I've given advice to half the town through my weekly advice column, but I can't seem to take any of those great gems and apply them to my own life. Namely: just get over him already!
I've spent two years pining after an arrogant playboy of an alpha, watching him flirt with every unattached omega in town. All the while, my wolf has been howling at me to do something, to make this right.
Because that playboy is my fated mate.
And at long last he's turned his attention back to me, chatting me up, acting like we never shared the most magical night of my life. I never thought he could be so cruel.
But now I realize the truth - he's not trying to be an asshole.
He just doesn't remember me.
And I don’t know what to do about that.
Should I guard my heart...or give him a second chance?
Welcome to Blackwater, Montana - a small town with a big personality, where shifters and humans coexist. Claiming My Enemy is a dual point of view, shifter mpreg novel with a guaranteed happy ending. The fourth in this series, this book can also be read as a standalone.
What a great next chapter in the Blackwater Pack series! I loved this book. It has just the right amount of angst, drama, self- discovery, soul- searching, family drama, love and joy! Old friends as are back, as loyal & protective as ever. It also has sex, hot sex, and babies. The road to HEA isn't smooth, but it is assured. There are some surprises, betrayals, and moments of sheer bliss. This is Nash and Holden's story. Holden never forgot Nash knotted him, then left him. How could your fated mate do that! Nash, battling demons, gets alcoholic blackouts. He truly doesn't remember Holden. But his wolf does! When reality comes crashing down on Nash, he is horrified at his behavior; begging Holden for a second chance. When in doubt, follow your wolves. They are wiser than you know, and truer than you deserve. This book pulled me in from the start and would't let me go. I loved it! Get. It. Now. It stands alone, but I recommend reading the first 3 books, too. I can't wait to read book 5. This book contains adult themes and language, mm sex, and is intended for mature readers only.
Alpha Nash is a bit of a... well, Nash-hole. He's a never settle down and sleep with everyone once type of guy. Omega Holden is furious with Nash and still trying to heal from what the man did to him 2 years ago, but Nash being Nash just layers on the hurt over and over and over again. So when Nash comes on to him pretending they've never met before, it's the last straw for Holden.
This is one of my older favorite books that I never got around to writing a review for, apparently. So this time around, I figured it was better late than never.
I love Holden. Who he is as a person, his personality, and even his job drew me in. I see Nash as the manwhore everybody wants and usually gets, for only one night, thus leaving plenty of broken hearts behind. When he's confronted, not just once, but by two different omegas, he realizes he has a serious problem. The road to win Holden's trust and heart is a hard one for Nash as both Nash and Holden have deep hurts from their pasts while growing up.
What I need to stop doing is reading about alcoholics who magically get better. Normally in the books I read, it takes a lot for a shifter to even feel buzzed because of their metabolism. I think I would have liked to see him struggle with getting sober and for that to be part of their journey together. But, once I got past the whole black out drunk, I loved these two, they were really sweet together. This was a quick read with minimal angst.

Rating: 3 stars The major problem with this book was the ease with which Nash overcame his drinking problem. I just didn’t buy into the fact that reconciling with Holden would solve all his problems. Also, had I been Holden, I would have insisted that he get some sort of help.
this was so much fun.. it was entertaining and fun.. and cute and sexy and made me smile. such a sweet story that was a fast read and made me happy. i loved it and cant wait for the next
I struggled with making this 2 or 3 stars. Honestly, I wanted to really like this but there were things that held me back. I gave it three stars because I finished it, and I did like Nash and Holden.
It's clear in the beginning that Nash has a drinking problem. For me, the first 30% of this book was good because Nash was dealing with a real life issue, alcoholism. Holden was dealing with feeling rejection and just trying to move on and live his life and not let Nash not remembering him stop him from living that life. I feel like the alcoholism and Nash getting help and Holden's support could have been a great thing for this book and would have made it interesting. But it was barely touched on.
There were a lot of inconsistencies in this book. Nash wondered if Holden had hungry days growing up...he already talked about his childhood and eating out of trash cans. Another one: Holden was talking about his column and said he wanted to go into syndication and he conversed with Nash about it, and then later Nash asks if he ever thought about going into syndication. Holden shrugged and said he didn't know when earlier in the book he clearly stated he did want syndication. Also, in previous books, pregnancy was 6 months for shifters, but in this one it's two? There' are inconsistencies and the author needs a better editor. This isn't the first book in this series that I've found these, but after this many in the series, I felt like it was time to mention them. This really held me back from enjoying this book more.
