Tracy grew up in Berkshire as part of a large and noisy family. She now lives in a small village in Surrey with her motorbike-loving partner and her little rescue dog, Poppy. Prior to becoming an author, Tracy worked for the charity Citizens Advice for over twenty-five years. She held various different roles in her time there, including advising prisoners, representing clients in the County Court, and managing a local office. She worked with an amazing group of volunteers, who gave up their time freely to help their community. She also found it a great avenue for ‘people-watching’, something that as a writer, provided endless inspiration for character development and story ideas.

Since the age of eleven, Tracy has been actively involved in amateur dramatics and she’s acted in many productions, written sketches, and directed shows. Her first role was in Aladdin. She played a jewel in the genie’s cave and was told to ‘stand there and sparkle’ – not exactly taxing stuff. While most teenagers spent their free time obsessing with fashion, make-up, pop music and boys, Tracy would often be found prancing around the stage pretending to be Miss Muffet, Bessie the Milkmaid, and her personal favourite, Aurora the Goose. Adulthood brought with it more serious roles, such as Nora in The Dolls House and Maggie in Hobson’s Choice. She’s also played Viola in Twelfth Night and Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Her favourite role was Geraldine Granger in The Vicar of Dibley.

Tracy started writing in her late twenties, song lyrics, sketches for pantomimes, before discovering her love for novel writing. Over the years she’s written numerous short stories, a number of which have been published in My Weekly magazine. She’s also been short-listed for several writing competitions, and won 1st prize in the Southern Daily Echo Feature Article competition. In 2024, Tracy’s novel Only For Christmas won the prestigious RNA Festive/Holiday Award.

Tracy describes her writing style as modern tales of romance, with engaging quirky characters, who overcome adversity, grow as people, and conclude in a satisfying optimistic ending.

After Lexi’s ex cheats and leaves, she spends all of her time picking up the mess of broken financial pieces he’s left behind. But everything will be fine so long as she keeps her art gallery going. And with her new job of evaluating a private art collection for an estate in Scotland, things are finally looking up. That is until she comes across a mysterious painting in the family’s collection. Soon she’s whisked off on a Highland adventure with Olly, the suddenly new Early of Horsley, whose own family secrets draw them together in the art world.

Author Tracy Corbett kicks things off with a bit of an explosion. A cheating ex suddenly back in the picture. Shady insurance money. Stunning art. And that’s all before the heroine even meets her potential love interest on the page— and that encounter involves a misunderstood break in and a knife. All of this might sound a bit hectic and, in a way, it is. However, Corbett’s work shines best when she’s racing to a clear path through all the chaos.

Part of why this works is her careful attention to the romantic leads. Lexie is at a low point in her life, scrambling to hold her art gallery together while forging a new life for herself. Olly is at a similar low point as he’s just inherited a financially unstable estate from his father. And since there’s such an obvious connection between them, their stories are expertly woven together— if only they could just see how they’re connected.

All of this isn’t to suggest everything is always so charming. At its base, the plot relies on some deception from both Lexie and Olly. However, Corbett manages to approach these elements that could be off-putting in such a compelling and realistic way. These are characters simply acting as they naturally would in complicated situations, and it makes for refreshing reading. As in life, stories can’t always wrap up in a sweet ending with no broken ‘rules’, and this book is proof of that. Toss in an awful ex, a few prickly siblings, and some legal questions, and there’s plenty of tension to go with the romance.

Yet, the star of this book is perhaps Corbett’s Scotland backdrop that provides a swoon-worthy setting, topping off this fun and surprising romance.

I loved the 'art world' setting- which was new but interesting to me. I love the idea of living in a castle, so I loved the Scottish castle where Lexi accepts a job cataloguing the art work. There is an underlying mystery and also problems with an ex to overcome.
I quickly engaged with the characters and could just imagine settling down for a breakfast with them all.

Another fabulous book by Tracy Corbett

I could not put this book down, from the start it had me gripped. Tracy has a wonderful way of writing her characters feel very real and you feel that you are in the story with them. The setting in the highlands is a great choice, having been there myself I felt that I have revisited them without leaving my chair! I can't recommend this book and all of Tracy's others highly enough and I'm hoping that Tracy is working on a new book!

Secret Things and Highland Flings is a fun, light read with a castle as the backdrop. The plot is interesting and the characters are all well written. In terms of romance, this one is low on the steam but high on the sweetness.

It was fun to be swept away into a castle in Scotland. The family dynamic between all the characters is entertaining. Their affection for each other came through in the writing. Tasha is definitely my favorite character. I would love to read a book with her as the lead.

