Had high expectations from this book spl since my daughter had started associating words with emotions by watching things on tv. What’s good is that the book has kids from diverse backgrounds- there’s a Noor and a Mohammed - names that you don’t often see in regular kids books. Unfortunately some of the wording in the book is not something I personally subscribe by eg some food has been described as “disgusting”. Planning to edit the language myself (!) since I have already purchased it. Regret not reading it before purchasing.
This is an excellent lift-the-flap book for our tiniest readers, for both parent and child to talk about feelings that we might encounter day to day.
Each spread looks at happy, scary, yucky, situations and a big lift-the-flap enables the child to experience and talk about the feelings associated with them.
Lots of fun, and quite crucial for helping to build emotional resilience — and I think, perfect for older special needs kids too.
Great book for really young students. I love the concept of telling a small story, and asking how the kids think the character feels, then lifting the flap. This book does an amazing job at showing the different emotions and using facial expressions, which is super important for young readers to know about stories.
A great way to help children understand their feelings, with simple examples and engaging activities. I also liked the small prompts that encourage them to share their own experiences—it makes the book feel interactive and personal. A thoughtful and useful read for emotional learning. Although the book is a little delicate.
Used this book today when teaching 3 year old english. Lovely book that allows the children to be tactile while listening to me talk english to them :)
I'd say great for ages 3-7 as it can be looked at again and again. The book is very sturdy for little hands as well :)
