All roads lead to Mercy as survivors from all walks of life, with intentions ranging from good to evil, meet for the final showdown in Flashpoint Book 6.
Half of the earth's population has been wiped out. Impossible to predict or stop, the Gamma Ray Burst tore through the Earth like a bullet, its radiation wave killing hundreds of millions and the aftereffects ensuring the deaths of billions more.
Now, as the world crumbles around them, a ragtag group of survivors make for the only home they know - the small town of Mercy. Spared the worst of the GRB's effects, the town is isolated, safe and self-sufficient - for now. The flash hasn't just decimated the Earth's population, though. It's brought out the worst in many of those who are still alive.
Survival in this new world doesn't just depend on preparedness - it depends on strength.
*****
It's the one disaster no one can plan for. A rogue cosmic event called a Gamma Ray Burst, sending a spike of radiation through the earth like a .50 caliber bullet through a ripe watermelon. It's speculated that such an event hit the Earth at some point in the past, causing a mass extinction event. With two potential sources for a GRB pointed directly at our heads, the chances of another one happening in our lifetime is remote... but still possible.
In Flashpoint, we explore such an event and the havoc it would wreak across the entire planet. From destroying our atmosphere to millions dying from incredibly painful radiation exposure, a GRB would be unpredictable and unavoidable for everyone, rich and poor, prepared and unprepared alike.

Flashpoint is an excellent apocalyptic/dystopian series that's full of characters who tugged at my heart. The tension and stress-filled events kept me turning pages late into the night, umm...early morning hours. I am impressed with the convergence of all the threads of this story into a very satisfying conclusion. I highly recommend it and hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Even such a short book has left a powerful impression. Half of the earth’s population is wiped out. The other half dealing with the after effects. What will become of the earth. A definite must read for everyone.
This whole series has got to have been the best one yet. The whole series drags you in and makes you feel part of the story. Following everyone through the biggest hurdles they’ve all faced so far ready to face their new futures together. The series seemed to read like a tv series. I imagined a voice over at the start of each book “last time on mercy”. All roads lead to mercy and this is one series to get you hooked
That one word destined so many things. Holding on to what and who was important have the people of Mercy just what they need to survive. Read this series and enjoy the writing of Mike Kraus and Tara Ellis.
Bringing this fantastic Flashpoint: A Thrilling Post-Apocalyptic Survival series to a glorious, triumphant, shocking and literally earth-shattering conclusion, is Mercy, the 6th and final story featuring the eponymous town, that's the focus for post-Gamma Ray survivors and their opponents from across the USA. With an amazing pantheon of characters - Tom, Ethan, Sam,Danny,Chloe,Patty and James, plus villainous opponents,General Montgomery and his military subordinates and 'Father Russell' amongst others - the action, as always is breakneck and incredibly fascinating, as situations develop that could make all the difference to the citizens' ultimate survival - or destruction. How will things pan out? Get your copy of Mercy: Flashpoint #6 and buckle up for the bumpiest ride of your reading life - I love the whole series and I guarantee you will too!
Loved this series, hate to see it over. Recommend this series to anyone who enjoys post apocalypse fiction. Great adventure and good finish. Small town and farmers, ranchers struggle against Army, Fema plus the odd serial killer.
A Very good ending to this series of what happens to the world when it is struck by a gamma ray burst. The series is very good and we meet some honourable characters, and of course some misguided and thoroughly bad ones. The only thing I didn’t like about this last instalment was two chapters of two totally different people who had nothing to do with the rest of the characters in this story, if they did, I’m sorry but I must of missed it. Recommend reading.
It was a fitting end to an enjoyable series. I'm glad the evil Russell was taken out, and was glad there wasn't much bloodshed in the last stand off. I hope you write more like this...😀
I read all six books in this series in less than 3 weeks. For the most part I really enjoyed it, and felt it got better as the series went on. Reading it now during the COVID 19 crisis made it seem more real, tho fortunately we are not in the same kind of situation. I plan to read others by these authors!
Tom, Sandy, Danny, Ethan, Sam, Bishop, Chloe, and James. Follow them all in their efforts to survive, and find their ways home to Mercy. And why Mercy is so important to everyone involved.
Enjoyed first 5 books of series, wanted to know what happened to characters. This was the best book, couldn't put it down. Felt like each of people were real, scenario was frigntening
came to believe it was really happening( hope not ). Did not like Russell but wanted to know what happened to him, good story line.
