This is my first book by this author and I was not disjointed with the story there was drama, suspense, seam and adorability in the form of Zoe. I am voluntarily reviewing an ARC if this book.
Roman hasn’t always been on the right path in life after losing his parents as young teenager he was recruited by Lloyd the unofficial kingpin of Sacramento, coasting through life living frivolously and having more money than he knew what to do with tha is until he met Crystal and he thought he fell in love but things weren’t as they seemed and Crystal was paying both sides and finding out she was pregnant changed everything. Running was all they could do but the danger was alway going to catch up with them and Roman lost the woman he loved and was left a single father. Hiding away on a mountain with his little girl unprepared for Leslie and what she could do to his heart, does she really need his help or is she there to lead him and his daughter to danger, can he really trust her with his and his daughters life and if she was to learn the truth would she even want him?
Leslie is having the day from hell in a hurry to stop her best friend from attending a meeting knowing it could lead literally to life or death, she crashes her car and has to rely on a man she knows nothing about to help her get to safety. Unable to contact Rochelle and stuck on the mountain in the middle of a storm she has little choice but to accept Roman as he is but she can feel he has many secrets and she is determined to uncover them all but when danger literally comes for them in the middle of the night she discovers his biggest secret of all an adorable bundle of cuteness called Zoe, will she turn and run or stay with Roman? and what of his other secrets and lies will she forgive them or should she walk away with her heart broken?
Enjoyable read there were parts that felt a little superfluous and went on for too long but the suspense and drama definitely kept the story interesting from start to finish. Will I read this author again, definitely, this was a 3.5 🌟 read.
Suspense filled, a heart-warming romance, wonderful characters, a total MUST-READ! Some men do what is right for the wrong reasons, and some do what is wrong for the right reasons. Some men get trapped into what is wrong, but then do their best to make it right. Roman Arbuckle, the lead male character in author Aubrey Wright’s latest romance novel, TITLE, is the third kind of man. He is also a devoted father, a hunk of a man, and is the only thing that has turned attorney Leslie Rutherford away from her workaholic ways, even with her bestie in potentially dire straits. The kind of trouble that could cost her friend, Rochelle’s, life if Leslie can’t get to her quickly enough. Enter the snow, a tree, more snow, no electricity, or cell reception to this mystery of a mountain man, and I was hooked. Then, because there wasn’t enough suspense; more danger, a death-defying car chase and trying to avoid the billion-dollar hit on Roman’s life is thrown into the mix! Add all of that fun to the amazing, well-developed characters who are easy to love and root for their happy ending; it is no wonder that TITLE captured my attention and held it until the last word was read. TITLE has a bit of everything! Hot scenes, descriptive and persuasive prose that is easy to read, great characters and a complex and action-packed plotline with the perfect amount of angst. All of this points to TITLE being any romance reader’s BEST NEXT PURCHASE! I volunteered to read a copy of TITLE and this is my honest, VOLUNTARY review. TITLE is a 5+STAR recommendation for all of the reasons cited above. It is a stellar read, so I’m STRONGLY recommending you get your copy of TITLE today! Happy pages! 😉
Ms. Aubrey Wright has just released a wonderfully written romance with Defending What's Mine.
Roman Arbuckle, a single Father, has taken shelter on an isolated mountain, escaping from a horrible past, when Leslie disrupts his peace and quiet as well as life as he now knows it. Leslie, a lawyer, gets into a fender bender with a tree, while rushing off the snowy mountain retreat, in order to assist her friend, Rochelle, in a life or death situation. Getting stranded is not something that this strong willed woman was expecting. Finding a mountain man with secrets is not something she has time for... and the clock is definitely ticking. I encourage all fans of exquisitely crafted romance to follow along as Leslie and Roman take the journey of a lifetime towards their happily ever after. Within these unique pages, you will find danger and intrigue as well as a love so strong, that you'll be as enraptured as myself with this impressive release.
I voluntarily requested an advanced reader's copy of Defending What's Mine in exchange for my honest & voluntarily given opinion and I highly recommend reading this book as well as anything written by Ms. Wright.
Leslie crashes her car on the way to rescue her friend and rescued by Roman. Roman just wants to get Leslie out of his cabin and off his mountain as soon as possible but a storm means she is stuck until the next day. Leslie know that Roman is keeping a secret by what she is noticing around the cabin and how he is telling her to stay in only 2 rooms. After explaining her friends situation to him Roman still won't agree to drive down the mountain. When Leslie stumbles upon Roman's secret and sees his daughter all hell breaks loose as trouble lands on their doorsteps literally. They have to leave quickly before the bad guys get them. Roman has so many secrets its like Leslie no sooner discovers one then he reveals another. Will they be able to save her friend? What other secrets does Roman have? Can Leslie give him a second chance?