I cannot get enough of these books! I am going to be so sad when I finish this series!
I love all the elements of these books. The characters are so dynamic and and amazing! The stories are so life like that I just cannot get enough. I really love the fact that the plots through out the book are basically the same but they are different and real life issues so many face daily!
This book was really sweet. I liked how the romance developed between Nash and Holden. I just feel like it would have been cute if Holden started calling Nash by his Korean name. But it wasn't a deal breaker. My only hang up about this book was that the issues seemed to resolve themselves quickly and I wanted a little more depth
A great story with interesting characters and an intriguing storyline full of misunderstandings, second chances, hope, devastation, betrayal, and more that leads to a deep love and a sweet HEA
I really love this series. It's just the right mix of short, sweet, sexy, and a little angst. Add in adorable babies and family and it's the perfect mix. I would definitely recommend this book and rest of the series.
I love Nash and Holden’s story! It has a little bit of a different take so that’s nice and Nash ended up been so sweet. I can’t wait to read Zayne and Pax’s story!
Wow! It takes you from feeling like a nobody to having a mate as great as his. And the babies!!!! Thank you for writing such a good book. I can’t wait till the next one.
Claiming My Enemy Blackwater Pack, Book 4 By: Liam Kingsley Narrated by: Austin Jay
I enjoyed this audiobook, it is a great MM shifter romance. It is well written with interesting storylines that are captivating from start to end. The characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with. Nash, an alpha shifter, is a successful businessman, he built an empire from the ground up. But he is a known player and his “love them, leave them and forget about them” ways earned him the nick name of Nash-Hole. There is a reason for his forgetting about them and it is not what you would have thought. The more I got to know Nash the more I liked him, his upbringing, while not entirely bad was lacking, he could never please his father enough no matte how hard he tried. He also had issues with drinking and being out of touch with his inner wolf. An incident with one of his employee opens his eyes and then there was Holden. Holden, an omega shifter, met his fated mate two years earlier but he, the Nash-hole just loved him and left him, it was heartbreaking for him knowing his mate did not want him and then to find out he was easily forgotten. But when Nash comes back into his life he wants nothing to do with him, but Nash convinces him to give him a second chance. I loved these two together, they were perfect for each other, each had their own issues and inner demons but when they finally open up about it it brings them even closer. This story contains a whole lot of heart, it flows naturally and is nicely plotted with plenty of drama, angst, heartfelt and emotional moments and some hot romance. Liam Kingsley, thank you for the great story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Austin Jay is a talented narrator and voice artist. He did a great job portraying the characters, bringing them to life, giving each their own distinct voice and personality, making it easy to follow along and tell who is who. He set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the character’s emotions and projected them into his performance. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another fabulous listen🎧
I wasn't expecting this enemies-to-lovers romance to be so deep, but Nash and Holden's story was incredibly emotional. From the misunderstanding that sparked hatred after their first meeting to confronting their past trauma and coming to terms with difficult family situations, these men went through so much together over the course of this story. Those early days of Holden hating Nash for a disastrous one-night stand seem so far away now that I've reached the end of their epic story. Both Nash and Holden went through immense character growth throughout this book, and it was incredibly satisfying to see them mature as individuals and as a mated couple. I was expecting this entire story to be about Nash and Holden getting together, but was pleasantly surprised to see how much more of this book focused on what happened after they agreed to give things a chance. It's not often that I get to listen to romances that cover more than the honeymoon stage, and I loved getting an extended look at how their coupled-up life turned out. As satisfied as I was with the overall storyline, I do wish this author had made the side-plotlines feel more believable. I wasn't entirely convinced by the way Nash resolved things with his drinking problem, Trevor, and his dad, and any mention of Holden's career completely vanished towards the end of the story. Minor complaints aside, I thought this was a wonderfully written romance with excellent narration from Austin Jay.
**I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this book. This review expresses my honest thoughts and opinions.
