In Love On Anchor Island

Rate this book
Come along as Wall Street Journal bestselling author Terri Osburn takes us back to the island that started it all.

Roxie Chandler is a screw up. She doesn’t look for trouble, but it finds her anyway. After creating a scandal in her hometown, she takes refuge on Anchor Island, her cousin’s adopted home in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Planning to stick around only until she finds an alternative, Roxie doesn’t expect to make friends. Or to find love.

Alex Fielding is living his dream. A small town doctor making a difference in his neighbors’ lives, he ignores his father’s demands to return to the big city and take his rightful place in the family practice. His life on Anchor Island is quiet and simple, just how he likes it, until a leather-clad rebel with a chip on her shoulder moves in next door.

Roxie and Alex get off to a rough start, but sparks fly even when they’re fighting. The more he learns about her, the more Alex wants to save her from herself. And the longer she’s on the island, the more Roxie thinks about staying. But when her prediction comes true and she screws up once again, Anchor Island may no longer be her port in the storm.

Roxie doesn't look for trouble but it finds her anyway. She does her best but the game is rigged against her. After a doctor lies to her and makes her the unwitting 'other woman' she is forced to flee with her tail between her legs and her pride in tatters.

She lands on Anchor Island and runs smack bang into another doctor.

Alex has his own problems. He has chosen to be a small town doctor serving the Anchor Island community but his family of high profile physicians are anything but pleased. They think his talents are wasted and want him to return to Philadelphia where the big money is.

Terri Osburn is one of my favorite CR authors. Her books are fairly typical of the genre though she does manage a few surprises. I don't read as much CR as I used to but I'll always come back for Terri Osburn.

«Non posso farlo.» Roxie gli girò attorno e si rimise a correre. Alex la raggiunse in pochi secondi. «Che cosa non puoi fare?» Alzò la voce perché lo udisse al di sopra del fragore della pioggia che ora cadeva a dirotto. Nonostante l’ombrello, erano entrambi fradici. «Questo.» Lo sospinse per allontanarlo da sé. «Non posso restare qui, quindi non posso innamorarmi di te più di quanto non sia già.» «Sei innamorata di me?»

Hai me.

I read this after reading an ARC of the next book. Roxie is a pretty big secondary character in the next novella, and so is Alex. I enjoyed seeing them here, before they grew into themselves(mostly Roxie)

I Have to say that I read the 1st 4 books in the series in 2018 I think, and I don't remember anything. Even taking that into account, this can be read as a stand alone. I am sure that if I reread the whole series later, I will enjoy this book even more.

I was so excited to hear we as readers were going back to Anchor Island. It is my favorite series. The people are lovable, warm, real and funny. This book did not disappoint. I loved it.

We were introduced to two new characters. Roxie Chandler, cousin to Beth who was in the first Anchor Island book. Roxie has been banished by her mother to the island because she has shamed the family one too many times. Seems Roxie makes some not so good decisions but instead of her family being forgiving and supporting her, they just tear her down. Roxie has come to believe that she is not worthy of good things coming her way.

Roxie is staying with her cousin Beth and her family while she is on the island. She is going to help put the island back together after a hurricane has gone through and torn it apart. There is lots of help needed to get the island ready for the spring when all the tourists start to come back. On the way over to the island on the ferry Roxie is complaining about the island in every way when she meets a man. He is behind her and hears her complaining about his island. His name is Alex Fielding and he is not very happy with the way she is tearing down his island when she has never been there before.

Alex Fielding is the doctor on the island. He has been doing it for three years and absolutely loves it. He knows this is where he was meant to be. He father and brother are both part of a bigger practice in P.A. and his father is also calling him and trying to talk him into coming home and working with them in the practice. Telling his to stop wasting his time on the island, he has had his fun now it is time to get to work. Alex won't back down; he knows where he wants to be.

Alex and Roxie realize they are neighbors the day she gets to the island. She sees him and he can feel the chill across the driveway. They get thrown together many times, and each time it is the same, Roxie is very "grumpy". As time moves forward and Roxie starts to make friends and get her bearings on the island, she realizes she loves it there. Her and Alex start to get along better too. Will they form a relationship, and if they do will it be able to last through Roxie’s insecurities?

This book was such a wonderful read. It was wonderful being back on the island. The old characters being involved as well, some pregnant, some giving birth. Most married and living their happily ever after’s. You can read this book as its own, but it would be so much nicer if you knew the other characters beforehand. All the books are wonderful books to read. They are fun, loving and warm. And if you haven't read Sid's book you have to. She was the best. I must say reading this book and being back at the island makes me wish the author would do more to make this series keep going. I have missed these people.

This was a fun short read. I liked how Roxie finally found a place to belong, that by helping where needed she met so many people who became friends and later wanted to help her out by helping her find a way to stay permanently. I wasn't sure about the romance angle with Alex, their first meeting not the greatest, but he soon became a champion of Roxie's.

Yay for going back

I loved Anchor Island from the beginning. So glad you went back. This story is awesome in how it takes someone who struggles with acceptance and shows them it can happen. For anyone who has ever struggled, that's a good thing to read about. As always, written very well. Totally loved this one.