This is a great story that'll have you on the edge of your seat from the first page until the last. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.
Hidden truths and lies. One faithful night and suddenly three people are tangled in the web of lies of criminal underworld. Looks like coincidences don't exists but sometimes universe just does everything it can so that we end up in the place we shouldn't even be. This time one situation starts a whole avalanche of events. There's danger, drama, action, suspense, romance and some serious connection between main characters. That leads to some hot, schmexy moments. Chemistry between Leslie and Roman is just off the charts. Story line is very well build and every page brings more tension until we reach the peak and story starts to unravel. Plot is paced perfectly and characters are very well developed. There was a lot that really surprised me in this story and I didn't expect some moments, it added to my curiosity and kept me reading. The ending is one of the best and the epilogue just what I waited for...
This book is a little more of a romantic suspense than what Aubrey normally writes but she has really knocked it out of the park and she can obviously write this genre
Leslie Rutherford a workaholic lawyer is rushing to the aid of her fried Rochelle when she loses control of she car on a mountain road. Her accident happens on the land belonging to Roman Arbuckle a single father who has retreated to the mountains to keep his daughter Zoey safe He nows that people from his past are after him and so far he has retreated Then he meets Leslie after rescuing her he loves the way she bonds with his daughter and he is especially loves the way she makes him feel and he is claiming her. DISCLOSURE; Strictly on a volunteer basis, I reviewed a pre-release copy via Bad Boy Update.
Gripping suspense, action, engaging characters, humor, secrets, horrific life-threatening moments, an adorable toddler and steamy romance make this an exciting read.
Roman's dark past has him hiding from the outside world in a remote mountain cabin. Leslie a sassy lawyer has a car accident on his property. Heavy snow has them confined to his cabin where a romance begins to blossom. Roman hides many secrets from inquisitive Leslie. When the dangers of the past collide with his future, Roman needs to protect what he cares for. Will Roman's secrets have Leslie turning away from the man and little girl she has come to adore?
Fabulous entertaining well-written creative read. Leslie and Roman's chemistry is convincing; loved them together.
I have read many from Aubrey. Every single one has grabbed my attention. This one grabbed it from the very beginning. Leslie is on her way to rescue her friend when she has an accident. Roman the man that owns the tree that she crashes into comes upon her and basically tells her she is there at his house for the night. Roman is a man of mystery. A whole lot of mystery. There is something or someone that he is hiding in his house. Him and Leslie seem to hit it off even if Roman doesn't want to feel for her. But then Roman's world is turned upside down and they have to go on the run. That is when Leslie finds out one of his secrets. This was indeed a very interesting book. It had it all. Suspense, twists, turns, a cute lovable little baby, a caring alpha male, a feisty best friend. Aubrey writes amazing books. Every single one I have read has been well written. This was amazing. I loved the characters, the storyline and the chemistry. Highly recommend.

Leslie a lawyer, her friend Rochelle also a lawyer (a reckless one) so Rochelle gets caught up fighting against a mysterious slum lord. Only to be kidnapped by a criminal kingpin, to bring said slum lord out of hiding. Leslie crashes her car into a tree on Romans property . Helping her just might be his downfall. Turns out they are both paranoid people. Leslie because Roman keeps giving off weird vibes, he is hot and cold and is hiding a few secrets. There is plenty of conflicting moments. Lies upon lies are told slightly obscuring the truth. But the damage is done. Feelings are involved a surprise baby (not what you're thinking) fighting, a lot of legal jargon, sex, gun battles, car chases, alot of time passes before Leslie and Roman get their HEA. Find out who gets shot , who leaves Roman his empire (OOPS spoilers) but what does he do with it. How does a billionaire turn into a popper? And back up again.
