When Fifi Gallagher returns to McKenzie Ridge to settle her grandmother’s estate, she finds herself toe-to-toe with...a buffalo.
A toothless opossum. An emotional llama. And...a handsome silver fox.
Fifi’s inherited more than just property — and apparently the jackass who lives there — and we aren’t talking about the hammock loving donkey.
Right on the heels of sparklers and the Star Spangled Banner, Fifi’s knee deep in twinkle lights and Jingle Bells when she takes her grandmother’s place as head of the town Christmas Festival...in smoking hot July.
Doctor Jensen Bain — aka silver fox — finds himself standing toe-to-toe with the infamous Fiona “Fifi” Gallagher straight out of Hollywood - threatening eviction. Accidentally sleeping with her certainly wasn’t part of the plan or worth declaring a Christmas in July miracle, despite the fireworks — due to the stick up her pompous…*BEEP*
From big city girl to small town animal whisperer, Fifi’s heart is suddenly torn between Hollywood and Holly-weird. When mysterious letters from a secret admirer, known only as Santa, make her question if she’s meant for the spotlight and couture or wildlife and red checkered flannel.

Loved this delightful story. Fifi and Doc Bain's story was hilarious, heart-warming and sizzling hot with chemistry. Loved their misadventures and all off the animals that were part of the impressive storyline.
Such a totally sweet and enjoyable story! It is a bit nostalgic returning to McKenzie Ridge and having the quirky Granny Lou play a large part in this new story, but this town wouldn’t be the same without her!
I enjoyed Fiona’s stuffy demeanor when she first gets to town. She appears quite snobbish, but her surroundings and the local critters soon knock her attitude down several notches! I love the menagerie! Each one has a special circumstance as to who/why they are there and it’s incredible how Doc Bain rescues them and makes this place their forever home. I also love the honest “love” Missy gives Fiona when she least expects it.
This story is full of heartwarming moments, thoughtful people, nestled in a town determined to keep their Christmas spirit alive – even in July! It’s also about fond memories of childhood experiences and dreams along the way and about a woman who was the heart and soul of this little mountain town. It’s also about learning your passion and taking that passion to the next level even if that level is far outside your comfort zone, taking chances. Doc Bain is just what Fiona needs to encourage and support her while helping her realize her passion.
This is a true love story. It’s sweet, caring and HOT with Santa making wishes come true! I loved it!
St. Klaire never fails to impress me with her stories no matter what type of book she writes. She has an uncanny knack for knowing exactly what will get your funny bone or work it's way into your heart. Her characters are someone you'd love to know in your own life and her plots are always different and fast paced. Christmas in July was hilarious from the first page (oh my gosh, the car scene!) and kept me flipping pages to see what misadventure was going to befall Fifi next. Bain was a sexy hero, but his love for animals (especially those with issues) is what endeared him to me the most. However, the sexy didn't hurt any! His "saving" Fifi from the different animals was adorable and swoon worthy. Fifi was a very interesting character, from her choice of pet to her handling of the people on the Christmas committee. She really did have a tendency to get herself in awkward situations with the different animals that Bain had. I really couldn't tell you which encounter struck me as the funniest. Ms. St. Klaire, thank you for the laughs on what was a difficult weekend! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Not my cup of tea, but fans of Hallmark movies will love it. I’ve heard about Stephanie St. Klaire’s McKenzie Ridge series and was ready for my introduction in this novella. Most of the characters were very quirky and Fifi needing to help plan the town’s Christmas in July celebration was an interesting twist to keep the big city girl in the small town long enough to fall in love.
Christmas In July by Stephie Klaire is the PERFECT book for holiday lovers to read during summer!! . . Fifi goes back from LA to McKenzie Ridge to settle her grandmother's estate. What she expects was to go through some things, clear out the house, and put it up for sale. What she didn't expect was constant knocking at her door from townspeople and certainly not a veterinarian living in the backyard! Oh, he also pretty much made the property a sanctuary for animals, so now there's that to deal with! . . Dee, Fifi's grandmother, was also the chairwoman for their big Christmas In July event (which started when a fire derailed Christmas in December one year). Side note: I loved what they did for this celebration and why they had it, it's super cute. Now the townspeople convince her to take over the planning and she does! Can this city girl become a small town one once more? . . She may or may not also become an animal whisperer...this 5 star novella was just absolutely so cozy & perfect! This is a must for anyone who is a fan of Hallmark movies!
I love the characters in this series, sweet, meddling, rough or grouchy each and everyone of them is special. Add in the eclectic mix of creatures in this and what's not love, on top of that we get all the romance of Christmas. Of course I figured out the couple long before they did but I really enjoyed the journey to them figuring it out. A truelly sweet and romantic read.
