Thirty-six episodes from the Windy City's history, including legendary events such as the great fire and the St. Valentine's Day Massacre, as well as lesser-known tales.
I liked this ones. It had a wide variety of stories from the early settler days through Oprah's first day in Chicago. Each one was a 4-5 page summary written like a short story. I thought her facts were right on, which is usually my problem with these types of books. It is also well written, which is usually the problem with books that get their facts right. So, I'd definitely recommend it for folks looking for quick read stories throughout the years of this great city.
I guess if you're a "true" Chicagoan, you pretty much know the gist of these stories. It is really nice to here them in detail fully explained. Some real eye openers in here too! I guess I only gave it 4 because I didn't really find a story that really made me go WOW! But overall, very good easy read.
Well-written snippets from Chicago's history. Being new to the city, I found the tales interesting and informative. Just wish it was more comprehensive!
