Not many people would want to move into a notoriously haunted house a few blocks from a cemetery, but to Zane Brannon, it’s a perfect place to live. He’s been able to see ghosts all his life, and making friends with them is easy. It’s harder for him to connect to the living, and starting high school in a new town is more intimidating than the creepy woods in his backyard.
He meets two friendly—and cute—classmates and soon finds himself caught in the middle of dark rumors and old rivalries. Witch covens, werewolves, lost hounds from the Wild Hunt… Silent Hollow is a strange town full of mysteries, and as Zane tries to untangle them, he isn’t sure who he can trust.
Zane loves what others fear, but he’s about to learn a harsh lesson. As comfortable as he is with the things that go bump in the night, it’s not possible for him to befriend everyone—or everything—that lurks in the dark.
Devin Harnois has several published novels and he’d have more if he spent less time on Twitter and playing Dragon Age. Most of his books involve magic, monsters, and hope. They're also getting progressively more queer. He collects skull items and only a strong will prevents his apartment from being overrun by them.
In second grade he wrote his first story, a romance about two mice falling in love. He still has the original draft.
This really hit the spot. I am very picky about the YA I read and this was everything I enjoy. Ghosts and the supernatural but low-angst and sweet. The story is complete and satisfying so I am not wanting a sequel, but if one came out it would make sense.
A fun and light supernatural story, perfect for October. Devin Harnois writes believably real characters, with engaging dialogue and a quick moving story. Can’t wait to read more from him
Hm, I liked Zane Brannon, he was solid young main character. Sure the main storyline was simply in development and partly unsurprising. The light developing romance between Zane and Darian was sweet and warm. I'm looking forward to new books in this series. Good start.
This was a charming book with fun characters, though it does get a bit dark at the end. A new kid moves into a weird town where things are definitely not as they seem. He must navigate the strange cliques in high school and get to know his house ghosts but there's more beneath it.
