Timothy M. Dolan

Cardinal Dolan served as the President of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops from 2010–2013 and was granted the titular position as Cardinal-Priest of Nostra Signora di Guadalupe a Monte Mario (English: Our Lady of Guadalupe of Mount Mario) in Rome.
Dolan is widely known for his conservative values and charismatic media personality. He previously served as Archbishop of Milwaukee from 2002 to 2009, preceded by service as an Auxiliary Bishop of St. Louis from 2001 to 2002. Time Magazine named Dolan one of the "100 Most Influential People in the World" for 2012.

I love this! I love the daily reflections! I've gone through all of them and the messages are amazing! This book really has opened my eyes and now I'm reflecting on lots! Very very great book! The reflections have scriptures and a page to go along with! Love it! Definitely recommend!!!!

This was my second Catholic devotional book for the year. I read it based on my mom’s recommendation. And of course I was familiar with Cardinal Dolan from St. Louis. I enjoyed this book as well. I screenshotted and journaled a lot of the entries. 5 stars.

Good evening, my fellow Book Dragons and welcome to another Sacred Sunday. I do hope you had a peaceful and enjoyable day. This evening’s Gem is quite beautiful in it’s simplicity. There is no razzle-dazzle here, only a simply cut stone in the shape of a cross, yet it reflects a brilliant light from within. This is Cardinal Timothy Dolan’s new devotional “Who Do You Say I Am?”.
Dolan starts with the question Jesus asked of Peter, “Who do you say I am?” as the starting point for this book of reflection. A simple question. We see it all the time in various forms. No, you say? But I bet you do and don’t realize it. Remember that Facebook question that dares you to post, “Post the one word you think of when you think of me” that is a “who do you say I am?” yet so often people who wear the moniker Christian do not do this when it comes to the person they claim to follow.
I liked this book very much and I am not Catholic, but I have a lot of respect for Cardinal Dolan who stands up for his beliefs very boldly and outspokenly. He does so again in this book by the topics he chooses in his reflections and encourages others to understand what they truly stand for by reflecting upon their positions, studying them, studying the Bible, and really thinking, acting on and discussing their faith.
It is written the same way Dolan speaks, plain, warm and caring. There are no long theological words. The ideals are definitely theological and do have long theological words attached to them, but they are simplified. Dolan wants us to concentrate on the substance. He wants us to concentrate on Christ. I love the entry for October 12th, to paraphrase ..the gift of God’s life in your soul is your’s for the asking – one can’t earn it, but it can be asked for …these are simple truths. That is what I have always loved about Dolan. He has that friendly Irish face. He has a smile that reminds me of a friend of mine whose smile used to light up the room with his love for his fellow man because of his love for Christ. But woe to those who flouted God’s laws using by trying to use God’s own Word against Him. But I digress.
If you or someone you know would love a daily devotional, one page reflections on daily faith, especially a person of the Catholic faith, this is the book I would strongly recommend.

A Right-Sized Daily Devotional for a Busy Person
This book was a great help to me throughout 2020.
The daily vignettes are positive, insightful, and uplifting.
It is a great way to begin each and every day, even if 2021 and the years come are better than 2020 has been.
I will continue to read this in 2021 and beyond.