It was a predictable story. I found myself skimming towards the end. But, in terms of bright, breezy reads, this one hits the mark.

*I received a copy of this book through Netgalley. Opinions are my own*

DNF at 16%.
I’m an avid romance reader, and I love all kinds of subgenres, but I didn’t know what to do with this book. In my personal opinion, I think the author was trying a little bit too hard. As a consequence, to me, it all fell flat and despite the abundance of drama-elements, I just wanted out. I guess the other reviewers saw something I didn’t, and I hope more readers will love this book and agree with the more-positive reviewers.

The hero, heir to a Scottish title, left home at eightteen and lived on the European mainland for about ten years... living on what? His sisters are mad that he left. The estate is in financial trouble, but selling it would hurt his sister’s feelings so that’s not an option. Uhm... why?
The heroine owns an art gallery and has fimancial problems, an ex-husband who’s after her for money she suposedly stole, a twinsister who has just been dumped by her girlfriend and can see that a painting is 16th century because she has an art degree... Uhm why?

Since this is marketed as a romance, I would have liked to see the author spend more time on the emotional state of mind of hero and heroine, and what they wished for in the love department. As it is, the information about the hero and heroine, felt like random information because no meaning was added to it. Characters, to me, only become interesting when their situation makes me feel something.

Unfortunately this book was DNF one. I read half of it and I couldn't get in to it. Both main characters, Oliver Wentworth and Lexi Ryan, were just meh. I could not connect to them. I considered them both annoying and from what I read I didn't see how they could end up together. There was just too many secrets and both seemed untrustworthy. Even they had a difficult time keeping track of their lies.

I tried to get into this book, I really really did, but I couldn’t, no matter how hard I tried. It has never taken me more than a few days to finish a book, but this one took me nine whole days.

The characters and story was just too slow, no ups or downs, push pull that I could hang my hat on. It was just too slow moving that I couldn’t enjoy it.

Hmmm...this is a hard one. Technically, there wasn't anything wrong with this book. It hit all the romance check points: HEA, a little drama, humor, likable characters, etc. However, nothing really remarkable stood out to me. I read this and yet I can't think of anything that really, truly separates it from the millions of other books just like it.

All that being said, it was a pretty good book and if you don't mind more of the same or if you just want a book that passes the time and makes you feel good for a little while then, by all means, you'll probably like this book too. It's a very easy read and it fits the genre to a "T," literally.

Would I recommend this? Maybe...

I'm giving it a four star because, like I said, it's technically a great story....

Lexi and her twin sister Tash are both ‘arty’ with advanced degrees from Oxford and their own way of looking at the world. Where Lexi is, after being scammed by her ex-husband and barely holding on to her own place, a gallery owner with a solid reputation and a penchant for medieval artworks, Tash has embraced the art scene with a twist as a tattoo artist. The two appear as different as night and day with Tash’s dark clothing, tattoos and ‘in your face’ approach to life where Lexi is fond of her vintage style, baking and trying to build her business. Sharing a building left by their grandmother, the two have neighbouring shopfronts and share one of the two flats upstairs, the other is rented out for extra income. With a query to evaluate a collection of paintings from Ruhba Castle in Sheildaig Scotland, she’s got a new plan. But a receiver at the door shortly after her ex-husband’s reappearance and his demand that some ill-gotten funds be returned have Lexi worried about the next step. This worry increases when she catches Olly in her storeroom, obviously hunting for something that doesn’t belong to him.

Olly left the family home some eleven years ago after he decided he couldn’t deal with his parents’ judgment, demands or the lack of belief he had in them. With his artistic talent honed by his mother, he was tired of always trying to ‘be enough”. But his return has made one sister very happy, angered the other, and left him smack in the middle of a struggle about finances, two homes and which is sold. Dealing with the anger from his sister Sophie, even from her townhouse in Windsor is bad enough, but not being able to share why he left leaves him feeling as if nothing will ever be enough. Of course, things are even more fraught as his sister Louisa doesn’t want to leave the castle, is pregnant with her first child, collects stray animals like others do shoes AND is confined in her movement after being run over by a renegade Shetland pony that resulted in her broken leg.

Oh this was fun and the families, both Tash and Lexi and Olly and his sisters are lovely, and when Lexi goes to the castle to evaluate other works and plan an exhibit, the lies and deceptions heat up, and even though the connection between Olly and Lexi is palpable, neither is being totally honest. We’ve got copies of old masters, a painter who hadn’t for over a decade, an ex-husband who won’t stop trying to run a scam, a very devoted and prickly sister (no wait – make that two sisters), secrets, more secrets and constant worries, questions and guilt for Lexi. She doesn’t like lying, and when her sister comes clean, she’s angry and feels deceived. Again. Of course, it will take both Tash and Olly with his sister Sophie, plenty of secrets unearthed into the light, and lots of confidences shared, but there is happy moments (and a big surprise) for everyone at the end. Light, fun, twisty and completely engaging, these are people you want to have as friends and neighbors.

