I liked a lot this (very, very) short story ... I'm very curious about Gillian !! I can't wait to read more about her life on the west coast of Scotland ..
Gillian, a woman living alone by the river is elusive and captivating, as she embraces her emotions of loving a woman from afar.
A cute short story that brought intrigue and mystery, whilst building a beautiful scene for the reader, and exquisite imagery with description of the lovey scenery by the river, and where Gillian lives. Well written, and an exciting prequel to what sounds like a promising novella.
A very short story, but what a way to get the reader hooked! I am excited to learn more about Gillian (hopefully, very soon!)
Gillian’s elusive nature make her a mystery, and as she has little interaction other than from afar, it really builds tension, and intrigue not only about her, but the woman she loves, and the others that surround her home.
Very mysterious, and I really am looking forward to more!!!
This is a short story. Very short. I wanted to know more, more, more! The author, a newcomer nearly on the scene as a story writer, promises this is a prequel to a greater story to come. I'm intrigued and I'll wait impatiently for the rest. I see great things coming and I hope she doesn't keep us waiting too long.
Basically Gillian hiding a secret that she has magical skills, carries a wand and when she see's someone that she could help she does. Yet it's a secret no one knows about but her, she took over for her mom, knew it was lonely life and she's likes the Coffee shop lady.
The only good thing with free short stories like this, it gives you a sample of the author's writing and whether or not to try more offerings from the author.
I was just getting into this when I realised that I had finished it. I had forgotten it was a short story. It was an enjoyable read and I look forward to reading more about Gillian.
I will also be checking out this authors other books.
A nice cozy short story about a woman that has magical giftings that help those that really need help. Its in a setting of a small town in fall and she is thinking as shes getting ready to go to town to the coffee shop how to help others like her mother has done and what she told her daughter. On the way to the coffee shop she starts thinking if today is the day she will open up to Diane and tell her that she wants more than just being really close friends but then discards it. When she gets there she finds her table and before u know it Diane brings out her coffee to her. And ponders as she people watch bout her feelings for Diane then she spots some old woman in need of her help...... Im not going to spoil it all for you so go grab a copy of it and dive in!!!
Now, here’s the thing. I can only imagine how hard it is to put a big old twist in a story that’s so short, but Kitty McIntosh does it so beautifully that I wanted to give this well-written, stunningly visual story the full five stars. I loved her characters and scene-setting and I really look forward to reading more of her work. But at only ten pages long, I finished the story before my cup of coffee. I'm sorry, I’m greedy. I wanted more.
I enjoyed this read, but it was much too short! I wanted to know more about Gillian. There was so much the author could have done with this.... but it was cut short.
Oh no, it was over way too soon. I hope the author continues this story as now I’m too curious to know about the protagonist. Great start of a novel perhaps.
