I really enjoyed this story between Kabier and Keya. It was a unique and exciting. They additional characters are great, and I didn’t want to put it down. I hope this book has a series so I can see how the others end up.

The writing style is well and quite smooth. It's a sweet romantic love story, without any unnecessary characters or side plotlines. Gives you a great insight into the lifestyles of business tycoons and also on Grand Indian Weddings...I especially like the relations that the main characters share with their friends, siblings, cousins, and family members. For example, the female lead, Keya shares a very deep friendship with Raashi and Sheena, her childhood friends, and then a sweet kind of friendship with Rithwik and Aditya (about which you will get to know). Similarly, Kabier (male lead) has the same with his cousins Rishi and Sameer. Moving on, the storyline was nice; once you get to know all the history and backdrops of the characters, all that they would do makes sense. The story also takes you back to college days like in the scenes of disco, truth-dare games, etc.
What I seriously dislike about the story is: First, the immaturity of the protagonists. Like, they are business heirs and owners, and they literally have no control over their emotions. One second they are arguing and angry with each other, and the next moment they are kissing each other wildly desperately, that too when they are practically meeting for the second time in their life (first time being in the office).
Second, the lack of consent and lack of respect for the boundaries of their partner. Now, actually, it is Kabier who almost always is the one to not wait for consent by Keya, and even continue when she is obviously trying to break free/resisting; but I also am disappointed by the way Keya just lets him be. She neither confronts him to tell him that it is not right, she just finally...melts down and gives in. (the way the author puts it).
Let me explain by giving three instances from the book.
Basically, the problem is not with the story but with the characters. Otherwise:
Overall, the story is just fine. Relatable characters. Heart-to-Heart conversations. Funny banters. And definitely plot twists to keep you reading. Might recommend the book for one-time reading.

Keya and Kabier start off with a less than stellar impression of one another. While Kabier is sure that she is the mystery woman selling company secrets, Keya is more than a little bewildered at the hostile and high-handed behaviour of her new boss. Her confusion and Kabier’s displeasure reaches its peak when the two find themselves caught in an explosive (and partly unwanted) chemistry. The episode ends in a terrible fall out. Will Kabier be able to make amends once he realises the truth? And will she be able to trust a man who hadn’t previously believed her? All I can say is Take a Chance on Me!
I felt that the book has a distinct western feel to it in spite of several scenes involving an Indian wedding. I’m really impressed with the writing style which is smooth, fluent and without the usual hesitations I’ve witnessed in too many debut writers. The dialogues are engaging, at times witty and at times funny.
The story is fast paced and manages to be interesting without engaging in prolonged dramatic scenarios like many romances are wont to do. Most misgivings and doubts seemed to mesh well with the plot. I liked the fact that Keya doesn’t instantly forgive Kabier and he has to work hard to break through her reservations. Although some of the scenes especially during the wedding of Kabier’s sister felt a bit filmy, there is still a lot more to this story. From office intrigues to nosey but well-intentioned relatives and friends.
Keya is a simple enough girl but with a keen devotion to her work. She has an incredible support group in the form of her friends and finds a strong champion in none other than Kabier’s own grandfather. Kabier is initially arrogant and overbearing towards Keya, but makes up for it by becoming genuinely caring and supportive of her. That guy can be seriously charming when he wants to be!
It also introduces a whole lot of characters along with the main duo. And the author manages to carve out a definite space for each of those characters which I very much adored. The spunky Sehgal siblings definitely deserve more attention. I look forward to seeing them in the upcoming books which I have high hopes for. You could feel the chemistry growing between Sameer and Raashi (whom I liked even more than Keya if possible) right from this book. Here’s hoping I get an ARC for the next book as well (hint, hint).

