What do you get when you combine:
15 rooms in a Gothic Revitalized Castle-like Mansion?
a Love of Fairy Tales and Christmas?
Lyndhurst Fairytale Christmas!

Each room is designed to show off the themes of stories like Little Mermaid, Snow White and others.
The beautiful photographs show off the big pictures and small details.
Anderson does a great job of showcasing Designer Robert A. Pesce's work. Pesce offers fantastic tips, tricks and more to make your own home, store or castle magical for the holidays!

The book includes some storybook trivia and fun at the end as well.

I read this book when I was a little girl. Reading it for the first time it was magical. But reading it almost 12 years later shows me the magic never died.

I give the actual idea of the castle, the castle itself, and the majority of the room five stars. But I give the book's pictures, some of the less creative room-themes, and its rather laden message of Christianity (seriously...not everyone wants to know the Christian message behind every fairy tale..) four stars.

This book shows the interiors of Lyndhurst Mansion, a Gothic Revivial style mansion in New York. Each year, they do every room in a different fairy tale theme for Christmas. I admired some rooms more than others (Sleeping Beauty was a bit of a let down, but the Little Mermaid was wonderful), and I was frustrated that some rooms featured absolutely no overall shots of the rooms, just detail shots! (Sleeping Beauty, Hansel and Gretel) The book could have benefited from a more consistent format...say each chapter starting with an overall view of each room, and only THEN showing some of the details. The given format was a bit frustrating.

I also would have loved a bit about the visitor reaction to the mansion, perhaps with some pictures of families wandering about the beautiful rooms.

The book was wonderful, and awe-inspiring, but it felt lacking in some ways.

This book is amazing! If you like to come up with new ideas for Christmas trees, this is a must-see! It has been my inspiration for trees to do for the Festival of Trees held in Salt Lake City every year to benefit Primary Children's Medical Center. I love it!