I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

Firstly check out that cover design that has romance and fun combined within it and then continue into the book.

Enter the charm and delightful romance of the book of relationships, art, but also the tangled web that is weaved in the art world and who exactly is Dazed and Confused?

The book opens up to rather unfortunate events for Lexi Ryan, that in someways is actually quite humourous. Things do however take a darker turn as her art gallery – The Munch Museum is being investigated by HMRC. I wanted to read on to see what the involvement of Marcus is as the book started to reel me in.

The first encounter with Oliver Wentworth (Olly) doesn’t exactly go to plan as Lexi tries to deliver a painting and with Lexi in a tiz over the painting, Olly trying to convince her he is genuine and Louisa’s baby on its way, it is all happening at Rubha Castle.

The scenery is depicted very well and captures the picturesque beauty of it very well. The book takes readers to Shieldaig in the Wester-Ross region of Scotland, 68 miles west of Inverness. There are of course the castles (as there are in many parts of Scotland). The castle here is Rubha Castle and I like that there is a real sense of the up-keep of such a castle is not easy at all. The contrast between the idyllic, beautiful scenery and a conversation and the emotions works so well as does the disclosure of secrets that are discovered bit by bit.

I must add that I enjoyed that there was such a good combination of art, auction house, scenery, architecture, love life, family life and that not everything is quite as it first appears to be.

This was a delightful read as I sat in the garden with the hot sun beating down (yes, it can even get hot in Scotland) as the story glided from page to page in a relaxing manner. This is a romance, but it also has substance and a good plot. It really is a great heartwarming book to chill out with.

Please note that this is a stand-alone book and at the back of the book there is a note from the author and details of other books.

The good 👍🏼
- The Scottish highlands setting. Rubha Castle, the views, the beaches, the drive. Beautiful.
- Good pacing of the story. I didn’t feel like it dragged anywhere.
- A decent amount of plot development and drama.
- Nicely balanced MC. Flawed but relatable, my kind of gal.
- Very little OTT Scottish slang, avoiding the pitfalls of ridiculous people-don’t-actually-talk-like-this dialogue that I’ve seen (and heard) before.
- Also very little stereotypically Scottish things, i.e. no mention of haggis, irn bru, gingers, kilts etc. A few bagpipes and tartan, but nothing that can’t be forgiven.
- The theme of art which underpinned the entire story, which I enjoyed much more than I had expected. Despite knowing all of one mentioned piece (Edvard Munch; The Scream 😱), it wasn’t overdone where it really could have been.

The bad 👎🏼
- For me, by far the weakest aspect of the story was the dual POV. We really didn’t need Olly’s side of things. (Women rule lol). But seriously, it meant that we already knew the reasons behind his actions, any twists that were coming, and didn’t allow us to learn about him alongside Lexi. Kind of took all the fun and excitement out of it.
- Some one-sided characters with no depth (looking at you, Marcus.)
- Tasha leaned a little too heavy into her role as the scary emo sister.
- The romance? Where was the ‘fling’ part of the title? It barely scratched the surface. Kind of made it hard to stomach their declarations of love.
- Speaking of the title - it is seriously cringy.

A fluffy read, settle in with a good cuppa. 3/5 🌟

Maybe it's my weakness for anything involving Scotland but I have to say that this new to-me author wrote one heck of a wonderful book! Tracy Corbett combines sharp humor with a bit of mystery as Lexi Ryan finds herself in the breathtaking Highlands trying to sort her life out while cataloging exceptional art belonging to the very sexy Oliver Wentworth, also known as the Earl of Horsley.

Both characters are sheer delight as they try not to fall for the other all the while desperate to keep their secrets hidden. Lexi is intelligent yet picks the wrong men. And Ollie never really figures himself as one to settle down. However, their attraction is quite electric and leads to all kinds of adventures as they try to fix what has been wronged by Lexi's horrid ex-husband. In the meantime, there are great scenes involving Ollie's two sisters and Lexi's own tough as nails sister. Those encounters had me laughing and shaking my head as they all fall into a plan to retrieve a priceless work of art. It is extremely clever and the substory involving Ollie's family and their own desperation to keep their castle weaves throughout the book beautifully.

The descriptions of one of my most favorite places on earth is truly the extra bit of happy that I thoroughly enjoyed.

I hope to find more from this author because her writing style and attention to detail is something I most definitely crave in many books I pick up.