I read an ARC of this book and am voluntarily writing my review I really loved this book, I thought it was very well written and the characters couldn't have been more perfect. Lesile and Roman are great characters and they just click. Roman has had a hard life and is a single Father and lives on the mountain away from the world. Leslie is a lawyer and her work friend is just about to make the biggest mistake of her life, so Leslie is taking a short cut hoping to get to her friend in time, only she crashes her car on Romans property. Hoping Roman would help her get down the mountain to help her friend but no he won't as he refuses to go down the mountain as a storm is coming. Luckily his daughter isn't around. Roman knows that whats happened to her friend is something from his past. Things come to light about Roman but will Leslie be able to cope with his past. Time will tell. I enjoyed reading this book so much, that I was totally hooked. Great job Aubrey White highly recommend
This book is the first one I read by this author, and it will not be the last. The story centers around Roman Artbuckle and Leslie Rutherford. He is a recluse in the mountains with many secrets. Leslie is an attorney stuck on the mountain in the middle of a snowstorm when she’s rescue by Roman. Neither realized that meeting would change their lives forever. As secrets are revealed and the danger escalates, their lives are on the line. It’s a story reminding us that life is not black or white but varying degrees of gray. Will they be able to overcome the obstacles to find love and happiness, or will those shades of gray hinder their future? This was a well written story with an engaging plot and complex characters. I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
What would you do if you were trying to make a new path in life for yourself and your child? In this book that is what Roman is doing. Up in the mountains he is trying to make sure everything is safe for the two of them from a life he left behind. That is until Leslie runs into a tree on the mountain and is stuck with home for a few days. She needs to get to Sacramento to help her friend but now with a storm approaching there is no way for her to get there. When she asks Roman to help, he tells her he can’t but what is he hiding?? Zoe for one who is his daughter but when men with bad intentions stalk his property will he finally tell her the truth?? You’ll have to read the book to find out. The book is written well, the characters were enjoyable and there is plenty of action, suspense and even love to keep you intrigued. Enjoy..
I do enjoy a good story and this was one. Roman has a secret. One he has to keep hidden but when Leslie crashes her car on his property he is torn between helping her and wanting to get rid of her. Then matters are taken out of his hands and they are on the run. I loved the connection between Roman and Leslie and how it was portrayed during the story. I was glad that Leslie was portrayed as a clever and strong woman and Roman was totally alpha. The story was intriguing from the beginning with plenty of twists and turns to keep you absorbed. I was really rooting for Roman when there was danger and hoped he would come out the other side. I especially loved the way Zoe was portrayed in the book and just adored her way of chatting. This was a very sexy, romantic heart in the mouth page turner and highly recommended as another good story from ubrey Wright.
ONE INCREDIBLE ROLLERCOASTER RIDE!!! Holy Hell! Wow! One thrilling, nailbitng, action packed, hard hitting, page turning, explosive wonder that makes for one impressive ride. The characters personalities are constantly in motion, playing off one another in perfect balance as their connection stands strong. The main characters chemistry sizzles from the pages and suck you in so deeply until you feel the heat and electricity thrumming through your veins. Combating all the trials and tribulations along with a horde of twists and turns bring this baby together impeccably. A spinning, twisting vortex of inadvertent happenstance and surprising mishaps catapults your swirling emotions into play fluidly. The drama, angst, danger and suspense blaze through melding this baby together one jagged piece at a time. Fantastic job Aubrey, thanks for sharing this little treasure.
A wonderful story, going from hiding and lonely to out in the open and with a big family a Roman lived in the mountain with his daughter, hiding from his old life. Leslie worked all the time and finally she had a weekend off, for skiing. Things happens - her car ended up in a tree. A storm was on it’s way and she couldn’t get help at once. Then she met Roman, who didn’t want her in his house, but couldn’t let her freeze outside... There’s the start. It was so much more than a man in the mountains, meeting a woman, falling in love, living happily ever after. Why is Roman hiding and why did Leslie end up in a tree??? I couldn’t stop reading, had to get every time possible to continue reading. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
This was a great book! Leslie and Roman were such good characters! Leslie Rutherford was driving in a snow storm to get to her friend, Rochelle. Leslie had a wreck and hit a tree on the property of Roman Arbuckle. Roman lets her go to his cabin to get out of the snow so she won't freeze to death but he isn't happy about it. Once inside Roman makes it clear that he has no intention of leaving his home. He will make satellite calls for her for a tow and a cab but that is it. She tells him she has to get to her friend because she is in grave danger. Roman keeps sneaking away for long periods of time and it is clear to Leslie he is hiding something or someone. But nothing prepares her for what lies ahead.
It started a bit slow and I didn’t think I would like it as much as I hoped, but as secrets started to reveal I couldn’t turn pages fast enough! Roman and Leslie were both likable characters with great chemistry between them. I liked that they were well developed and complex characters. The storyline was well written and secrets, mystery and suspense made this book really engaging read.
