Lee has barely established his foothold in the kingdom of Birnefeld, and yet enemy forces are already rushing to attack. Almost all of the other Heralds have been stamped out of existence by the anti-religious zealot King Ramen, and now that the ruthless rule of the empire has turned his sights toward the newly conquered realm, and started marching a massive army easily capable of crushing the entire kingdom beneath their feet straight toward Lee's doorstep. With no other choice, Lee has to turn to the nemesis who plagued his dreams, the Mistress of Shadows, for help. Now, with everything on the line, Lee has to race against the clock to gather the last remaining world stones and finally finish the gods’ cruel game and close out the final chapter of War Aeternus before King Ramen puts an end to the faithful.
This Gamelit Litrpg fantasy novel was written by Charles Dean, author of the Bathrobe Knight series, the Merchant of Tiqpa series and the Heroic Villain series as well.
As sad as I was when it comes to Gridgid, I was so very happy with everything else. I only wish that Lee was a woman who ends up with a happy life full of children and grandchildren with the loves of her life ni Jade, Ling and Masha.
disappointed. it was my least favorite book of the series. the whole second half of the book seemed rushed and made little sense to me. he's trapped in a dream world forever, falls in love with ophelia out of nowhere, final boss was underwhelming. no explanation of whatever the clockmaker is. just seems super unfinished and a unsatisfying ending.

Last book in the series had me feeling completely betrayed.
The ending was horrible. It was cheap. It felt like a complete cop-out. I feel that I have wasted so much time on this series to be left feeling used up by the author. To anyone reading this, so not waste your time on this series! Worst part is all the other books, I have five star ratings. Had I known how it would end, I never would have started reading them.
Lee stays true to his character. Too many authors cause the main character to step out of character. The two loves that he realized was well within his personality (sorry if that is any spoiler but I believe I am vague enough) the one was never really named but I feel that there was an allusion to who she was.
The use of twists and turns kept me guessing.
I don't like the feeling that I really missed someone in this story, (The whole series), there is something that I must have missed somewhere. Like whole the Clockmaker really was (I have my guess). I liked the Epilogue, although I believe that more of it should have been just continuing of the story and that the true Epilogue should have been much shorter. I was a little disappointed about not seeing the new home that was gifted.
So, Lee's death was interesting.
....
Now, the author really did a nice job of keeping a story moving while hitting deep into belief and disbelief. There was much more thought put into this story than I was expecting. It moves and dances like a cheap Anime but kicks your head in like a cerebral Anime.
Good book, questions wrapped up possible spoilers to follow
I enjoyed what i read and im interested to see if there are any spin offs to follow. Already some reference to lee in other books. The thing that i didnt quite appreciate was how the book seemed rushed. I thought there wouldve been another couple books but this one had some things that seemed to push it between plots quickly. That coupled with a big ol jump in power to grand master but not having any real recognition or bonus abilities gained just bothered me. Im hoping this just means that the author is focusing on other novels
This was a great journey from book 1-5 but this book was the best. I hate cliff hangers so I was very happy with how complete the ending was. Any book that can get me emotionally involved is a step above the rest. This is a great series that I will reread that's how much I liked it. Very well done also it's not the kind of book where the mc can't make any mistake or never gets damaged. So it really sucks you in and makes you wonder how it all ends and keeps you flipping pages late into the night.
Not a happy or bittersweet ending. Just straight up sad. MC entire purpose for expanding and making a kingdom goes in the toilet. It’s basically just becomes tuck everlasting but worse. All the climactic build up for literally nothing. All the plot woven throughout the series just feels wasted. What if his dad? What of the other gods? Are they punished? Who is the Clockmaker and can he be stopped? Too little is said and it’s disappointing
5 stars. Would have been perfect except for a couple of immersion breaking grammatical errors, or spelling mistakes. They pulled me out of the world at times that I was really getting into. So my only suggestion is have a couple of people proof read, and it would have been perfect. Thanks for the hard work!
An exciting end to a fantastic series where the morose, yet determined Lee pushes forward to end the game once and for all. It'll keep you interested until the end.
The only downside is about midway through it becomes apparent that the author is wrapping things up a bit too quickly, though fortunately not so quickly as to detract from the story.
There’s a great place in Clemson SC called “Ramen and Sushi Burrito”.
The tonkotsu spicy fried shrimp ramen is the best Ive ever had. Ramen noodles. Pork base, chicken base a bowl of fried shrimp, seasoned egg, bamboo shoots, ear wood mushrooms (what ever those are), pickled red ginger and garlic oil.
This is one of those book series that just hit the right notes. I was never disappointed. And the ending was perfection. With many series you end wanting more. More of everything. But this one ended with a swnse of completeness. I would recommend it to anyone who has the least interest in fantasy novels.
Simply put, if you enjoy LitRPGs this series is REALLY FUN!!! (Also, it is complete so if you are like me and want a series that is not going to leave you stuck waiting for the next book… you can relax and enjoy these wonderful FIVE books!)
Well Charles Grant Lee here saying thank you for letting me visit your world. It's 3:52 in the morning here in Portland Oregon and now I need to go get bacon. Seriously I just want a giant fracking plate of bacon. That is all
Idk how I will deal with the fact that my favorite murder hobos story is at an end I vote that we the fandom, misery Charles until he starts working on war aeternus 6. It's supposed to be an eternal war there shouldnt be an end.
Iv been here since the start from book one. The progression from book 1 all the way to book 5 was great and even though i hoped we would have gotten another book it still was very satisfying. Can't wait to see what the next book from the author is going to be.
Took 4 books and crammed into 1 without the actual progress or thought of previous books. Callous wrap ups and pitiful rushing. Thank you for making me not want to read another series.
It's full of ups and downs. Twists and turns. The series does not disappoint. This book ties everything up nicely and doesn't leave loose ends. Congrats Charles on a most excellent series.
It's a bittersweet feeling when one of your favorite series comes to an end but still this was wonderfully written with with surprises and twists around every corner. Truely a great series
It is bittersweet to see the end of this series. I would have loved to have more of it but it is refreshing to see a series actually end. One of the faults of the genre is that it leads to endless series. This book was backed with action but still allowed enough room for resolution and the end.
Not bad at all. Just felt like it had alot of things rushed and kinda pointless. The last bit of it could have happened almost at anytime and there wasn't really alot of gaming to this book just alot of grey...heroism?
The first part of the book is meandering and the rest is super rushed that I can't understand how this can be a part of the series I enjoyed so far. That's the only reason I gave it 2 stars, otherwise I'd give it 1 star due to the travesty of how the book ended.
I really enjoyed all 5 books in this series, they were all very interesting and funny. Great characters and adventures, I loved Lee and Augustus, both beautifully done. The ending had me sitting there and really thinking about life. Thank you Charles Dean.
After such a great journey the conclusion just felt a bit rushed. I understand there may be writer’s fatigue and an itch to start a new project, but I would have loved 3-4 more books in the series before reaching the end (which was epic).
