Honor thy mother…It was an open secret in his family that Dr. Ace Jackson Jr. resembled the Wileys and not his father, Ace Jackson Sr. His mother, Celia Jackson, told him to ignore the whispers and the innuendos, he was Ace Sr.’s son and not the son of their former gardener, Micky Wiley. For thirty-six years Ace Jr. managed to do just that. He ignored the speculation because he didn’t want to upset the status quo. However, a part of him was curious as to what was the truth of the situation, but he would honor his mother’s wishes. And then he met and developed feelings for Kiya Brady, the rumored love child of Micky Wiley, and then he realized that maybe he shouldn’t be honoring his mother’s wishes after all…

Ok I truly love all the books I have read from the author. But I must say I was extremely disappointed with the overall errors and typos throughout the story line. It was so annoying because I have never experienced this with books from Brenda and there were so many that I wanted to stop reading. It was good to visit the Wiley’s again looking forward to what Duece will bring minus the errors and typos.
1st read by this author. I enjoyed my introduction to the Jackson men, Ace Jr. in particular. His questionable interest concerning his father kept the storyline moving especially after Kiya arrived. Happy about the outcome. Looking forward to reading the next segment in the series.
Love the island of Jamaica so the location setting is great, along with the obvious connection between Ace and Kiya. The biggest drawback of the book however was wishing the paternity issue hadn't lasted so long, though I am thrilled with the outcome for Ace Jr, Ace Sr, and Deuce. As for Kiya, I think George Brady should have truly been her biological dad. Ace's mom should have been a more honest wife and mother in respect to providing her husband and sons the truth they deserved. Ace Sr. was great, and the other characters funny and interesting. I am a big fan of the Wiley brothers, so I would love to see a full family tree of who's who. And I definitely want to see Yara's love interest evolve into a story. Truly like Ace and Kiya as a couple, so really glad they are NOT brother and sister. May their love story blossom into true happiness.👍
Another first for me, this is the first novel I have read by Mrs. Barrett. I am looking forward to finishing this series as it continues with the next to brothers Duece, Trey and Quade. I love how all three brothers are doctors along with their father. Any time I am reading about successful African-American men especially in the healthcare field it automatically brings a smile to my face.
Ace and Kiya both deserved pure unconditional love. Kiya deserved to have a man that was totally into her and not weak enough to fall for her sister. Ace was that man and they shared a lot of similarities. Ace is going to court her and I know that is an old fashioned way to get to know the other person but I love it. I think an old fashioned romance is the best way to establish a strong relationship.
This was a great read would recommend it. I think other readers would enjoy the older women in this book they were a mess especially in their younger years.
I love Brenda's books, her style of writing, the way she grips my attention. Wow. I am particularly pleased with the Bajan mention. Lololol.
Ace's story truly depicts a lot of what happens in the Caribbean, where to this day there are still many doubts about "who is the father"? Thankfully some can clear up those doubts through DNA testing. I was on tenterhooks waiting for the results too, lolol, but I am glad it turned out well for Ace and Kiya.
The Prophet though......lololol....undercover.
Great book. I usually read them quickly because I can't wait to get to the end, but this one, I didn't want to miss any details. Full of Caribbean family drama.
Initially this novel didn't move me. I only continued to read it because I hate stopping a book midstream. Well that interest kicked into high gear and I absolutely needed to know how this story would end. Suspenseful!! Who is Ava's father, who is Kia's father, who is Deuce's father? Who all did Charlotte the "harlot" take to her chambers? What does Ace Sr think of all this? What does George Brady think? So many rumors, so much backdoor visiting. This book bring love, current and past, and high drama - dealing with the rumors and most rumors contain a fragment of some truths.
This was definitely an interesting read. My heart went out to Ace when he was having so much trouble getting clear answers about his paternity. I really didn’t want to put the book down until I was able to find out if he was going to be able to pursue the woman his heart longed for. I only ga e four stars because it took ,e a few chapters before I realize the sitting of the story was in Jamaica and not America. Nevertheless I do plan to read about Duce, Trey and Quade 😊
This specific book shows that genes can skip generations. As usual, I anxiously hoped that Ace And Deuce were Ace Sr.'s sons. Every novel has been detailed. informative, and well-written, but a bit too short! Brenda remains at the very top of my best authors list. This Jackson series shows that you are forever a top notch author when it concerns love, family, commitment, and truth.