Bain is a small-town vet who takes care of most of the animals in McKenzie Ridge. Fifi/Fiona is a Hollywood set designer, who spent several summers at her grandmother’s home in McKinzie Ridge when she was growing up. Some of her best memories were made in McKenzie Ridge. Bain has taken FiFi’s grandmother’s barn, and turned it into the perfect location for his veterinary practice. It has large enough rooms to accommodate a variety of animals, and he has set it up so that he can stay there for extended periods of time when needed with the animals.
With Fifi first arrives, her mission is to clean out the house and sell it. She doesn’t realize that Bain has his entire practice located in the barn. As she spends time in the town, and gets to know the residents, she starts to remember a lot of the important things in life that she’s been missing. Her life in Hollywood has some good things going for it, but it’s missing a lot of the human connections that give life meaning. Fifi discovers that she’s been living for work rather than working to live. By slowing down in McKenzie Ridge, so finds her passion again and finally finishes a manuscript that she’s been working on for quite a while. She discovers quirky friends and neighbors, many who remember her visits as a child. There’s a sense of community in McKenzie Ridge that just doesn’t exist in Hollywood.
This is a quick read, but a delightful one. There are some laugh-out-loud moments mixed together with some thought-provoking ideas about the ‘real’ versus the ‘for show’ life. The animals become both the co-stars in this novella and one of the mechanisms used to show Fifi what really matters. This is a delightful story that will bring a smile to your face and to your heart.

July has always held a special place in my heart. It isn't about the heat. It is about Christmas. For months I stalk the Hallmark Ornament book. I drool over the Christmas movie line up. Stores start stalking crafts and decorations in hopes of sucking up into Christmas Fever. I am at their door, screaming, "Open, Open, Open!" After today that all takes a step back behind Christmas in July, a book, not an idea.
Christmas in July is everything wonderful about Christmas wrapped up in a wonderful, hilarious book. It is a story remembering a dear grandmother, recently passed away leaving Fifi to rediscover home. It is a story of taking care of those less fortunate as Doc Bain takes in stray animals and loving them. It is a celebration of survival after all that has happened in the small town of McKenzie Ridge. It is a story of cooperation as committees work together to bring the Christmas in July Festival to the citizens of McKenzie Ridge.
Christmas in July gives the reader the best gift of all--laughter. I snickered. I howled. I roared. I snorted. So many great and unique situations.
Christmas in July keeps on giving. The reader watches (reads) as romance grows between a little lost girl and Doc Bain, a man that fell for a girl through the stories of a grandmother. I swooned over a modern Dr. Doolittle that happily helped animasl in need, caring for those that would not survive without him.
My heart melted within the pages of this sweet holiday read. I can't wait to open more gifts as the author adds to this series.
Fans have been dying for more from Mackenzie Ridge and this novella certainly delivered. I adored this novella about a woman who has to decide what to do with her grandmother's property in Mackenzie Ridge. Come to find out she has to carry on her grandmother Dee's legacy of being the town Christmas festival chairperson. Her short stay to put the house on the market just got longer. Fifi works on Hollywood films so she can handle yet about anything. Her first encounter at her gram's house might just be something she can't though. Who expects a curious bison? Doc Bain has been renting space from Dee for a few years. He's "collected" a strangle group of animals that all have a personality quirk that can be adorable. When Fifi says she's going to sell, he doesn't know what will happen to his practice or his animals. The banter between them is some of the funniest I've read from Ms St Klaire. Their energy bounces off the page. I adored the change that happened in Fifi. Her dream job was not to work on the film's but something else that she gets back to while she's in Mackenzie. Her priorities change with each animal that crosses her path. And the Santa letters? I knew there had to be some mystery on the edges of this story. But this was a fun mystery to solve. Perfect ending!
Leaving Hollywood and her career to settle her grandmother’s McKenzie Ridge estate, Fiona ‘Fifi’ Gallagher is presented with a myriad of issues. Her teen self remembers the love she had for the town and the townspeople. Her adult self just wants to get the house and surrounding property ready to sell. Her emotional self finds tossing out her grandmother’s effects is not as easy as she thought it would be. Her practical self just wants to get it done! Add in a H.O.T. veterinarian who lives on the property and takes in animals that would have no chance of surviving in the wild with their health issues and wacky personalities, and you’ve got a dilemma to say the least!
Fiona and Doc Bain dance around, and act on, their attraction to each other, and their relationship comes to a head when anonymous Santa letters begin to arrive for Fiona as the town is getting ready for their annual, Christmas in July celebration. Fiona must decide. Stay or go?