WOAH! Bottling up the mixed feelings I have felt in this bookk!! There is NO (not at ALL) deep connection I could feel with the characters 🤭😣 The plot is limited to surface level, and half way in, I just realise its not even LOVE but more LUST, no real deep convo between them!
Can you believe this made me feel absolute in awe and disgust at the SAME time?!?! That's crazy!!
But to be honest, I would say this is just another cliché senseless Wattpad novel (and suprisingly I used to admire them at some point), but I did not enjoy it. The whole plot line was predictable, and I don't blame the author, indeed, I had expected it to be a cliché story but when the plot is cliché, one thing an author does is to add more depth into the characters, you know the main point is EVOKE reader's EMOTIONS! Kabier, is a wreck of a hero, absolute senseless and I am not saying a hero should be perfect but the least is sensible, instead I appreciated the role of Janak, very sincere and upfront character. About Keya, see the author makes her seem pathetic (and I don't deny that she is indeed), but it hikes up the levels of misogyny, I love to see characters vulnerable and being comforted by others, but this was a bit too much in those terms. And my god, the main point that was very OFF-PUTTING, Keya and Kabier felt more in LUST than LOVE, like maybe there was no depth in the way Sapna Bhog expressed their feelings and perspectives. (Using a third person perspective only added a wall between the characters and the reader, like I wanna get to know them better and feel the emotionsss 🥺)
I am surprised this book got an average of over 4 ⭐️, don't hate me I love such cliché billionaire romance novels, but the fact it was so long (took me 3 days of continued reading to get it finished) and it WAS NOT WORTH IT worst of all, no depth, no real emotions evoked, too predictable...
So will I read the other books in the Sehgal Series? I have mixed opinions about that, cuz I found some side characters (btw you could already predict the whole series is just another version of this story with different names) like Rishi and Veejay. But that's when I really have nothing to read, I might just for a time pass read😂

A sweet and steamy romantic drama.

Kabier Sehgal is all set to take over the Sehgal Entreprises business from his grandfather. Right before the handover, he finds out something disturbing about a traitor amidst the top management. His doubts are strong about Keya, who has easy access to all the information and is also extremely close to his grandfather. He is determined to expose her, but there is one problem though. Kabier is falling head-over-heels for her and has started to doubt whether she is really the guilty party here.
What I liked about the book:
-> It is a simple, fast-paced read, written in an engaging manner.
-> The friendship between the three girls, Keya, Sheena, and Rashee.
-> It points towards how childhood experiences shape up one's personality.
-> The chemistry between Kabier and Keya is amazingly depicted.
-> Janak's dynamic with the three girls aka 'Janak's Angels' and the sweet, trusting bond between the Sehgal siblings and cousins.
-> The descriptions of the character's outfits and the places, paint a vivid picture.
What I did not like about the book:
-> The thoughts and opinions around women felt a little patriarchal and anti-feminist.
-> The big reveal about who was the culprit wasn't really that of a shocker.

-> You cannot forever live in the fear that what happened in the past will happen with you again someday. You have to give love a chance and learn to trust again.

Take a chance on me is my second read by Sapna Bhog. I read this book after reading another book of this series. This book just made me fall stronger for this series. I have fun reading this book and the many moments that I live with them.
Keya is mature and top in her career, ignoring everyone who thinks ill about her. Knowing Keya is like peeling layers of the onion. She is a hell lot of a girl that I like about her. The relationship she shares with Janak is just fantastic. She is an anchor of her best friends.
Kabier is quiet, reserved, and open only for his brothers. Keya and Kabier's romance is loaded with passion. Kabier shares well-connected relationships with his brothers and cousins.
The book has many characters, and the author wrote perfectly with less presence yet strong effects. Janak's Angel is a show-stealer. Keya's bond with her best friends craves me to have that type of friendship. After reading them, I am more eager to read their books.
The authors wrote the mentality of society for a working woman and orphans impressively. The culprit is easy to place, but the story behind the fraud hooked me inside the book.
The book is full of entertainment, Indian wedding fun, drama, and office romance spice with friendship, jealousy, love, thrill, and family, everything I want to read in Indian romance books. You are surely going to enjoy this book if you like to read Indian romance books.

