Descended from both German and Russian nobility, he now lives near Augsburg with his second wife, fellow author Barbara zu Wertheim.

The greatest book about ship modeling that I've read so far. It gives all the details with great diagrams and pictures showing national and temporal variations. Though designed as a reference book, the variations and beautiful drawings make it fun to read from cover to cover!
