I have never read a “Cozy Mystery” before but I might well be hooked! Hot cops, unlucky in love heroines, mystery authors and all the angst that comes with white picket fence aspirations and manifest destiny romance. As someone who struggled to tell Noel and Ben apart in the show “Felicity” it took me a little while to keep the former college friends love triangle plot in place. However Soon enough though it all made sense and I had my dreamy never-been/should-have-been kissed guys in order. With a book-within a book format I would like to hunt the real world inspiration for favorite character “Nympho Norma”! I have downloaded another book by MJ Miller and really hope Norma makes a cameo!

Annie is adorable. I cannot imagine picking up a book by an author and finding out I am the main character. That would creep me out a bit I think.
I have no idea what a 'cozy mystery' is but this book was a fun read and the characters are totally believable. I'm a romance reader and this had plenty of that. It has mystery, suspense, romance, and action weaved into a really fun story. HEA.
I recommend this book and this author. I have read a couple of her books and enjoyed both. Will be reading more. This review is my own and I have not been compensated for it.

I definitely liked Annie. I like M.J. Miller's style of writing and telling stories. It is easy to read and her books are fun with very likable characters. Annie is a delight. As is Chris. Romance laced with a little mystery and intrigue - what's not to like? What would you do if you picked up a book to read and realized you were the main character? 🤔 I'm looking forward to Phantom - it is in my next to read list.

Read This One!
"All About Annie" rocks! The author spent a lot of time developing the characters. Annie is my favorite, of course. She is likeable, memorable and relatable! This book is not your typical "gushy" romance novel. There are some unexpected twists and turns as the story progresses. This book reminds me of the show "Friends". Kind of, sort of. It's good. I liked it and would certainly recommend it.

"You can' just write someone out of your life."
The dialogue is so well done in this book. I can’t stress this enough. It is one of the hardest aspects of writing. So when I see it done well, I want to jump up and scream praises! Amazing job~!
The flow was also on point. The plot never languished or leapfrogged ahead. Smooth all the way through.
I had a great time with this story. Relatable and honest characters, so refreshing~

I loved this book!
The story had an unusual twist which I found intriguing and kept me turning the pages into the wee hours of the morning. It’s well written and edited. The development and interaction of the characters along with an amazing plot made this a great read. I’ve added a new author to my reading list.

Really enjoyed this book! It’s a page turner! Couldn’t put it down! Loved it so much I’ve already purchased the author’s second book.

I enjoyed reading this book. I thought it started off a little slow but I was soon ripping through it waiting to see what happened next! I will definitely read other books by this author.

A fun page-turner
If you like romance and mystery all rolled into one, this is a great book for you. It’s an easy, enjoyable read that had me guessing until the end.

When I saw the premise of this book, I was drawn in by a sense of intrigue and curiosity. I was very excited to read it after I won a copy from a goodreads giveaway... only to find myself feeling a little disappointed.
The writing style is extremely stilted, somewhat repetitive, and very detached. It's almost like a grocery list of actions and thoughts interspersed with a ton of sentence fragments. For example:
I find this writing style difficult to follow, almost like the mental equivalent of being passenger in a car which keeps accelerating and braking over and over for hours on end. Reading this got under my skin so much, it started making my own writing and thoughts come out horribly stilted. Call it catchy, if you will. And not in a good way. This, in fact, is why I stalled out on reading it back in 2019 and - now that I've been reminded of what happened then - why I'm calling it quits now.
As for the story itself: Annie is a thirty-something woman who dreams of the picket fence life with a nice husband and six kids, but life - and the man she really wanted - has passed her by so far and the dream life is slipping between her fingers. Escapism is her coping mechanism of choice, often through books, but her latest choice feels horribly familiar. How can the author have written a character whose thoughts and experiences in love so closely match her own?
This, of course, is the premise which drew my interest. Unfortunately, it doesn't feel very authentic in practice. Annie starts feeling spooked when absolutely nothing uncommon has happened yet in the story she's reading. The town isn't her own, the character's job isn't her own, and neither the character or the love interest have been properly described so really she's just self-inserting. Much like the writing style, everything just feels too abrupt and fragmented. This feels less like a truly spooky mirror of Annie's life and more like she should be a twelve-year-old who's a novice to reading for escapism and hasn't yet realized that feeling a connection to fictional characters while reading is normal and not paranormal.
Whether this book gets better or Annie's circumstances are coincidental will never be known to me, and I'm honestly very okay with that. I just don't care enough to keep going, and I'm finally admitting I'm never finishing this one.

I read this a couple months ago after a friend recommended it to me. I didn't know I could leave reviews here until just recently.
I love Annie. She is like a friend.
I felt for her and her plight when she began reading a book that ended up being about her. Then she finds out who wrote it and the fact she knows him. That'd be very weird.
I enjoy a well written book and this one fits that category. This is my first cozy mystery book, not even sure what that means, but I enjoyed this book. I also am a sucker for HEAs.
