Awake 5*

An eerie start to a promising series. I was on edge the whole time wondering what was going to happen next. The atmosphere was dark, intense and creepy, and it continued long after finishing. I found Kian to be an incredibly intriguing character. #MINE

Are You Awake 5*

Ashleigh continues to draw me deeper into the lives of Kian and Ivy, keeping me eager and desperate to read more. This one is a real tease but the build up is intensely perfect with a nice dash of creep in the mix. Loved it! #KiansSleepingBeauty

Don't Wake Up 5*

Creepier and more exciting! I am loving where Ashleigh is taking us. Twists, turns and fantastic writing are an addictive combo when Ashleigh is behind the keys. I am salivating for more of this series!

Just a Dream 5*

This series is slowly breaking me. My heart is 100% Kian's and I'm both terrfied and excited to continue reading. I'm as addicted to Kian as he is to Ivy and I can't get enough.

Dead Asleep 5*

*Warning! Tissues are a requirement when reading*

My heart is in pieces and I don't even know how to function right now. Every time I think about this heart-shattering conclusion I break down into sobs. An incredibly emotional and powerful journey and these characters will haunt me forever. I am a complete mess #KiansGirlForLife

Audiobook review

This was a different listen for me. A love story or is it?
He was so intense & creepy I couldn’t find it to be sorry for him when things started happening.
She was a bit wet to me. I felt she needed a push to react.
See the signs, she definitely needed a push.
The story was good, it had good points. It had bad points but overall it was a decent listen.

I found the concept interesting. But I struggled with the female character. She was way too clingy right at first. And considering her past relationship problem, I just didn't buy into that.
Both characters need lots of therapy. lol.
And towards the end I found the relationship between the father and main character weird. Again, too close too soon for me to believe.
Not saying it's a bad book. It isn't. It just wasn't my style.

What the fuck? I don’t even know what to think of this story. First there is this psycho dude and it’s creepy, then the story is something else entirely, then everything is fucked. I don’t even know what that ending was…

It’s a brilliantly written book but I needed it to be firmly something, not kind of a bunch of things.

I listened to the audiobook collection, revisiting books that I had read previously. The narrator's portrayal of Kian was very good and true to that character. Kian is well fleshed out in all his creepiness and complexity through the combination of well-written text and well-executed performance. The female protagonist, on the other hand, is less likeable. A passive character, she is constantly driven by intuition and emotion - seldom following these instincts up with solid investigation - and is easy prey for an unstable and potentially dangerous predator. This collection is tough, gritty, and the edges are jagged and will leaves splinters of discomfort and unease embedded in the mind for a long time yet.
A good book, yes. Well-written. Good performance by the narrator. But did I love it? No.

Review of Awake - The Series (Audiobook)
This is definately not your run of the mill or normal boy meets girl and they live happily ever after type of love story or romance...
This is a sinister and creepy story of dysfunctional love and obsession that was very well written, as disturbing as it is... it pulls you in and you realise that when it comes to matters of the heart and mind nothing is ever simple or uncomplicated.
The narrator Nathan Labogen did an awesome job and definately contributed to the overall atmosphere in the book.

This book was too creepy and disturbing to enjoy. I could not find anything to like about either the caracters. I wanted to to end better too although this was probably the best end for all involved. I also didnot gel with the narrator although i liked the way in which the calls and memories were done.

This was a creepy stalker story that I feel gets justified by a medical condition which does not sit that well with me personally. At first it was eerie and promised good things (especially if you've read Caroline Kepnes' You), but unfortunately there was no development in Awake and then the justifiction of Kian's behaviour is something that makes me angry

The first two books in this serial were amazing! I was intrigued, and fascinated, and simply captivated by the idea of it all. There were serious creeper vibes, similar to the book/show You, which I have both read and watched, but didn't enjoy very much. So I was excited that I was so into this series. Unfortunately, for me the books went downhill as they went on.

After the second book, I felt like it became a different story. There was a new side of the Hero that we get to see, or rather, insight into why he is the way he is. And it took the book from creeper scary to heartbreakingly depressing. Both main characters need so much professional mental health help, and they both needed to get that sorted out before either one could ever successfully enter into a relationship. And the heroine was indecisive and a bit too whiney for me. In the past, I've loved books where I hated one main character, but that didn't end up being the case with the one. Because as much as I loved Kian (up until book 5 anyway), Ivy was the epitome of what I dislike in a heroine, and ruined it for me.

I'm not sure if Awake is classified in the romance genre, but that is the category I've always thought of this author being under, Dark Romance to be more specific. By my definition, a book needs a Happily Ever After, in order to be a romance. Or even a Happy For Now would work. Just to be clear, for me, that DOES NOT have to end with a couple in love having 2.5 babies and a dog. It could be that, or it could be the Hero and heroine living happily with other people, or maybe one dies and the other moves on, or no one is together at the end but a main character finds themselves in a way that is so beautiful you can't help but be happy for them. But however that ending is achieved, I need it to end on an HEA if it's going to be a romance. And simply put, I don't think this book achieved any of that, which in the end, ruined it all for me.

I am emotionally scarred from reading this book. This book feels like your puppy got ran over by your dad as he was leaving you to go get milk...forever. Unless you want to sob quietly in the corner while listening to Christina Perri and Adele, don't do it.
