Excellent recommendations for every region in France - including 'must see' attractions and 'off the beaten path' gems. We found a lovely local hotel in Normandy (with a superb in house restaurant) and all kinds of information on the Dday beaches. The gem of our trip - a small hotel in a very small resort town west of Cannes - was a recommendation from this book. The history and background are necessarily brief but very informative and we found nearly everything we needed in just this one volume. Highly recommend.

Disappointed. I traveled around France and very few of the cities I stopped at were in this book. Those that were included had scant little details about the city's history.

I had a Lonely Planet guide to Germany for the week before and was thrilled with it. I'll stick to lonely Planet from now on....