I loved the story, it is simple, fast paced and written in a language that just flows smoothly. The dialogues have been written in a way that I felt I could hear the caracters conversing. I hardly felt that the book is the debut work of the author.
The characters are well developed and realistic and even the secondary characters have a role to play in the story. The bond between the three girls and even that between the Sehgal brothers has been beautifully depicted. The scenes have been described in a way that they can be easily visualized.
The author has touched upon a lot of emotions, like friendship, sibling love, romance, jealousy, and not to mention the unexpected twists.

This book is a very interesting read. I loved reading about Janak’s angels. All three of the Janak angels are strong females, especially Keya and Rashi. Sheena has always been under the protective and loving umbrella of Sehgal’s family and does not know what a hardship means and may also appear a bit more of a bubbly kinda girl. But these three girls share a bond which even the real sisters might not share, It is this bond and the way Janak take care of his angels and is ready to go full blast on his own grandsons to protect them made me love this book even more.
Definitely the chemistry between Keya and Kabeir is breathtaking and their love-hate relationship is too much fun to read. For me the most interesting moment in the book has been the party on Yacht. On that fateful night, not only one but two love stories were taking place and two brothers who thought love is not meant for them has fallen hard for two beautiful girls.
I completely loved this book. All the emotions were perfectly displayed in the story. This book had everything, the friendship, the love, the brotherly love, the family bond and lots of suspense. You can say it had all the spices which are required for the perfect story.

Its a 4.5🌟 for me...
This book made me crave for love even more now... Kabier a rich handsome guy and Keya a beautiful focused and outspoken girl... Keya is Kabier's sister closest frd and angel of his grandfather... the bonds of love and friendship written in this book is simply soo amazing...working in the sehgal company Keya has achieved a lot in a young age so people are under some false image of her...Kabier joins this company and their path meets... He comes to know that there is sumone from within their company who leaks the confidential information to other people and he wants to know who is that person... as the story goes further their sizzling chemistry starts they fall for each other but every love story has hurdles so even they had....but they overcome every struggle and get close to each other but no one confesses their love for each other till the right time comes...
I liked how sure Kabier was to make Keya his life partner... their love confession part is soo heart touching... but than sumthng strange happens and that is d surprise point cos in d beginning u can't even imagine this turn is gonna come....but every true love has power so u ll get to c it... if u love reading romance than don't forget to pick up this one u won't be disappointed...can't wait for the 2nd book now

The story took me back to my teenage days when I used to read Mills & Boon novels. I can compare the story to a bar of chocolate, you cannot have enough of it with only one bite. I finished reading the entire book in a day!
The story revolves around the blossoming romance between Keya Karia and her boss and best friend’s brother Kabier Sehgal. Sparks fly between Keya and Kabier from their first meeting itself and the chemistry between the pair continues to grow throughout the story.
All the ingredients of a great romantic novel are there in this story: a foreign trip, a destination wedding, suspicion, jealousy, a yacht party, an unwell grandfather, a hostile mother and of course a villain!
The love scenes in the book are tastefully written. All the characters in the story are refreshingly modern. I particularly enjoyed reading about the friendship between Keya, Raashi and Sheena and the camaraderie between Kabier and his cousins. The book comes to an extremely satisfactory conclusion after the obligatory thwarting of the villain.
I ended the book feeling good about romance and looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Spending time with cousins while pigging on food and being doted by grandparents are experiences unique to Indian kids who grew up before the era of digitization set in leading to nuclear families. That environment of being around people effortlessly inculcates good traits in humans which are hard to be taught other wise. The fabric of many works of fiction set in Indian and written by Indians are based on these experiences. This book turned out to be one such classic example.
In the story, the protagonist, Kabier Sehgal takes over his grandfather's business. He suspects a leak of information as he begins losing deals which would ideally have materialized. He is weary and suspects Keya Kaira who holds a key position in the company. Typical romantic drama unfolds.
The book is a simple and perfect romance. The characterization is very rich and well thought out. However, the plot as it is doesn't deliver the surprise it is meant since the story turned almost predictable midway. I wish the writer put a wee bit more effort to make it a little more unpredictable. The writing is fluid and makes you stay with the book.
A perfect romance/mystery to curl up to and devour. I would certainly pick up rest of the series.
In the story, the protagonist, Kabier Sehgal takes over his grandfather's business. He suspects a leak of information as he begins losing deals which would ideally have materialized. He is weary and suspects Keya Kaira who holds a key position in the company. Typical romantic drama unfolds.
The book is a simple and perfect romance. The characterization is very rich and well thought out. However, the plot as it is doesn't deliver the surprise it is meant since the story turned almost predictable midway. I wish the writer put a wee bit more effort to make it a little more unpredictable. The writing is fluid and makes you stay with the book.