I don't know what to say I waited for the big reveal. I'm not going to spoil things for the other readers. Ace is a good person and so is Celia. This was a nice read kept me interested in what was going to happen in the end. I must say reading the series from the very beginning definitely helps you to understand and follow the characters without any problems. Great job Brenda 😊.
A short but interesting read. I appreciated the story taking place in Jamaica, giving readers some history and vivid descriptions of the different cities of the island. The characters werent bad, but some lacked depth like Gwen and Kav. I wished we had a chance to learn who their fathers were. Also, the younger brother Trey didn't get enough time in the story either. With another well thought out 100 pages this book would have received 4.5-5 stars.

I almost did not complete the book, the misspelled words, misspelled names, use of the wrong homophone and the grammar was atrocious. Did this author lose her editor? I enjoyed the "Wiley Brothers" and the "Pryce Sisters" series. The story is intriguing but why did it take so long to do DNA? This is a creative story that is unbelievable and it could be believed. Gives new meaning to the adage, we are all family.
I truly love your writing style with your sequels. I cannot wait for the next Jackson story. I love how all the stories intertwine with one another. Keep writing so I can keep enjoying your imaginative story lines with all the exciting characters. This was by far the most intriguing story. I loved it and recommend it to all readers.
Very good story with a few twist. I was so excited to finally put the mystery of Ace and Deuce parentage to rest. When love is in involved it will make a person do what needs to be done for their own happiness. Love the story and I can't wait for the next book.
Enjoyed Ace & Kiya's story. As I started to read, I became interested in the plot twist and family dynamics. Happy that Ace was able to do the DNA test on himself, his dad ,brother & prove his dad was his dad. & Kiya was not his sister.Things get messy when people are dead set on tipping & keeping secrets. Looking forward to reading Deuce's story.
As always I like the unearthing of drama in Brenda’s stories however this first installment had no build up of attraction for Kiya and Ace for me. I felt the story was more on Aces journey of truth. I didn’t feel the attraction for the pair and I hope DJ story is more LOVE induced because that’s what I grown to love about her books.
This is an excellent story. It's Christian in the telling. The scare of not knowing your ancestors is real. Always try to find out if you & your significant other are related. Also, there were some punctuation, wrong/similar words used, & double of the same word used.
What I like about this book is how Ms Barrett brought in the idea that family is family regardless of how messy they may be. And, how faith played a huge part in this storyline. Ace and Kiya had to put their faith in God to work the matter at hand for them one way or another.
I love this author writing, but her endings for me are always rushed and really could use an epilouge! Possibly on to book 2, I might just read the first three chapters and then the last three. Maybe that way, I want be so disappointed in her 90 mile an hour ending. Please remember that I did say I like her writing and her storyline. 😁😇
Brenda Barrett’s stories from Kingston about the Wiley, Pryce and now Jackson clans keep me so engaged. I love the twist in this one. I guessed it about halfway through but loved how Barrett unfolded it! Can’t wait until the next book in this series is released.
I enjoyed reading the story of Ace and Kiya and can't wait to start the next book in the Jackson Series. I recommend this series to everyone. There is so much drama, intrigue and love.
I read this in just a few days. I was a having a hard time placing everyone since it’s been a while since I read all the other books. Can’t wait for Deuces’ story.
This was definitely a great story I wish it was a little more to it... like the hea.... there were a lot of grammatical errors though...hopefully the next book will be better...
I am an avid reader of Brenda Barrett she is one of my favourite authors. Her vocabulary is extensive and her imagination and writing style is unique. This book did not disappoint, looking forward to reading the entire series.
This book had you going from beginning to end. I was rooting that Kiya and Ace we're not brother and sister. I am so happy that it ended the way I wanted it to. On to the next book in the series. Bravo!
Ace and Kiya, beautiful story, I'm glad that they found out the true story. It's very important to know who you are . It's a good thing Ace wouldn't give up until he found is parentage. I just wish that Kiya would have found who her biological father was.
AJ and Kiya's story was fascinating. Attraction at first sight. I read the Wiley series a while ago and accidentally stumbled across this book; glad I did. It was nice to jump back into the twists and turns of small island life.
Very good contemporary read without the intimate scenes but close enough to imagine. I love the point it made and that all families aren't perfect as the seem to look on the outside.they all have their dark secrets and moments.
