Children's book received courtesy of Goodreads First Reads Giveaway
This is the second book in this series that I've had the good fortune to win. The artwork is definitely appealing to little people. The story about who has the biggest burp for sure appeals to kids! The ending lets kids know that maybe having burping contests isn't the best way to show themselves. I also love the glossary in the back that talks about each kind of nocturnal animal and where they live. The series also has printable worksheets that can be downloaded.
I'll be passing this book on to a 2nd grade teacher in the fall!

A cute story about a burping contest that gets a bit too loud. I do wonder how many young children know what a pangolin or a sugar glider are; are the characters accessible to the target audience?
I was not as keen on the illustration as I might have been. The colors were a bit subdued and the characters were not the adorable, large eyed sort that are so attractive to children.
Overall a good nighttime read for little ones.

Cute story about two friends who have a disagreement during a burping contest. The illustrations are cute and there is a science lesson at the end about nocturnal animals. Great early reader.

A nice story with a good message about polite behavior and honesty. I especially enjoyed the beautiful illustrations. I also like the introduction of unfamiliar animals being introduced to children. This helps understanding just as diversity exists amongst people, it also exists in the animal kingdom. This creates excitement in children to learn something new exists in the world and piques their curiosity for further investigation.
This book supports that further investigation by adding some factual information about the animals introduced in the story.
I gave four stars because although this is one of the easier readers in the series, I think children will still require a bit of support with the text.
I would read additional books in this series.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this title.

I had my doubts about this one, and the series. My son at first refused to let me read it at bedtime. I played the long con. "How about you let me read it and if you don't like it I'll take the whole series back to the library."
He of course liked it which meant we're now reading the whole series. At first I thought this is not going to go over well. It's a little preachy about being your best selves and definitely is heavy on the morality aspect over the fun aspect. We typically read nonsensical books that might have a lesson in there somewhere but just as often don't and are just super silly. So the fact that this one made the cut despite Dawn the Fox getting onto them and encouraging them to Oprah Up and be the best versions of their selves, was surprising.

I received this book and read it with my son (helping me write this). He really enjoyed the book. The story is really good for younger readers and makes a good conversation piece for talking about manners. The characters are relatable for children, especially animal lovers. The book was well illustrated. While it is a level one book and my son can read it easily, it was great practice for him to work on his expressiveness while reading. He definitely enjoyed this one and wants to read more of this series.

Thoroughly enjoying read. I have read every one in the series and they never let me down. They are clever, well written and illustrated. Each has a message to get across. The message in this one is that although burps are natural, it is not proper to blame others for your burp. You need to be your best self. Perfect for today's world. It also contains links to downloadable pages for activities. I received this as a review copy.

This book is a great early reader--we have a couple of the other books in the series in our house! The book uses burping as an example of how to show respect for others and has adorable pictures. Good for a quick read-aloud as a bedtime story; although the giggles can disrupt the bedtime routine. There are also animal facts at the back of the book which is great for introducing kids to animals they might not be familiar with like the pangolin and sugar glider.

I won this book in a giveaway and I’m voluntarily leaving a review.
My daughter loved this book. She is 8 and reads at a 1st grade level. This book had a few words she had a problem with but overall a good level 1 book. She likes that is has chapters and they aren’t very long. The pictures are great and her favorite character is the fox.

Adorable first reader chapter book. The characters are cute, the story is good, it is in simple words and broken up into small chapters just like a big kid book! Can't wait to give it to my granddaughter!

The Best Burp is a short, simple story about how having burp contests and blaming each other for one's own wrongs is not a way to be your best self. The illustrations are very cute. My three year old boy loves this book!

This book is great! Adding it to my storytime library for when I’m back in the classroom with my kids. I already know that they’re going to love the pictures (and the burps), and I like to try to read books with good messages to my students. I love the animal facts at the end as well.

My son and I read this before bed the other day—he was so happy that he could read a chapter book mostly by himself! We both thought the story was funny, and the pictures are very cute. Definitely a bedtime hit!

Bink and Bismark argue over who has the best burp. They have a burp-off and when Dawn asks what all the burping is about they blame Tobin. Dawn helps them realize that burping is fine when you need to, but blaming others is not what's best.

Honestly, I was disappointed with this as an "early reader", maybe it would be more appropriate for level 2 or 3? It just seemed more out of her range than the other Level 1 books have been. Otherwise it was a nice book and had a lot of interesting new facts.

This book is great for your child to start reading. It was just enough and the graphics are awesome and the characters are so cute. Definitely a fun book+

This book is adorable! My baby cousin loves animals and the pictures in this are so cute that I couldn't resist. The message about being your best self is also a plus!

I love this series for preschoolers and beginning readers. But this one, not so much. Couldn't really hear the burps!

Author Tracey Hecht has added another Nocturnals story for younger readers.
This time around Bismark is having a burping contest with a bat named Bink. When Dawn asks who is making all those big burps and the two contestants point at each other, it seems that they have both pointed at Tobin. Will the shy pangolin get over the embarrassment? And can Dawn convince them that having a burp-off is not the best way to behave? After all, having a burp so loud that it is mistaken for thunder is not very polite.
The Nocturnals stories show that three very different friends can cooperate, face challenges, and have fun together. Dawn has the patience and wisdom of a leader. Tobin can be timid, but is kind and willing to take risks for the sake of his friends. Bismark is small but bold, and very dramatic. Back matter in each of the books includes facts about the various nocturnal animals, and there are also downloadable activities online at nocturnalsworld.com.
This book is a Level 1 reader, like The Tasty Treat, perfect for youngsters just beginning to read on their own - and with a topic sure to tickle their funny bones.
For youngsters who love stories with animal characters, or those whose older siblings have read the Nocturnals chapter books, these leveled readers are the perfect way to enter the nighttime adventures of these charming friends.

This is a simple, picture book for little one to learn the importance of not blaming others. Bink the bat is adorable. How can such a little creature have a burp as loud as thunder?? :)
Such an easy story to relate to. The main characters Bink and Bismark, fellow bat, have a competition to see who can burp the loudest.. but when confronted neither bat wants to admit it was them and ends up pointing fingers at innocent Tobin the bear. Everything ends tidily with apologies, manners, and a lesson on truth telling.

The early reader story tells an important tale about polite manners & friendship. As an added bonus, there are brief definitions of the nocturnal animals featured in this story. Little ones will enjoy some giggles and the morale of the story.
