My whole life I’ve been stranded on a spaceship with my parents and the crew of the spaceship Grimm Explorer. Who am I? I am Rose Marie Hernandez Williamson and I was born in outer space. I used to think the hardest part about growing up out here would be naming the planets. Now, I think it will be getting back to Earth alive.
I must say though out the book i was a bit confused what audience the author was try to reach. It isn't until acknowledgements at the end it states it was written for her children. So with that I now understand why it seemed very slow and repetitive . As an adult reader I was unimpressed with the book while a child may very much enjoy it. I felt it just got to be interesting in the last quarter of the book . This is my honest opinion.
Thank you goodreads for the advance giveaway copy, much appreciated.
This is the first time I have read a book by this author. The publisher gave me a copy to read and review. I LOVED it!! It is a quick read that grabs your heart. I fell in love with the characters, the author didn't tell me how to feel but I cried in so many spaces of this book, not just the sad ones but the happy too. It is very rare for me to get so emotional when reading. I highly recommend it.
Rose Marie Hernandez Williamson is a unique teen, she was born on a starship. The ship is on a mission to check out earth-like planets: 3 of them. Rose was not planned to be on board, as pregnancies are often unplanned. Both her parents are on board. The story happens in the future where we have FTL and instant communications abilities (more or less). Rose has tutors on Earth, and a friend she in in contact with. She is extremely smart and capable. The story is told entirely from her point of view. There are problems that occur, and her mother is killed in an accident. Others on board become ill and two die. In the end, she pilots the ship's shuttle to Earth from orbit. The story ends there. The story is good, Rose's account does seem to come from a teen's point of view, and she does detail her fears of living in full gravity on Earth, and how to interact with people her own age, etc. My only complaint is that I wish it had continued a little more after the landing. Even so, a good read.