An enjoyable enemy to lovers romance. My heart went out to both when reading their story but especially to Nash and the way in which he'd been unknowingly dealing with his problems. This led to pain for Holden but when he discovers the reasons behind Nash's actions, he becomes more understanding. Forgiveness came very quickly, much more so than I would have thought with how long Holden was hurt and angry towards Nash. I loved that they took the time to get to know each other once they reconnected with Nash wanting to prove himself to his mate and they both needed the time to trust each other with how much they had both been hurt by others in the past. Nash really gets behind being a mate and wooing his partner, it was lovely to read. They work really well together as a couple as they overcome several hurdles including a big dose of drama towards the end. They have great chemistry and you can sense the attraction between them and feel the love that grows over time. Again, there's really good interaction with the pack and their friends, many offering support in times of need. This is a really good addition to the Blackwater Pack series and one that I would recommend reading. I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
I've read a bunch of shifter stories by numerous authors, but this is the first one to address the serious problem of alcohol addiction. I have called previous volumes in this series cozy and hot. Well this one is certainly hot, but it can never be described as cozy. Nash has a drinking problem coupled with the personality of a playboy who chases, beds and leaves every omega around. Unfortunately, one of those was Holden who is actually his fated mate. Holden fell hard, but Nash doesn't even remember their encounter and interacts with Holden as if he is a stranger. There is a high angst factor here as Holden tries to deal with the rejection and all the feelings that inspires. Inevitably, as this is a romance and will be a HEA, Nash does remember and is revolted by what he has become. The rest of the book describes these two trying to learn to forgive another and yourself, rebuild a trust that has been broken, overcome a serious addiction and become a family. The saddest book in this series at the beginning, with a character initially not so easy to like. I wasn't sure I would buy Nash's regret and redemption, but I totally did. Another fine entry in this series. I have one more to go and will be sad to leave all these characters behind.
This is an enjoyable MM shifter romance with a “enemies to lovers” undertone & it was an absolute pleasure to read. It has a intriguing, well-paced plot with emotional undertones. The characters are quite complex individuals with realistic flaws, one of them is struggling with self-esteem issues portrays regrets for past action while the other one is rather cautious about becoming involved again. There is some good support from the secondary characters. There is: a alpha male wolf shifter (Nash) with a drinking problem has a one-night-stand with a omega male shifter (Holden) who has painful memories of a unexpected rejection when Nash forgot the encounter, some twists, drama, wolf shifters, fated mates, friendship, family issues, secrets, deceit, betrayal, loneliness, attractions, animosity, strange despair, discovery, confrontations, aggression, accusations, vulnerability, shame, emotional turmoil, apologies, memories, groveling, hope, surprises, contentment, love, some steam & a delightful conclusion. I would recommend this MM shifter romance to people who enjoy reading this genre.
This is the first book I’ve listened to in this series. I am vouch for this being able to read as a stand alone. While it was apparent some of the side characters had their own story at some point, it did not have any bearings on this story. Although, I am curious if we got to see Nash and Holden in the background of previous books.
This was a fairly enjoyable story. I wish it would have explored a few plot points more than it did. I felt like the two biggest storylines were just washed under the rug in the end. I appreciated the storyline of Nash being an alcoholic and realizing he needed help...but beyond that....nothing...except for a few mentions about wishing he could drink. I also wish that the pain of being lied to was also dropped as soon as Nash and Holden had the conversation. It wasn’t even mentioned after they had their own baby. That kind of pain doesn’t just go away. It felt like the resolution was superficial.
Austin Jay did a great job with the voices and emotions of the characters. I’ve come to really enjoy his work.
Claimed by My Enemy is the fourth book in the Blackwater Pack series by author Liam Kingsley. This book is written in dual POV. Though part of a series these books do not have to be read in order. I have read them all in order and loved them. Nash is bisexual. He doesn’t take the same person home twice. He is an Alpha who likes his freedom. Holden works for the local paper. He is not the kind of Omega to throw himself at an Alpha. He has been avoiding Nash for two years. He is also hurt that Nash doesn’t remember meeting him the first time. He grew up in a foster home and could not shake the feeling of abandonment from that. Nash is just who Holden needs if Holden can let him in. They each have a little of what the other needs. They are great together. Overall great story. I loved how we meet people we knew from other books before I also loved where this story went. When you want a nice sweet romance, this is the book to pick up.
Even if you forget, your wolf knows! Nash, was out doing his usual drunken partying but was experiencing a sense of discontent. Nash was a playboy, who enjoyed his exploits, with a no seconds policy. He saw Holden, who works for the paper, and was taken with his looks. He thought he would be successful in his attempts to hit that. Holden rejected him and he didn't know why. He forgot his prior exploit with Holden. Holden never forgot. Nash, had been with most of his Omega friends. Holden has abandonment issues from early childhood, exacerbated by his perception of Nash's rejection. Nash, knotted him, only he doesn't remember. He has an alcohol problem. Will Nash admit his problem? Will Nash talk to Holden and explain? Will Holden listen? Can they move forward? Will Nash remember? Good story. Good flow. Nash, is a good character because of his flaws. I recevied an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Nash and Holden had an amazing encounter that lead to the realization that they're fated mates. Unfortunately, Nash is struggling in the depths of an addiction, alcoholism. As a result, when they meet again, he doesn't remember him. Holden is suffering from self-esteem issues and this perceived rejection just adds fuel to the fire. Nash is a consummate playboy and Holden has watched from afar, witness to his hopes and dreams being shattered. Once Nash realizes that he has a serious problem, he does his best to change. There was plenty of miscommunication between them as they both struggled with forgiveness and learning to trust each other. Holden was strong and absolutely made Nash work hard for their second chance. Ultimately, Nash was able to redeem himself and salvage their relationship.