A charming story! It was wonderful to see some of the characters we’ve grown to know and love in McKenzie Ridge, show up in this novella. Doc Bain has been a favorite through the whole McKenzie Ridge series, and I was so hoping he’d find someone who could love him, his quirky animal friends, and his dedication to his profession. Fiona is perfect for him.
Fifi Gallagher returns to McKenzie Ridge to settle her grandmother’s estate, she finds herself toe-to-toe with...a buffalo, and a variety of wild animals. It seems her grandmother was allowing the town Vet to live, and board and keep animals on her property. Fifi doesn't know what to do with this range of animals.
The handsome, Doctor Jensen Bain — aka silver fox — finds himself standing toe-to-toe with the infamous Fiona “Fifi” Gallagher straight out of Hollywood - threatening eviction. Doc use to live in LA once upon a time. Then he decided to move to the country to actual live life, not just live for the paycheck.
Fifi is thrown into the town's affairs of running the Christmas in July parade, and the towns committee, both of which her grandmother ran.
Fifi has written her book project while she has been back in her grandmother's house. She is torn with deciding if she should leave or stay.
Doc is torn with his love of the country and his interest in Fifi. Would he be able to leave his animals and go back to LA to be in a relationship with her? Or, would going back to that rushed lifestyle ruin their blossoming relationship? Will Fifi even give them a chance at a relationship?
I did receive an ARC review copy of this book from the author. I am freely leaving an honest review.
What do you get when you mix a mountain country vet with a somewhat stuck-up Hollywood set designer, add in a menagerie of animals, including some llama drama, an injured Jane Doe and a lethargic sloth, and top it off with a Secret Santa admirer? Why you get the perfect Christmas love story – in July! Fifi and Bain strike sparks off each other from the very beginning, but not in a good way. Their back and forth dialogue is loaded with snark and sass and is delightful and extremely funny. In fact, Fifi’s interactions with most of McKenzie Ridge will have you at least chuckling, and, of course, there’s always Granny Lou. It wouldn’t be McKenzie Ridge without her. You just can never go wrong when you have Lou Shaw around, or can you?
The characters are charming, the repartee is delightful, the animals are adorable, the chemistry’s hot, and the love, well, it’s just plain crazy. This will have you laughing from beginning to end. It’s an easy, quick read that’s highly entertaining and hard to put down. It’s so nice to be back in McKenzie Ridge. But even if you’ve never been there before, you’re sure to have a great time! I strongly urge you to take a chance on a visit. Once you’ve been there, you’ll never want to leave!!
This sweet novella is a return to the Small town of McKenzie Ridge and its fun charismatic characters. Grandma Dee has died suddenly while her only granddaughter Fiona(FiFi) is out of the country. Fifi returns to McKenzie Ridge with plans to sort out her beloved Gram's home and sell it and return to Hollywood and her design job there. Being "home" reminds her of her hopes and dreams when she was young and Gram's town was a place to escape to and live out her idyllic life. All of Gram's crazy and kooky friends are there, as well as Gram's extremely likeable Veteranarian and his rag tag brood of rescues that call Gram's farm their home. As FiFi is roped into replacing Gram in the town's fourth of july festival and Christmas festival that is now being held in July due to a fire last year, she realizes how much hometowns mean to the occupants, how much Gram did and meant, and how much she now is ingrained in this town and into the heart of her Secret Santa letter writer. Her thoughts begin to change and think that perhaps she can stay in McKenzie Ridge and have the life that she always wanted as well as the life she has now. This is a really feel good novella and a great look back. I can't wait to visit this town in more novels yet to come.
I can never resist another visit to one of my favorite towns, McKenzie Ridge, Author Stephanie St. Klaire’s fictitious town! This spinoff novella features Fifi (Fiona) Gallagher and veterinarian Doctor Jensen Bain, (who Fifi’s grandmother never told her about), as well as a gaggle of unique animals. From the very beginning the two butt heads, especially once she says she is selling Grandma Dee’s house…where Doc’s recovery barn is housed.
“You left L.A. for this? How? Why? I just don’t get it.” “Because here I’m actually living, Fiona. In California, I was just working, trying to make the next buck, and I didn’t even know what I was working for. Here…I do.”
This is a fun, hilarious, enjoyable read! The animals and their personalities make Christmas in July a totally different lineup of characters. Grandma Dee’s best friend, Lou, had me cracking up! Fifi’s dilemma of trying to step into her grandmother’s shoes and create Christmas in July, a secret Santa admirer, as well as Fifi’s “Hollyweird” personality and pet sloth (Dallas), all mesh together to create this humorous McKenzie Ridge addition!
