The Not Quite Right Reverend Cletus J. Diggs and the Crazy Case of Foreman James

Rate this book
Foreman James has always walked the streets of Old Mill, North Carolina, standing tall on street corners and booming his "story" to the world. Not many know where he comes from, or where he goes - no one knows the whole story. When an old, hand-written journal Foreman has carried since childhood goes missing, his carefully preserved world begins to crumble, and Old Mill takes notice.

When Cletus J. Diggs' buddy Jasper drops by to tell him how the crazy man was accosting pedestrians on the street, nearly got picked up by the sheriff, and drew the attention of one of the most powerful, and potentially evil men in ten country miles, Jarrod Pope, Cletus is interested. You see, Cletus found a book that day - a very old book - and it has bits and pieces of a very personal, very dark mystery tucked into its weathered pages.

Can Cletus, investigator, common-law lawyer, journalist, ordained minister and self-taught jack of all trades unravel that mystery despite the years that separate him from it before something very bad happens? Will Jasper ever get to go fishing? Will Foreman get his book back - and just what happened, decades in the past, when the old peanut oil factory burned down - the Day Jarrod Pope was a hero? Find out in the pages of The Crazy Case of Foreman James - the second Cletus J. Diggs supernatural mystery. Welcome to Old Mill.

*I received a copy of this audiobook from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this one from David Naill Wilson. I had no idea what to expect from this one, but have enjoyed David’s previous work and decided to give it a go. Glad I did.

An old mystery resurfaces in Old Mill and it is up to Reverend Cletus J. Diggs to unbury the towns’ skeletons and decipher what really happened years ago.

The narrator, Joe Geoffrey, did an excellent job. I felt he was the perfect voice for the story and the tone and cadence really added to the brooding southern atmosphere.

Well done. 3.5+ rounded to 4 based on the narration. Recommended.

A Southern supernatural mystery with Southern charm!

But not an annoying cozy nauseating lit-chic southern book. And the last chapters is when the supernatural sheds its skin and rears its head in smokes and mirrors.

I really liked the characters. I connected with them and enjoyed the story as it unfolded. I wish there were more longer length audiobooks available in this series!

Recommended for mystery lovers who want an extra kick and thrilling conclusion!

This has been in my Audible wish list for a while, I finally took the plunge and I'm glad I did.

I thought the narration went well with the characters. I really enjoyed the story, it was sort of low key/everyday crackers with a little bit of paranormal and in all, a total delight!
