Networking technologies have become an integral part of everyday life, which has led to a dramatic increase in the number of professions where it is important to understand network technologies. TCP/IP Protocol Suite teaches students and professionals, with no prior knowledge of TCP/IP, everything they need to know about the subject. This comprehensive book uses hundreds of figures to make technical concepts easy to grasp, as well as many examples, which help tie the material to the real-world. The second edition of TCP/IP Protocol Suite has been fully updated to include all of the recent technology changes in the field. Many new chapters have been added such as one on Mobile IP, Multimedia and Internet, Network Security, and IP over ATM. Additionally, out-of-date material has been overhauled to reflect recent changes in technology.

Goes into quite a lot of detail, maybe a bit too much for fireside reading

Read for a class. Full of tedious detail without much overview.

It is so detailed that newbies got a stomach on their head 😁. But you can skip these details and get the most of it. Nextime you need some details, read it back..

I didn't give this one star just because it's a textbook. It was riddled with mistakes. Obvious mistakes. The kind of mistakes where you wonder if they intentionally put them there so they can release a new edition to milk poor college students dry. I don't know how they made it to their fourth edition without fixing so many contradictions and basic math errors. Also, some textbooks attempt to bring some amount of enjoyment into an otherwise boring subject matter. This book didn't try for that. I read 2/3 of the chapters and skimmed the other third. If you're interested in studying in-depth networking, I'd suggest you find another book or just find your information online.