Fifi (Fiona) Gallagher has come back to McKenzie Ridge to go through her grandmother's things and put her house on the market.
She's very surprised when she arrives to find that the very handsome veterinarian Dr Jensen Bain is living on the property and has his practice set up there. Also living there are several animals including a buffalo, opossum, turkey and her old childhood cat, Missy. Fifi's introduction to each of these animals is absolutely hilarious.
The best character is Lou Shaw she just tells it is and she pulls Fifi in into taking her Grandmother's place to be in charge of the Christmas in July event.
The banter Fifi and Bain have is so funny. He can dish it right back at her. My favorite line he said to her was his response when she said his truck smelled like manure "Manure? Darlin'. I think that's your attitude you're smelling."
The longer Fifi stays the more she re-falls in love with McKenzie Ridge Ridge and then Santa starts leaving love notes for her. Suddenly returning to L.A. doesn't seem to be where she wants to be.
When your birthday falls on July 25th & you love all things Christmas, there's no better book to curl up with than Christmas in July by Stephanie St. Klaire. I'm a sucker for a good romance, but I have to admit, I fell in love with the animals in this story long before I committed myself to Doc Bain & Fifi! If you've ever had an animal bring you a "gift" then you know both the deep sense of loyalty of an animal & the disgust of the human having to do something with said "gift"! But seriously, I've yet to read a book with such a menagerie of animals that made me truly laugh out loud & want to cuddle with a buffalo! And Granny Lou is forever the wise-cracking, shoot from the hip wild woman we have all come to know & love from reading the beloved McKenzie Ridge series. Enter a couple of new & feisty characters like Jensen Bain & Fiona Gallagher (aka Hollywood) who throw barbs as much as heat at each other & you've got a surefire win! Stephanie packs a lot of laughs & some great relationship depth into a quick little read!
I love Stephanie St. Klaire's McKenzie Ridge Series, and this additional novella was quite the treat. I love the characters, the world Stephanie built and best of all the way the town rallied together to celebrate Christmas in July - when tragedy struck.
From the very start, Stephanie hooked me into this novella. When Fifi came home to take care of her grandmother's estate, the last thing she needed was complications - Or a Sexy - doctor who happens to be paid in chickens and casseroles - interfering with her plan. She'd left McKenzie Ridge to build her life in LA and all she wanted to do was get out of there as quick as possible.
But the town has other plans for Fifi. They need her to come home and take the place of her beloved grandmother to keep things straight.
I love Stephanies humor in her books. She creates memorable characters, combustible chemistry and a world I never wanted to leave. I can't wait for more from McKenzie Ridge.
Hallmark Christmas worthy story hands down! I'm not sure how Stephanie makes each book she writes better than the last one, she's definitely a truly talented author and woman! You will absolutely love Christmas in July!! Fiona "Fifi" inherits her grandmother's house and property and drives to the house she spent countless summer's in growing up fully intent on selling it all as fast as she can so she can return back to her life in LA. Once she arrives the laughter starts, before she even completely gets out of her car. While being held hostage by a four-legged troublemaker she meets Dr. Jensen Bain who lives and has his practice on the property where he keeps multiple patients of his who are unable for one reason or another to return back to their normal animal lives. Fifi ends up with countless visitors within the first morning she arrives, some of them being people she remembers from childhood.
From the moment I started reading, the words cheese and rice had me laughing out loud! Fiona aka fifi has come home to her grams place, to sort the place out for selling. As she realises she isn't alone on the property from the buffola, the turkey and the donkey that loves to swing it's a whirlwind.its like she has stepped into a Zoo for the unwanted animals run by the towns very own silver fox Dr Bain! Fiona also brings along her own pet! A SLOTH! Funniest picture ever created a sloth in jumpers and tutu! These two dance around each other and the friendship grows as they have to plan the towns Christmas July! That is until notes start appearing. Figuring this out is very funny! What a read and if this is the frist of your visits to McKenzie Ridge you need to head back and catch up,l. Congrats SSK a fantastic read cant wait for more!!!

It was so much fun to head back to Makenzie Ridge and visit some old favorite characters as well as meeting a new one. Fifi returns to town to settle her grandmother's estate and she is met with the menagerie that lives there with the local vet, Doc Bain. They rile each other up but could that animosity be covering the chemistry and attraction between them?
Fun ensues as Fifi takes over organizing the Christmas (in July) festival. Spitting llamas, pregnant cats, a sick toothless sloth, a donkey that naps in a hammock all make for a fun time. And when Fifi discovers she has a secret admirer sending her letters from Santa, she must decide if she is going to return to LA or take a chance on love and staying in Mackenzie Ridge.