5 solid stars!

Having read Starlight on the Palace Pier (and loved it), I was happy to see another story of Tracy Corbett. I wish I could be as enthusiastic about Secret Things and Highland Flings as the previous book. But unfortunately I can't. It is not a terrible book, but it just didn't knock me off my socks. Maybe Tracy tried too hard. The story just dragged on a bit too long. And the credibility of the story was off course zero to non. Of course there are louse men who screw around and take all the money from your joint account. Forging papers isn't very likely. And even less likely is that the pay-out of the insurance is done in cash and is lying around and found by you. But in this book it happened. Lexi found the money of her lying and cheating ex-husband and decided to keep it.
Same goes for Oliver (or Ollie) who was taught to replicate art by his mother, only to find out she had sold his replica as the original painting for two million dollars. Totally believable... NOT.
So, in all, it was a nice story with some twists and turns. But because the story was a bit over the top, it was hard to connect to the characters. Making the story okay-ish but just not great. Therefore three out of five stars and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

3.5 stars - Thank you to Net Galley & Avon Books for a copy of this ebook!
Lexi's life has been a little bit of a mess lately. Her ex-husband ran off to Spain with his assistant, leaving her homeless, bankrupt, and close to losing her beloved art gallery, handed down to her by her grandmother. When she is commissioned to evaluate & sell some art from a family estate, she gets a big surprise that she isn't expecting.
Olly has recently reconnected with his family, after leaving abruptly 11 years prior. His sisters are back at their family estate in the Scottish Highlands, and they're having to try to figure out what to do with the house, as their finances are tight.
When Lexi and Olly meet, they are attracted to each other, but unsure how to proceed. Neither realizes that the other is hiding something. Will they be able to overcome their secrets?
I thought this was a cute book! It was a sweet story, and I loved the mixture of the art in the story (especially with the references to famous paintings). The setting in Scotland was beautiful, and I loved the descriptions. I would say this was the romance equivalent of a cozy mystery - sweet, fluffy, and enjoyable. It was a sweet romance, but wasn't a steamy one. I enjoyed it!

I absolutely loved this, I am new to this author and love the highland type novels. The main story focuses on Lexie and Ollie there lives collide when she wins some work to review some old paintings located at a castle in Scotland. This is an excellent time for Lexie newly divorced following her ex husband running off with his PA, Fraud, Bankruptcy etc. which he tries to pin on her and put her business at risk.

Her twin sister is a great support and on arriving on her break away finds she is being followed by Olly, prior to her departure he tried to obtain one of the paintings sent by his sister in error but at this time tries to hide the truth behind this which only complicates the whole situation. Along with Lexie’s sister we meet the housekeeper, Ollys two sisters and one husband who could not be so different. Get set for an excellent journey, it is the perfect romance, extremely funny in places, my only moan is it ends too soon and would love to see more into the developing relationships.

This was really cute! I got approved for it on Netgalley ages ago, but it had been languishing on my kindle.

Lexi, an art gallery owner, has been gypped out of nearly everything by her ne’er-do-well ex-husband. Desperate to save her gallery from foreclosure, she has taken on cataloguing the Wentworth collection at their isolated Scottish Castle.

Meanwhile Oliver Wentworth has just returned home, 11 years after being driven away by his father. Now the new Earl, Olly is trying to mend fences with his sisters, without revealing what led him to leave in the first place.

Lexi and Olly’s relationship does have a lot of the “misunderstandings created by not revealing everything” trope going on — but they both have good reasons for keeping their secrets. And the story itself is funny, not very steamy, and sweet.

This is my first read by this author. I enjoyed the story but it fell a bit flat at times, the setting, characters and plot where there but something was missing for it to be a great book for me. There was thefts, break-ins, lies, trust issues, sibling drama, chemistry, and a bit of romance to keep you reading to the end. I love a Highlands story and this is why I wanted to read this book that I received an arc copy of by NetGalley for my honest review.

I read this book to the end but it was a book that took me a bit longer to complete and grab my complete interest to keep me tapping my kindle. The writing and structure of this book was done well with NO issues of errors or typos. I would love to read more about Tasha who was Lexi Ryan sister and also Olly's sisters. Love learning more about the art world.

Lexie is an art gallery owner who is sent to appraise the valuable works of a nobles Scottish family and gets tied up into their lives. She falls for Ollie, who is the titled noble of the house, while trying to determine the validity of a famous work of art. She is also dodging her ex-husband who financially ruined her.