Very good , engrossing read interesting family ties.Friendship is important as well as relationship so a good message.Personal and professional life well meshed together along with a little match making and protective instincts of a grandfather.i could not put the book down once i started reading.Indian setting made it all the more interesting.

I enjoyed this novel. Good development of the main characters and sub characters.
I liked that the story took place in India. I have never been to India but I got a strong sense of it culturally from the writers perspective through the characters. This is a love story, a night in shining armor tale, and the writer delivers. Despite the lead characters background and personal trauma, the perfect man for her comes along and whisks the nightmares away. Perfect love story!

I just...I can't.
I know I picked it for the cheesiness, but the not so delicious dash of misogyny kind of soured it for me. Add to that the fact that such guys actually exist, all their god-complexes intact and considered highly desirable on the marriage market (that I'm unfortunate enough to be getting rather intimately acquainted with right now)... my eyes rolled out of my head and my brain is leaking out my ears.

This is my first time reading this author - I decided to start with the first book in the Sehgal family series. Not a bad debut at all - lots of action and drama. There's also a hot romance between the lead pair. The heroine is gutsy and stands up for herself, always a nice thing to see. Although there was a lot of inner thought that could have been done away with, this was an enjoyable read.

Such an amazing read. Although the story is one typical Indian t.v series kind of a love story (literally all the characters in the book reminded me of someone from a t.v show) but I really enjoyed the book. This book was a totally "unputdownable" for me.

Loved the storyline and sizzling chemistry between the Keya and Kabier. The author has woven the little sub-plots intricately into the romantic conflict between the two protags. The narration is smooth and flowing. Complete entertainer.