Holden had been pining for 2 years after Nash left him after a one night stand.
Fated mates should never leave one another but Nash had.
Nash slept with every omega he could and never looked back, but why had he done it to his fated mate. Things take a turn for the worse when Nash has issues at work.
Holden realises after 2 years of hurt that Nash really didn't remember them getting together or the fact that they were fated mates. Nash starts to date Holden and the pasts come tumbling out.
Great writing, great narration, wolves, shifter, mpreg, heartache, love and a HEA.
Claiming My Enemy Blackwater Pack, Book 4 By: Liam Kingsley Narrated by: Austin Jay Series: Blackwater Pack, Book 4 Length: 6 hrs and 41 mins
❤❤❤❤ Overall 🎧🎧🎧🎧 Narration 📚📚📚📚 Story Read at 1.00 speed on Audible
Alpha shifter Nash is an unabashed playboy businessman with problems, and Omega shifter Holden his forgotten one-time hookup and fated mate. With the hurt and shame of this unintended rejection looming over them, their relationship gets off to rocky start that's followed by plenty of passion and tests of their love and commitment. Their family-centered HEA (there's Mpreg) is hard-won and satisfying, though I do wish time had been devoted to Nash overcoming substance abuse given its massive importance in the storyline.
This was my first trip to Blackwater but I had no issues following along. Narrator Austin Jay delivered a solid performance that made for an enjoyable listen. I received this free review copy audio book by request and have left this honest review voluntarily.
Such an unlikely pairing: an journalist running an advice column and a manw***e. But that's what happens in this fourth book of the Blackwater series. Holden and Nash are just too opposite. But on one tavern night heavy with alcohol Nash hooks up with Holden for an intense one-night stand. At least that's what Nash remembers the next day. Sure he remembers the hookup; just can't remember the man. The trouble is Holden does remember and his heart is stuck on Nash. Here is a story of liquor being the villian and Nash the victim. How does Holden help and not just make excuses for Nash's fate, and how does Holden hold on hoping Nash sees the light at the end of a blurry tunnel he's created for himself. This is my honest review for the ARC I received.
Holden had been brutally betrayed by the man that was his mate. Not knowing why, he was miserable for two years.
Nash’s wolf was miserably unhappy. Not knowing why, Nash just continues his drinking and in general being a “Nash-Hole”.
This book was different than the other books in the series. A sense of melancholy that made the words seem more important. I liked the characters. I thought Nash’s alcohol issue were glossed over a bit, and Holden did forgive him pretty easily. That said, I thought this book was the best of the series so far.
A great story! I'm not sure if it was enemies to lovers or second chances, but it was definitely one devastated omega and an oblivious alpha. I really enjoyed the rollercoaster of emotions that I was taken on in this story. It was great to see two different shifters come together like these two did.
The only reason this wasn't a 5 star was because I didn't understand the entire alcoholism aspect. If shifters weren't affected by it, how could one be an alcoholic? How could one drink enough to be tipsy?
Claiming My Enemy is book 4 in the Blackwater Pack series. This is an enjoyable enemies to lovers, second chance story. Holden and Nash are fated mates, too bad Nash doesn't remember their night together. Nash is a bit of a playboy and drinker, and doesn't always remember who he spends his nights with. This is an emotional rollercoaster as Holden gives Nash a second chance and they find their happy ending together. Narrator Austin Jay does a fabulous job. I really enjoy his narrations.
Holden and Nash may be fated mates but they definitely don’t have an easy time of it! Holden has known for 2 years that Nash is his fated mate but even though Nash feels a pull towards Holden, he can’t remember their one night together. They don’t have it easy but I really like seeing the changes in Nash as Holden gives him a chance to redeem himself and prove that he can be a good mate. I want thrilled with the twist in this story even though I understand it, but I’m glad how everything worked out. I voluntarily reviewed a gifted copy of this audio book.
