Dalton Hughes (Fighter) - Hero
Lucie Walters (Journalist) - Heroine
The story had a great start. The heroine is walking to her car in a parking garage when she is attacked by two men. A man comes and saves her. The Lucie recognizes him as the fighter, Dalton Hughes. She drives him home and helps him with his wounds. Then later she reports on the fight that he won and they have sex in his locker. Dalton ignores her after that. The heroine is the one that calls him, texts him, and then when he does not answer him, she confronts him in person (like a groupie). Chasing a man does not make you feisty like Dalton's coach called her. Anyway, after Lucie confronts Dalton, he smiles, give her a wink with a "sorry", and Lucie forgives him. Then Dalton says he wants to start again and takes her out for dinner. After dinner, they go back to her place and yes, they have sex and then YES, he leaves her in the middle of the night with no note, no text, nothing etc. Lucie again does not get the hint, but shows up at Dalton's gym. She only finds him at the gym (loc page 94) because she sees that on his Twitter account that is where he is. Again, he says she is second to his fighting and that he not in the market for a girlfriend. (LOC 73). This entire book until the end was Lucie chasing Dalton. He would apologize and buy flowers, but after sex he would act like the jerk he was. It became sad and pathetic. After while the Lucie should have gotten the hint. When Dalton said he loved her, I did not buy it for one minute. I feel like he was just lonely at that point and wanted to have sex again. Lucie being the desperate heroine, accepted his "love". I hate heroines who chase, and chase, and chase, and chase. She acted like a groupie. Lucie could have initiated the relationship, but after that have the man chase you!!! If I did not say it already, she was pathetic.
I felt this entire relationship was based on sex. How could these two have these strong feelings when they barely spent anytime together without it involving sex.
I loved the premise and it could have been a great story, but the execution and the actions of the characters were just pathetic at times. There was NOTHING swoon worthy about the hero after he rescued the heroine.
You may love this, but it did not work for me.

It need something more, there was very little background, a connection between Lucie and Dalton. He saved her from potential rape and somewhat connected bit then he is a playboy that dates super hot models and Lucie is a plain Jane. She fell, him no, she want wait to see or be with him, him thinks about her but not a lot. As a reporter she covers his fight, not sure what kind of fighter he is but his trainer was a boxer. She shows up and he nails her in the 'dressing room' I thought that would be a lockerroom. But now after the hot scene, she calls a lot but he don't pick up nor calls nor texts back. With Dalton hot and cold ways Lucie is in rollercoaster of torment.

This is the first book I have read from this author. I admit the cover caught my attention and made me want to see if the story could grab my attention.
It had a lot of promise. Dalton saves Lucie from almost getting raped. As soon as she recognizes him she rushes him to her home so that she can tend to the wound he received. Lucie has fallen for him instantly and will do anything to make sure their paths cross again.
She shows up at his next fight and they end up having sex but then she doesn't hear from him for days. Instead of moving on she hunts him down and confronts him. He doesn't hesitate to let her know he has no time for her that his fighting career is his priority. Dalton can't get Lucie out of his mind but he has to put his career first.
Its a hook up and run repeat again. Lucie is to desperate. Dalton can't stand up for what he wants until its almost to late.
Meet one day, sex the next day, ignored the next 4 days, hook up again, disappears on her and they are instantly in love.

Just not sure
I had troubles finishing this book. There was something that made it feel like it was written by a minor or a newbie to writing?! Can’t pinpoint what it was, but I had problems getting into this story! Sorry author.
