3,5 ⭐️ it starts out fun, stupid and entertaining, and then it gets horrible, as stories with such dark premises ought to be. the sex scenes were nothing out of this world, but they were enjoyable. the author planted the seeds here for angst, relationship and character development, so i'm hooked!
i'm especially interested in the characters and how they'll change and deal with everything. maybe bond with each other, since they're all they have left? i hope so! i also hope that the next instalments don't end up being only abuse and abuse until they break, and then even more abuse after. i love erotica, sure, but mindless erotica only works when it's short, and there's a helluva quantity of parts in this series.
now, i saw some people here complaining about the misogyny, others complaining about the non-con, so i just gotta ask... do you guys NOT check the synopsis or titles of what y'all choose to read? i don't have to explain the non-con part, that one should be very on the nose, but regarding the misogyny: it's in the title. jocks, my guys. the protagonists are jocks! they're frat boys; young, stupid, privileged, stereotypical. there are bits in this first part itself where the protagonists feel objectified, and realise they've done just the same to women in the past. the sexism is part of the characters, not exactly a reflection of the author's beliefs about women.
the misogyny also doesn't go as far as the protagonists being violent towards women, they're just freakin immature and stupid, so it's not something that should make them difficult to sympathise with or trigger female readers, in case any potential reader is worried about that.
