This was a pleasant surprise - the title definitely did not lead me to expect a story about a girl descended from the ancient Celtic druids of Ireland who isn't so much ditzy as she's been put down all her life. The mythology is well-researched, too, and as an added bonus, the cat lives.
The problem is that the fanservice isn't particularly well drawn - the artist tries to contort Riri's body too much to give us new angles/excuses - and there are some definite jumps in the storytelling. But I'd read another volume.

This is another entry in the burgeoning "normal guy meets a -gal" manga genre. My girlfriend is a Gal, etc. The gal (gyaru) is sort of like a Jersey Shore girl but in Japan; deep and maybe fake tans, exaggerated wardrobe, free, easy, and brassy style, hint of promiscuity, etc. In this manga a self-exiled sorcerer is teaching at a high school, and discovers one of his students happens to possess serious magical power when she breaks into his room during a spell. She's a ditzy but sweet gyaru, who wants nothing more than to pass his science class so she can one day become a vet.
This volume is in two parts. The first part is fanservice. I mean technically it introduces everyone, but mostly you are getting the gal naked, with a random slime, and in weird camera angles. The second part is a bit more serious as it talks about getting her a wand and some of their background, but still, a little fanservice. The plot is kind of eh; not something like Yokai Girls where it matters much.
You're getting what you expect from the title. If you want a better gal story with fan service, ギャルごはん Gal Gohan Gyaru Cooking is pretty decent. If you want a magical girl story, The Ancient Magus' Bride, Vol. 1 is an obvious inspiration for this book though much, much better. I can't really rate this low because come on, that title. You know what you are getting into here. I could rate it four fish out of a school and it would have as much meaning.

I read it almost the same day I bought it. It is a quick read but mostly because it is doing a lot of fan service. Nothing is wrong with the fan service, at least to me. I was pleasantly surprised it was even there. I mean, I didn’t really anticipate this being in a Barnes And Noble, so I was intrigued.
I think my issue with the boom, and perhaps it just comes with the genre, is the lack of character development here. I had to do some research to even figure out what I was getting into in terms of genre (student - teacher), which makes me wish that there was more character development.
I’ll read volume 2 when it releases; I’m curious.

Wow, this one was disappointing. I did not like the MC, nor the teacher, nor really anything about this book. There was way too much fan service to enjoy the magic aspects. I don't mind fan service but there was like no purpose. The teacher wasn't a over-dramatic perv nor was the girl a big flirt.
Disappointing.

“I don’t know how reliable that is…. Looks lame.”
Toro is adorable. She wants to be a vet but struggles with school. She has natural magic and confounds her sensei when she breaks his boundaries.
Fia is awesome. I hope her personality grows some more with the help of Riri.
Sensei is definitely in over his head. We shall see what he does from here.

Cute little manga where a teacher helps a new girl use her magic from her ancient land of Ireland. Talks about Celtic and Druid’s even and features cute flirtation. Quick fun read.

Yen Press promoted this book on Twitter with the description, "You ever thought to yourself 'I want to read something like Harry Potter, but BETTER?' Well, my friends, we bring you Afterschool Bitchcraft."
Now, I am an avid reader and a savvy consumer, so I knew immediately that this staff member was full of it, but horrified curiosity compelled me to borrow this book and read it to find out HOW full of it they were.
My conclusion is that I don't know what kind of drugs that this staff member had ingested to reach this approximation, but I know that I could never afford them, nor would I ever want to.
I might feel compelled to try to promote this title as GOOD.
I know a SPECIFIC DEMOGRAPHIC will find SOME ENJOYMENT in this title.
I am not that demographic.

Guys, if your series is going to have fan service in it and have it on display any chance it can, at least make it APPEALING. I'm not going to sit here and say that I have the best taste in smut or fan service (cuz let's face it, I don't) but the fan service in this volume was either unappealing or straight up unattractive. Yes, this is a subjective opinion, but I feel like anyone who has read titles like Val x Love, Interspecies Reviewers, hell even Food Wars! will admit that the fan service is decent at best and unattractive at worst.
That aside, the characters are uninteresting, the story is pretty dull, and the artwork sans the fan service is average. I can forgive a dull plot in favor of enticing artwork and great fan service, but since both of those are not present in this manga, what we have is a below average ecchi manga that had one job and couldn't even do that right.
I can't imagine recommending this to anyone, even if they were trying out ecchi titles. Quite frankly, I'd sooner recommend Food Wars! or even We Never Learn before this. Try it if you want, but there's way better out there.