The Male Main Character (MMC) is full of red flags. There are too many instances of sexual assault and non-consent that is portrayed as passionate or romantic. I realize that the whole dominant, aggressive alpha male thing is a fantasy but I guess it’s just not me. Here are all the examples of the toxic and abusive behaviors of the MMC:
- He forcefully kisses her “until she stops resisting” which is literally sexual assault. It’s also important to note that he is her boss, and therefore, consent is always a tricky issue. I looked up the date to see that this book came out in 2016, which was before the global Me Too movement and a time when lots of sexually abusive behaviors were more normalized.
- He says the most heinous things to the Female Main Character (FMC) after sexually assaulting her that no woman with any self-respect should forgive someone for. He barely tries to redeem himself for his horrible treatment of her.
- He kisses her in her sleep to prevent her from flailing around in the midst of a PTSD nightmare. It is justified by saying that was the only way to stop her from thrashing, and because she felt peaceful in her sleep when she was kissed. Just to be clear though, when a person is sleeping, unless discussed and agreed to when they are awake, any sexual contact with them is sexual assault.
- He displays ridiculously possessive behaviors. Can’t stand it when she is friendly and close to any guy, including someone who has been clearly alluded to as a good friend.
- There are lots of scary boundary violations. There is a scene where the FMC tells him he can’t just barge into her room and he basically says he “can and he will.” There’s another scene where he threatens to “break down her door” when she’s not opening it. I’m the same scene, he also shouts at her that he “will never her alone” when she’s says she wants to be alone.
- There are multiple instances where he physically overpowers her, has rough sex with her and does it without protection because he “lacks patience” or “loses control” because I guess he just “wants her so much” or some shit.
- There are many times when the FMC calls him out for his misogynistic bigotry and he just laughs it off.
There is a very clear double standard in how the men vs the women are portrayed in this book. The FMC is a virgin; the MMC sleeps around. There is a scene where the MMC’s cousin (who’s the MMC in the next book), Sameer, is “disgusted” when some woman mentions five previous boyfriends (really? Five is too many?! Not that there should be an “acceptable” number anyway). The main villain is a woman who is “irrational” and “crazy” and all she wants is to destroy the FMC and even murder her because she couldn’t “have” the MMC and so neither could the FMC 🙄 — so basically the plot of a Hindi tv serial from the early 2000’s 🫠.
Other minor issues include:
-Too many exclamation points; they make the writing juvenile like a 9th grader’s Wattpad fanfic.
- Describing the FMC’s nipples as “rosy mounds” or “rosy buds.” Just in case it’s not clear, the FMC is an Indian woman and *not* a white woman, and this book was written by an Indian woman. South Asian women are typically brown-skinned and tend to have *brown* nipples.
Also, the main characters claim to “love” each other but their relationship is basically all about attraction and sex, so it would be more accurate to describe their feelings as “lust.”
If all you want to read is some novel with a decent amount of smut, then you could read this book if you are willing to overlook the toxic and abusive dynamics of the main relationship.

He had doubts that someone from hos company os selling secrets to the rival companyand an investigation proved it to be a woman. The suspicion falls on Keya Karia, who is a beautiful, talented girl and has achieved success at a very young age and has a very close relation with Janak Sehgal. Kabier decides to work closely with her to caught her red handed. But both of them fell for one another despi of having bad impressions about each other but they chose to bury it inside them. But then some misunderstanding happened which made them furious about each other.

A captivating start to the Sehgal Friends and Family series.
Take a Chance on Me starts off with a crackle of tension between Kabier and Keya. Their first impression of each other? Far from ideal. Kabier suspects her of leaking confidential info from Sehgal Systems, while Keya is left confused by the hostility of her new boss. But what neither of them expects is the spark of chemistry that refuses to be ignored.
Their connection unfolds quickly but not without a few bumps. While Keya does forgive Kabier a little too easily, the emotional pull between them makes it believable. Some wounds just want to heal when the right person is around.
Kabier’s transformation from a high-handed CEO to someone genuinely supportive was written with care, and Keya’s quiet strength really held the story together. I also loved the bond between her and her friends—Sheena and Raashi—especially how they support each other through everything.
Janak, Kabier’s grandfather, was another heart-stealer for me. His relationship with the girls was sweet and grounding—definitely gave found family vibes. The Sehgal siblings were a riot in the best way possible, and I’m already invested in the brewing chemistry between Sameer and Raashi.
The book has a clean, fast-paced narrative that doesn’t linger too long on drama but still delivers on the emotional punches. From office politics and steamy glances to Indian weddings and family bonds, it brings just the right mix of tradition and modern romance.