This cast of characters is so much fun and I was thoroughly entertained. I can't wait to read more stories with these people.
This book has classic St Klaire humor and heart. I started laughing as soon as Fifi aka Fiona started with the cheese and rice comment, and that’s even before the buffalo starts breathing on her neck and nudging her behind. When she ever starts talking to Dallas and says mommy won’t let it hurt you and I realize she’s talking to her pet sloth to her first encounter with Doc Bain all I did was chuckle. Doc Bain is easy going and taking care of an interesting menagerie of “challenged” animals and Fifi seems to have a stick up her butt making her stiff and all Hollywood but she really has a soft center and needs to find it again.Opposites attract is certainly what this is. I love Mackenzie Ridge and was thrilled to revisit the characters.Never can go wrong with a Stephanie St Klaire read, always full of heart and chuckles.
How sweet it is to return to McKenzie Ridge and I LOVED that Granny Lou was at the helm of all the craziness lol. From the first page until last, I found myself laughing out loud and falling in love with Fifi and Doc Bain. These two start off like oil and vinegar, or more accurately, a match to gasoline. They are always explosive when around each other and their banter can only be described as foreplay.
Christmas in July is a heartwarming read that brings on the nostalgia as Fifi is reminded why she fell in love with McKenzie Ridge as a child. To see her snobbiness slowly fade away and her love for the town and all the crazy animals grow was a glorious thing. Another job well done SSK on another fabulous story. Now, excuse me while I google where to buy a sloth! LOL
First off, I LOVE being in McKenzie Ridge! These people are some of my favorites, not to mention there is never a dull moment. When Fifi arrives, she is definitely NOT used to small town living, and appears almost snobbish at the beginning. I felt like this was totally how someone would act coming from the "big city," though. After a while, and some interesting encounters, she begins to realize this may not be all that she thought it would be. Meeting a vet from a small town, Fifi has no idea what she's in for!
This story has all the small town feeling I love, some true Christmas spirit (even in July), loads of animals, hilarity, and all the feelings I love in a romance. Not only that, we get an appearance by Granny Lou! This book has chemistry, love, laughter, and is entertaining all the way through.
This was a fun quick read. It was great to go back to Mackenzie Ridge and read more about the people there. They are quite the quirky group! Loved Lou, she is quite the hoot and knows everything going on in town. It was great for Doc Bain to find his match. Fiona or Fifi wasn’t necessarily happy to be back in Mackenzie Ridge but she started to fall in love with all the crazy, odd animals that town seemed to have. It helped that those animals were cared for by Doc Bain and were located on the farm she inherited from her grandmother. I loved the Christmas in July party that the town threw and how Fiona was bake to put a summer twist on it. This was a great romance and I look forward to more Mackenzie Ridge stories.
A fun, laugh out loud visit back to McKenzie Ridge. Fifi is there to settle her grandmothers' estate when the townspeople have her planning the Christmas in July celebration. This book has it all stuffed into a novella. You've got your Buffalo, a donkey that likes to nap in the hammock, a possum with no teeth that's bffs with a handicapped turkey and a crazy llama. Add in a handsome doctor, a secret admirer, and lots of food and you'll have a great time in McKenzie Ridge. A lighter side to the town. Stephanie always grabs me in the first paragraph and this was no different, couldn't put it down and read it in one sitting. I highly recommend it. If you've read her McKenzie Ridge romantic thriller series this is a totally different look at the town.
Wow, what can I say about this little gem..... it's a laugh out loud rom-com of epic proportions. While a quick read it's so much more than it seems. So let me give you a few hints:
Fifi from Holly-weird Silver Fox - Bain the mountain man Grammy Dee is dead but still manages to run everything An overly friendly buffalo A transvestite depressed sloth Mama llama drama Hammock hogging wonkey donkey Literally a secret santa
All held together with snarky jabs and barn all-nighters. This is in the top five funniest books I've ever read, it had me laughing to myself so much my cat started giving me dirty looks - I know so unlike a cat!!!
So when in need of a quick pick me up jump online and download
Christmas in July was the perfect summer read. It combined all the things I love from Stephanie St Klaire. Humor, romance, McKenzie Ridge, a little mystery, and a super steamy session.
Fiona and Doc Bain had a connection that was so obvious to others, but not Fiona. I adored seeing Doc Bain in more of a leading role. Seeing how he worked with the animals was so enjoyable.
Mystery love notes from "Santa" left Fiona torn between her hurried life in LA or a relaxed life in McKenzie.
Definitely recommend to all lovers of the people of McKenzie Ridge. Even new readers will be able to enjoy this quick, cute read.