I had mixed feelings about this book. I felt it had the potential to be similar to Sophie Kinsella or Katie Fforde, who I both love. I think it fell a little flat. I didn’t really feel the passion between Ollie and Lexie and I didn’t feel a connection to the other minor characters. That could just be me—I would still recommend to fans of women’s fiction.

Special thanks to NetGalley for my complimentary copy in return for my honest review.

When Lexi's cheating husband left her and ran off to Spain with his PA she was left heartbroken and in debt as he owed money everywhere. Her only salvation was her little art gallery in Windsor..... and a painting that wasn't a fake! Olly had been running for years but now with both parents gone he has to come and take up his position as the Earl......... but the secret he was running from could destroy his family! Needing to catalogue the castle and put up items for sale he commissions Lexi to go through everything, but will she make discoveries that could jeopardise his secret and his family?

A lovely light read set in the Scottish Highlands, plenty of secrets and intrigue keep you turning the pages as well as the likeable characters

A sweet story set between Windsor and the Scottish Highlands. It was a typical romantic novel, boy meets girl, boy angers girl, girl angers boy, boy and girl make up. But I loved the setting of this story and the background details, such as the art works and auctions. I don’t know much about art but I felt like I’ve come away understanding a little more since reading this book.
I also thought them chemistry between the two main characters was clear and well developed. Overall a nice easy read, recommended for fans of Jenny Colgan and Katie Fforde.

I loved this book. I was hooked from the first page!!
Lexie has a struggling art gallery due to her husband bankrupting them, scamming Lexie and also running off with his PA. Olly returns home to Scotland after leaving home at eighteen with lots of family secrets.

Together they overcome obstacles, feelings and start to trust again. I loved the development of these characters, the way they worked together, also challenging each other. I loved getting to know Lexie's and Olly's familys!
I would highly recommend this book!

I thought that this book had a lot of potential. I liked the whole art forgery/collection appraisal premise, which could have been very intriguing. However, I didn’t get a lot of chemistry between Olly and Lexi. I thought there was too much exposition and not enough real action. And the whole plot arc with Lexi’s ex-husband Marcus got too convoluted. There may be other readers who love it and find lots to like, but I had a hard time getting through it. Thank you to Avon Books UK (via NetGalley) for the opportunity to read a complimentary digital ARC of this book.

I really enjoyed this entertaining romance novel. A lovely setting in the Scottish Highlands - this book made me want to visit the Scottish Highlands. Warm well written characters which developed beautifully as the book progressed - which I enjoyed. A story with obstacles to overcome, relationships, friendships and trust.

A perfect easy read - ideal for the beach, garden or curled up on the sofa on a rainy day.

I love the description of the Scottish Highlands!

Lexi is a kind woman whose life been miserable, since her ex-husband left her with all the debts. I like how positive she is despite of her current situation and her expertise with art is one of a kind.

I find Olly a very attractive man too. Not the typical royalty. He deals his responsibility truly well. He is indeed a modern Earl. I like what he did for Lexi! Absolutely sweet!

I enjoy reading the story. Thank you to Avon and Netgalley for the ARC!

Oh my GOD was this so GOOD. Felt like I was there in real life when reading, like you’re reading but you’re so engrossed into the story that it doesn’t feel like reading anymore.

LOVED Lexi, she’s so amazing and oml OLLY. AHH 😌

Lexi just had my heart since her career is literally what I want to do with my life and reading this has just made me want to go and study Art history even more. The whole art world, romance and cosy feel this book is why I’ve rated this so high. This will definitely be remembered for a LONG time 💅✨

When Lexi’s ex runs off to Spain with his PA, she’s left to clean up the financial mess he leaves behind. She’ll do anything to keep her beloved art gallery afloat, but then a surprise discovery makes things even more complicated.
This was a decent read. The story was good enough that I read it all the way through. The characters each had their own interesting backstory. Overall, it was ok.

Another book I didn't want to put down. When Lexi's cheating ex leaves her to pick up the financial mess he leaves she nearly loses her beloved art gallery and a presious painting. She's picked to put on an art exhibition in Scotland and meets Olly, he has been traveling for the last 11 years and appears to be hiding something but so is Lexi. Funny, romantic and I warmed to the characters instantly. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Is there ever a good reason to lie? Sometimes it's necessary to protect those you love. As with all of Tracy stories family is prominent. The fierce loyalty, love and compassion. A story of a young woman with a love of vintage clothing, art, baking and falling for untrustworthy men a weakness. You can't help but love every character. Beautifully descriptive and such a lovely fun light read.

While I liked most of the characters and found the setting to be lovely, I did find the drama elements of this plot a little too over the top. Even for a romance chick lit style book I thought this was too much sometimes. But it was well written and I was overall glad I read it.

I was sent this book by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
