Ten years ago I gave my virginity to an arrogant, man whoring jerk who never called me back. Ten minutes ago I just found out he’s my new coworker.
Who knew a failed blind date would land me square in the lap of the gorgeous bastard that cut and run after one passionate night ten years ago.
Falling for Nate Baldwin in college was the biggest mistake of my life.
Nothing like a good old fashioned heartbreak to teach a girl a valuable lesson.
Now? He’s just a cocky, prank-playing bastard in an expensive suit.
I can’t decide if I want to punch him in his perfect mouth or kiss it.
Turns out there’s a very fine line between hatred and desire.
A good anger bang on a desk…or stairwell…or car never hurt anyone.
But what happens when he calls a truce and starts playing nice?
Not a chance in hell I’m falling for him again.
That mistake stays in the past.

When Alexis isn't writing away furiously, you can find her exploring the Rocky Mountains, traveling, enjoying a glass of wine or petting a cat.
OMG, OMG... this was one of the BEST stories in the Castille Hotel Series!!
Elise has just moved back home to Chicago after breaking up with her boyfriend and her best friend has set her up on another blind date. They don’t exactly hit it off but when he hears she is a lawyer he offers to interview her to work as his in-house lawyer for his luxury hotel chains. She accepts the offer after hearing who is best friend and CFO is. After ten long years will Elise end up getting her revenge or will all of her old feelings she has tried very hard to bury come back??
I have read a lot of Alexis Winter’s stories and this is by far my favorite. Most of the time reading it I had tears rolling down my cheeks from laughing so hard at the prank war between these two characters. When you fall in-love and they are taken from you, especially with no reason why, time apart only dulls the hurt and love you have for them until fate steps in and puts you together again. I would know since it happened to me. 🖤🖤
I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.
I've just recently started reading books by this author, and I think this one might be my favorite do far.
I think this is very realistic in the fact that Elise has remembered Nate after all of these years, but Nate had to go down memory lane to remember her. Women remember the tiniest details.
Seeing them have an office war was great and hilarious. They didn't communicate very well but it was nice to see them have a little rival.
I'm glad I got a chance to read this book and I look forward to more books by this author!
This author's books are always good. This one is no exception. It has a lot of laugh out loud funny parts along with loving ones. They had one date in college and she fell for him and them bam he was gone. ten long years she had time to miss, hurt and so much more. She gets a chance to work with him again. But now it is for revenge. A very highly recommended read. I received a review copy and voluntarily review it.
This novel had plenty of angst but it just felt too unresolved. We never learn why Nate treated her so badly and he never gives her a genuine apology. Even once they’re together, they never have a deep, honest conversation about it. He was a jerk in college for taking her virginity and promising to call and then avoiding her like the plague. He’s also a jerk 10 years later when he calls her a bitter hag who can’t get over a meaningless one night stand. He never apologizes for that either. He acts like she doesn’t have every right to be upset. Usually with these kind of books, I like to see remorse and character growth but Nate had neither. It really gets under my skin that he never feels bad about how he treated her. He doesn’t deserve her.
There were also numerous grammatical errors and typos, but nothing too confusing. An editor should have caught them.
“Elise was in love with Nate Baldwin since she first saw him , as a freshmen in university and he a senior . “Elise tutors him for a class and decides at a party she gonna tell him how she feels. Both drunk she gives him her v card promises to call her and days he feels for her too but never calls.
Ten years later she get a blind date and learns it Nate best friend from university and business partner . He offers her a job and Nate dont remember her. Once he confronts her and learns who she is war is declared and funny one.. Good book highly enjoyed
This is is very quick read. Starting 10 years ago, Nates graduating collage, Elise is a freshmen, but they do become friends of sorts, definitely more on her side. Fast forward 10 years later, she is still, or again pining for him, although in between she had been in a long term relationship. Not sure if it was that breakup, or if she really was that head over heals in love with him but...well I personally found Elise to very immature. That being said, Nate did love her, and saw the person no one else ever saw.
This is a short romance that “introduces” the Castille Hotel saga.
I liked it, but would’ve must preferred this to be a longer, more well explored and developed novel. Love the humor and comedy in this one. The fight/prank high school style between Nate and Elise was hilarious. Nate is a douch... so that we are cleared and I can’t fandom how Elise manages to fall for the guy... TWICE! Granted he comes through and matured but, girl....
I loved this love hate story about two people who hooked up once in highschool. He never called her and she never forgave him. Roll on 10 years and she is still keeping a grudge, even when they begin working for the same company. Even though they don't get along and keep pranking eachotger, it's not long before they are ripping each other's clothes off!
Cute, short story with dynamic characters. This is the prequel to the Castile Hotel Series. Elise and Nate had “hooked up” once in college and then he never called her. Ten years later, they are working together. Good read!
This story was good, however there were quite a few spelling and grammar mistakes. As a writer myself, I luckily pieced together what the author intended to mean.
Enjoyed Nate and Elise love story. They were so funny they made me laugh. The crazy pranks they did to each other was funny. True love never dies she loved him all her life. He was patient with her she could be a handful at times. Thank you Alexis.
This was a start to another great series from Alexis Winter. This was a see saw read with many different perspectives and characters that could have caused the story to change and end with others picking up the pieces.
"Hate That I Love You" and "Fake It" are my favourites. I like the mischief and pranks between Nate and Elise both in their 30s lol nice touch Alexis Winter.
Hate That I Love You by Alexis Winter was a steamy novella and worth the read if you have time to kill. Elise is a young lawyer who accidentally goes to work at a firm that has a man from her past as CFO. Nate had been a senior in college when she had been a freshman. She had a crush on him, so when they were at a party one night, they slept together. He told her they next day that he would call. He did not. She went a little nuts and texted him -14 times. He never did call. Now all of a sudden, here he is.
The "I hate you," part of the book was extremely entertaining. They had a feud for the ages, pulling every dirty trick they could think of, until one night they could not resist the pull and they had sex. From there on out the story was pretty bland. This is a simple, short read if you don't have much time. It is a hate to love story and not a bad one, but nothing special. I give it a luke-warm recommendation. I received a free ARC of Hate That I Love You. All opinions or interpretations expressed herein are solely my own.
Elise reconnects with Nate after ten years. He was her first lover when they were in college. She remembers it well but he doesn't and cannot understand her cold attitude to him when she starts working at his company. When he finally works it out some tit for tat hilarious pranks happen between them as the attraction reignites. Some hot and steamy encounters follow. Thoroughly recommend. Read an ARC for an honest review.
A beautiful love story with Elise and Nate. Kind of a love and hate. It doesn’t run smooth and that’s why it’s a fun book. It has drama, suspense, arguing, romance, hot, steamy, sizzling, chemistry and I absolutely loved it. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and gave my honest opinion.
ARC review For honest review. This is so funny and great writing 10 stars . Elise and nate had a one night stand that left Elise bitter for years, when they see each other again that's when this book will have you laughing. Awesome
First by this author and it was brilliant. Had me lauging out loud and swooning at Nate. Who knew a chance encounter on a date, would lead to Elise encountering the man who broke her heart all those years ago. Can you really forget the man who took a little piece of your heart?....
Good romance sometimes funny I loved the dialogues, the funny situations and the characters, the way they hate / love each other. I had a great time reading Elise and Tate clashes.
I really enjoyed reading this sweet, funny story. Really loved the pranks between Elise and Nate. Nate and Elise's chemistry was hot. Couldn't put this book down. Highly recommend.
