t resist.
This story is about second chances and righting your wrongs. The chemistry is smokin’ hot! Daniel and Monica were destined to meet again. This time, love was in the cards.
Ugh. The crap that passes for romance. Daniel is a sociopath. He demands revenge on Madison because she broke his Gameboy when they were teenagers. Seriously. Although really he just can't get over the fact that she didn't want him. So fast forward years later and the tables have turned. He's a billionaire (so original ) and she is homeless because it turns out that her father was a criminal. I think that would be enough to make him happy but it's not. He wants to crush her even further and tells her as much but she gladly goes along with him because of course she does. He's an absolutely terrible person and she's just dumb. This book is nothing more than a reason for them to have sex over and over again. It's not romantic. It's just erotica. It should be labeled as such.
This was a fun redemption/enemies-to-lovers story! In true Penny Wylder fashion she hits the ground running with this book. I there's a bit of a bully aspect, but honestly that doesn't last too long. I loved the slow and steady progression of their relationship, and thoroughly enjoyed the ride this author took us on.

A Fantastic Enemies to Lovers Romance Read that is filled with history between the main characters ( Daniel and Monica) that make this extra hot, sizzling, intense, engaging, energetic and definitely drama- filled and a story full of feels. I loved how Ms. Wylder didn't drag the enemies part out too long and was sure to show the readers how not to judge a book by it's cover. Daniel and Monica's beginning was rocky but their ending was so hot and beautiful. Loved the outcome!! This is one story that you will want to read over and over !!!
This is such a lovely story. I appreciate the dept of Daniel's love for Monica from young til adulthood. He used her as inspiration even though in the beginning out of anger. Monica's desperation led her to a practically convenient situation, saved her from homelessness yet let her to a tormentor who she eventually fell for. The lessons are strong, about family values, hardwork, perseverance, forgiveness, acceptance and love. Good job!
I give this book 5 stars. The storyline between Daniel and Monica started when they children. You will love this story written by a great Author Penny Wylder. I whole heartedly recommend this book. It is a great hot read. Daniel resents Monica from there past. Can he get past it? I voluntarily reviewed this Advanced Readers Copy of this book.
I really enjoyed this latest book from Penny Wylder. I found myself quickly invested in Daniel and Monica’s steamy relationship. This book had twists and turns and did not follow a plot I initially expected, which is refreshing for a contemporary romance novel. I definitely recommend.
Everything about this is so ridiculous. The idea of revenge by marrying her is stupid. The instalove in this case was stupid. The whole thing was just awful. Juvenile at best, but mostly just ridiculous. I very much did not like this one at all. So much of it was just not good writing, not a good story, not great characters, just not good. I want revenge on how she bullied me back in high school so now that I'm a hot, billionaire I'm going to force her to marry me. No prenup. I'll buy her a whole new designed just for her wardrobe. I'll give her orgasms. Wow....such punishment...? It just didnt make sense. I have no idea why some readers liked it so much.
Love the steamy love story. I knew he was in love with her from the beginning. I didn’t buy it when he said he would make her suffer. It was an awesome read, thank you penny
This book is a quick, easy read. Different in that the female is the bully and the male the victim. Monica and Daniel have a hot reunion and an HEA. Good to see the underdog make it.
I liked this book because of the revenge factor involved, I know that sounds so mean of me. She was the rich kid who picked on the poor kid, who had a crush on her. Now, she's poor and he's rich and she needs him, and although he wants revenge, he wants her more.
What a powerful and impressive romance. With the world against them, it takes a strong couple to pull through. Well developed characters that pull off a very real story.