The reason I removed one star was ending. I really loved epilogue, it was definitely heartwarming and perfect. However, couple of chapters before epilogue seemed really rushed and it didn’t really feel like everything is wrapped up. Other than that it was really enjoyable read and baby Zoe will definitely steal your heart!
This is a great story with wonderful characters. Leslie is just trying to get back down the mountain to help her friend get out of trouble. Unfortunately the icy road and a tree don't want to cooperate and she ends up sliding on the icy road into said tree. She finds herself on Roman Arbuckle's property with an impending snow storm on the way. She tries to appeal to Roman's good side to see if she can get a ride from him, but he is adamant that he can't leave his property to take her in to town. She ends up stuck at his house because of the storm and she realizes Roman has a secret that he doesn't plan to share with her. This is an intriguing story and once I started reading it I couldn't stop until I reached the end. Great read and I highly recommend it!
IT’S 6 STARS FROM ME! From ‘Page 1’ to ‘Page the end’ I was SO hooked. Roman finds Leslie in her banged up car against his tree where she wrecked. And so it begins. It becomes a great story of love, intrigue, ups and downs, bad guys, good guys, a few chuckles, a couple of stray tears and one very happy ending. I’m not going to re-hash the story here for review. I hope it is enough to say that this is one of Aubrey Wright’s finest story lines. Every one of the characters are well thought out and important to the story. If there was a place for me to give it a 6-star rating instead of a 5-star rating I definitely would! LOVED IT! I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
OMG, I could not put this book down. We have mystery, suspense and more. Granted there was spots that could have been written better, but granted I did cry in spots. We have Leslie and attorney on her way to protect her friend that is a lawyer too. When she wrecks her car on and nothing in sight. Nothing works. Roman takes her to his cabin, and try's to keep his secrets while helping her. Then she finds one and no sooner then that everything hits the fan. What will happen? Will Roman be able to keep them safe? Can he change? Can Leslie stay with him? Can he help protect her friend? Will she ever forgive him? Can he make his daughter life better? I received a free copy for my honest review.
Wow, excellent romantic suspense that changes the lives of the main characters, Roman and Leslie. Roman helped Leslie when she had a car accident. He’s a man with many secrets yet chooses to live alone, in a beautiful house, on a mountain. Leslie is a dedicated attorney who’s frantically worried about her partner/friend. The two characters seem so different yet feel a strong attraction. I love the way the story builds and holds the reader to the story and turning pages quickly. I loved the storyline and characters. I received a complementary copy of this book and chose to write a review. I enjoy reading Ms. Wright’s stories and am looking forward to the next book.
Take one super-alpha of a guy with a trinket last (hello Roman) sweet girl to protect (hi, Zoey), add one pretty close to perfect heroine (that’s you, Leslie), mix in romance, major suspense and thrills, plus great characters and a really superbly written plot, and the result is Aubrey Wright’s Defending What's Mine. Definitely worth the read. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend.

Leslie is a lawyer that decides to take a vacation from work and when she crashes her car near a house she has no idea what faith has sent her way. Roman is a mountain man that you will believe at first is just a isolated guy ,but as Leslie breaks down his bareal she finds a hole different guy underneath that could be more trouble than she is willing to see what lie beneath that . I received this book as a arc for a honest review it is a book that has a lot of action, drama and few heart felt moments in between .I would most definitely give this book a try if I was looking for a heart felt drama with a or of heat.
OOH! So many tropes I love in one book! Roman is an alpha bad boy/mountain man/with a surprise who is trying to live peacefully all by himself. His peace, peace of mind and safety, are put in jeopardy when he rescues a stranded Leslie during a snow storm. They don't trust each other, but he is determined to not let her out in the storm. She has no idea that his secrets and his past are directly intertwined with the fate of her best friend. The secrets soon come out and they will need to rely on each other, while trying not to give in to their growing attraction. This is a fast paced, suspenseful, passionate story that will keep you glued to the pages!
I'm curious about all the 5 star reviews of this book. I'm giving 2 stars only because Zoe was so adorable. The whole issue between Roman and Leslie would have disappeared if he had just been honest with her.
Suspense, surprise, heat, action, chemistry? Be prepared to check all boxes with this one! Defending What's Mine is an intense story. I started reading this a little late in the day thinking I would check out a few chapters before bed. Next thing I know I'm done and it's after 2AM. The story isn't predictable and leaves you on the edge of your seat while you try and unravel the mystery.
Jump down the rabbit hole, trust me it's worth it.
I received an advanced copy of this story through Bookfunnel and am leaving a voluntary honest review.