Thanks to the author Sapna Bhog for sending me this amazing book...its a 4.5🌟 for me...
This book made me crave for love even more now... Kabier a rich handsome guy and Keya a beautiful focused and outspoken girl... Keya is Kabier's sister closest frd and angel of his grandfather... the bonds of love and friendship written in this book is simply soo amazing...working in the sehgal company Keya has achieved a lot in a young age so people are under some false image of her...Kabier joins this company and their path meets... He comes to know that there is sumone from within their company who leaks the confidential information to other people and he wants to know who is that person... as the story goes further their sizzling chemistry starts they fall for each other but every love story has hurdles so even they had....but they overcome every struggle and get close to each other but no one confesses their love for each other till the right time comes...
I liked how sure Kabier was to make Keya his life partner... their love confession part is soo heart touching... but than sumthng strange happens and that is d surprise point cos in d beginning u can't even imagine this turn is gonna come....but every true love has power so u ll get to c it... if u love reading romance than don't forget to pick up this one u won't be disappointed...can't wait for the 2nd book now

To be very honest am not into romance as much as I am in genres, so for me it's a struggle to find a good romance read but after reading this cozy family saga, I think I have discovered my kind of fancy romantic read. I loved the way it was narrated and written. It revolves around KABIER SEHGAL and KEYA KARIA.
Brilliant, bold & beautiful, KEYA KARIA is at the top of her career. Her past is one big, dead and buried secret and she has her eyes set only on her future. But her new boss, Kabier Sehgal is making her life a living nightmare.

The opening scene is where Keya is in her BMW, now you know what I meant by 'Fancy', oh yeah it's just so stunning. I loved the fact that the book doesn't highlight much of unnecessary mushy-gushy romance, it's like a web series/movie and I definitely think it can be converted into a movie because it has all sort of drama and entertainment that is needed, the way it proceeds, the way it takes all the turns and turmoils. The author keeps the plotline classy and the book ends with the start of the next book in the, how interesting! I definitely enjoyed it to the core. The chemistry, the ego, the factor love was well inserted and the environment it's creates is so comfortable to dwell in. Just can't wait to get my hands on book two. Definitely recommended.

This book is dangerous in one way, that it glorifies workplace harassment and gives it an aspirational / romantic interpretation.
The story revolves around rich people of Mumbai but their women are portrayed very weak and regressive, living under the mercy of their men (approval for marriage, etc.), despite the London / international exposure.
It felt like the author wanted to write a romantic novel, with a few sex scenes in the second half. The rest of the book is just fluff to tell those scenes. Even those scenes lack the charm, after the first two times and feels like, reading about animals on heat. There is a namesake antagonist whose character is weakly developed. The secrets leaking, detective angle could have been better built.
Perhaps this works for people who like this genre of books, but definitely not for me. Honestly, I am a bit surprised about the number of positive reviews for this book. It is not all that different from the regressive TV serials, but the story is happening in a elite, rich society. I will not be continuing with the rest of the series. Not for me. A lot of the reviews in amazon is by women, or women IDs. Perhaps, this appeals to a certain type of readers.

Not for me
I borrowed this book looking at all the positive reviews. The book opened well. The language was good. But two chapters down, I couldn't stomach wasting one more moment on this unrealistic fantasy. I mean sure it's fiction and author has the creative license to do as she pleases with the characters and settings. But, hero kissing heroine at the first chance he gets her alone and to justify it as raw passion (ahem! Lust) . I mean, in the real world, a woman of self worth would have him arrested. Are people in high social circles animals? Secondly, the heroine clearly gets favours in a company setting. Again, real world, what kind of a CEO would so openly not just exercise but even display bias to a loved one in an official setting?? I think fifty shades was much better on this one aspect atleast, that Anastasia hated favours to promote her career. But here, the heroine lavishly revels in it. Not my favorite characters or my story. Clearly the author writes well but would have been nice if the characters had more depth than just physical attraction for each other.

I had such high hopes for this book but it did NOT deliver.
The plotline was so cliche, the characters bland and the plot "twist" could be predicted from a mile away.
The premise of the story was good and I think the author could have done a far better job than giving us the same recycled story filled with unnecessary conflicts, internalised misogyny and old fashioned relationship dynamics as in between keya and Kabier's mother.
The book portrays harmful notions regarding gender roles, virginity, social norms etc and I think this book could have been far better had the author approached certain things differently.
