I bought this book while in New Orleans for the first time back in 2016. I loved this book. I made the mistake of lending it to a friend at the time and I never got it back.

An easy and practical read for anyone intrigued by the supernatural. While I skimmed through the sections on the details about actual ghost hunting, I mainly focused on the history of the city I call home... Dwyer gets straight to the "good stuff" regarding history and paranormal encounters. Living in the city itself definitely adds an extra element of excitement, but I would also be interested in reading some of his works about cities I am less familiar with. The book is organized very well (based on sections of the city) and gives tips for those interested in doing some of their own exploring.

Ghost Hunter's Guide to New Orleans - Jeff Dwyer

This book is not just a guide in helping the novice paranormal investigator on the Techniques of ghost hunting, Use of Equipment, describing the differences between and intelligent haunt, to a non intelligent haunt conducting historical research and investigation reports. He also explains and gives history to the various well known historical haunts of Louisiana in New Orleans. Towards the back of his book Mr. Dwyer has some helpful internet sites where the reader can look up helpful paranormal teams, museums, historical societies and terminology to help better understand the world of the Paranormal Investigator.

I'll be bringing this with next time I go to New Orleans.

This book has several very useful sections: the introduction and the chapter on how ghost hunting is done would be useful to those who are serious beginners, those who haven't done it before. The majority of the book lists buildings (homes as well as commercial addresses) that are haunted, and tells some of the stories. I was delighted to hear about places that are near to where I usually stay when I'm in town.

The last bit isn't to be left out. The appendices list tours, resources, organizations - all kinds of good stuff.