Amazing continuing story by Tara Ellis and Mike Kraus
Surviving the end of life as you know it and finding how hard it is to find your way home. With people attempting to take everything that you have by any means possible to fighting military personnel also. Making it home safely is awesome.
This series gets a 5+! Life after the "event" will never be the same. Survivors soon realize that not everyone is a friend. Struggling to keep the residence of a town alive, no one ever expected Mercy would be the beginning of a new start.
This is the best series I've read in a very long time. I can't tell you the last time I loved a series so much that I wanted it to continue with more books. I have fallen in love with the characters and would love to see a continuation of their story past this series. What happens when they open the vault? What struggles do they have to overcome? Who stands in their way and causes chaos? So many unanswered questions. Write some more please. I would read anything you write!
I think that Mercy was the best in the series as it brought all of the characters together.
Danny got to her dad and she decided to stay in Mercy to be with Tom and to help everyone instead of going on to Helena.
Mayor Patty stood down and made Tom the new Mayor which at first I was wary about but he did seem to do a better job than Patty was as everyone seemed to respect him and listen to him. He was able to stop the takeover of Miller Ranch and keep his town safe.
I'm glad that Sam was able to find a place in Mercy even though he had no family there, he seems so determined to help everyone in Mercy so that they can farm indoors, and he seems to know a lot about everything.
Ethan was a smart kid and really knew a lot about farm life and was happy to help around the farm without being told to.
Chloe might have been a bright girl who had anger issues but she was able to keep it under control by running and once Ethan arrived at Mercy she seemed even happier at first I wasn't sure that they would get together with her thinking that every time she did something happy something went wrong but when I saw how much her and Ethan got along I was sure they'd get together. I thought that Chloe would be the one to figure out that Russell was involved in killing Father White especially since she was the one who saw him with a syringe.
Patty seemed to be in way over her head and once she made Tom Mayor she seemed to be a lot happier but she was way to trusting, letting Russell in when she knew nothing about him.
I knew Bishop was hiding something and figured he'd spent some time in the military especially after he tied up the people at the lake on Miller's Ranch but I didn't think he was a secret member of the government.
I knew Russell would be trouble, I actually almost cried at one point. I'm glad that he didn't blow up the cave but I would have liked him to die after the town found out he killed Father White and Gary.
I didn't like Montgomery from the start he was too strict with his military stuff. I know it was the end of the world but killing people for dumb reasons (wanting to be the new president for example) just makes him stupid.
I never thought that Walsh would turn on Montgomery, I thought that they were too close. I'm also glad that he fired Dillinger.
I was glad that James turned out to see what Montgomery was really like. I wouldn't have guessed that Bishop was his dad not until he was at The Farm with Hicks.
Overall, I enjoyed the series they were really good.
I give the series overall 2.9 stars. I’m not sure what the Russel storyline added if you have the General. The vignettes of people not related to the story seemed unnecessary. The last book felt rushed because of these other stories.
This book by itself was a 3-3.5 but I bumped it because it ended what has been a good series. I like the more unusual disaster from a gamma-ray burst. I am not a fan of the homicidal lunatics that seem to always show up in this genre. Russell was the weakest element in this series. Equally ubiquitous is the power-hungry military leader (but I was doing it for the best) and Montgomery and Russell between them actually diluted the originality of this story. I did not under Chapter 18 at all with Emily far away in Banff and was not sure who she was or her relevance to the story. I literally thought I had grabbed the wrong book when I started on that chapter. While the ending was a bit predictable, it was nonetheless satisfying since the people of Mercy were good folks.
Over all good reading (all 6 books). Author could have used a little imagination for the ending , like the military takes over Mercy and everything goes to hell, or better yet another thing hits earth and wipes everything out. 😆 The end.
This book was good but not as good as the first books. The ending seemed more like an outline for a final book to me. I’m sure that they get tired of writing about the same characters sometimes but it just seems as though the authors dropped the ball with this one.
I did like this series. They were well written and fun to read. Grammer was good and no noticable mistakes in the spelling or the way the sentences were formed. The characters were good. The author did not keep repeating descriptions like some are doing
I read the series and can tell you this writer never lets me down! Just when I think each survivor book is the same. ..I turn to one of his books and find something great!!😄😄 !r. Kraus and MS Ellis have come up with a truly great series. Should be a movie.
Great story...I really enjoyed this series. Great characters, and an easy to follow storyline. Highly recommend this series. Looking forward to more from this Author.
Such an excellent ending! I was scared for Chloe and Ethan there at the end. And, Dillenger's and Montgomery's endings were quite satisfying. I really enjoyed this entire series. It was really fun and never boring.