This book was ok. The general story wasn't bad but it seemed rushed and the book had a lot of typos. The fast pace made it hard to feel invested in any of the characters. I've read all the Anchor Island stories up to this point and these last two haven't been as good as the others.

It was such a joy to return to Anchor Island once again to catch up with beloved characters and see where they are now – and to be introduced to Roxie and Alex, a couple who will win your heart even when you think they are just too opposite to co-exist let alone fall in love… but, you’ll see what I mean.

In Love on Anchor Island brings Roxie to the island to help her cousin with the aftermath cleanup work from one nasty hurricane’s attack. Roxie has made some questionable decisions and brought down the anger and hurt of her family to the point where she’s basically on her own now. Coming to Anchor Island is kind of a second chance to get her life right, even if she complains about it loud and strong on the ferry trip over – and her disparaging remarks were overheard by the island’s doctor, Alex. Not the best first impression by a long shot.

Alex has found his place, his home, exactly where he wants and needs to be on this island and is in an ongoing battle of words and emotions with his father about coming home to work in the family practice. So, overhearing Roxie’s opinions about his adopted new home formed his impression of this stranger and Roxie didn’t do much to change that opinion by her actions. Yet, there is a spark of attraction there that both will fight long and hard to ignore – until that becomes impossible.

Watching Alex and Roxie work through that first impression, getting to catch up with characters that I’ve loved in previous books, and seeing two deserving people get a second chance at not only life but at love was an enjoyable, emotional journey. I had such a good time with In Love on Anchor Island and would not hesitate to recommend it, or the earlier books, to any reader who loves a good romance, likable characters and a story that will touch your heart.

I own a Kindle edition of In Love on Anchor Island.

Sparks fly from the very first paragraphs between Roxy and Alex!

You know there’re going to be explosions between the two main characters before they even get off the ferry to Anchor Island. Luckily, even on the very small island there is a chance they won’t be in contact again, right? Wrong. They end up right next door. Alex is a neighbor of Roxy’s cousin. Roxy is visiting because she has a habit of getting into trouble—trouble bad enough this time that her mother has tossed her out. So… She really has few options left when her cousin invites her to come and stay, and help the island get back into shape after a hurricane badly damaged the place. She doesn’t need Alex’s presence that brings out fireworks she doesn’t want to handle—internally and externally—but oh well.

I loved this book! Not only is the romance solid, but we get to meet all of the previous characters from Ms. Osburn’s Anchor Island series, which are some of my favorite of her books. I really felt Roxy’s dilemma. We don’t know the instigating event that forces her to leave home, but it’s so obvious that she knows what she did was wrong, she just doesn’t know how to fix herself. Alex is just plain a good man—and a fixer and a healer. Just what Roxy could use. In Love on Anchor Island is highly recommended!

This book is part of the Ticket to True Love series, with other authors following. Ms. Osburn is one of my favorite authors, and because she’s part of this series, I’m following through with the next book.

Roxie Chandler is making an impromptu visit to Anchor Island. Her mother arranged her visit. She sent Roxie here to escape the scandal. This bothered me. Family should be there to support you, not throw you out without listening. On the ferry Roxie meets Alex Fielding, the local doctor. Feisty Roxie and the handsome doctor get off on the wrong foot even though there is a powerful attraction between them. I wondered what would happen next. I liked Roxie. She isn't the troublemaker she thinks she is. She has a good heart. Alex loves the Island and the people. He plans to stay here. His father has other plans. I enjoyed seeing Alex romance Roxie. He's patient and gentle. He makes Roxie laugh and open her heart. I fell in love with him. It's so nice to visit this small Outer Banks Island and visit all the people who live here. They are so warm and welcoming. Terri Osburn created a beautiful happy place. Love and happiness bloom here.

I was so excited to return to Anchor Island and it did not disappoint. Roxie has arrived in Anchor Island to help her cousin out when she meets Alex , not the best first meeting and then to find out they are neighbors is the icing on the cake. Alex is the town doctor, he loves his job and the town. Even though their first meeting did not go well, they can't deny the sparks that fly between them.

They are pure opposites and are both looking for acceptance in their lives. I love this little island, where everyone knows everyone and always willing to help out. It was great to catch up with previous characters. This is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone.

An Island Of Love

According to her family, Roxie had made a mess of her life. She goes to Anchor Island to be with her cousin, Beth, who has always been supportive. Alex Fielding, M.D. lives next to Beth & her family. Alex’s & Roxie’s initial meeting did not go well. Ms. Osborn easily added more characters to the story. There were many people who befriended Roxie. Roxie had fallen in love with Alex, but a medical emergency has Roxie believe she messed up again & she should move on!

4.5 stelle

Terri Osburn is a fabulous writer! This is a delightful story about a woman starting over, shedding her preconceptions about herself, and learning her own worth--of course, with the help of a good man, and good friends, too! It's a quick, fun, standalone read, that's part of the Ticket to True Love series (so fun to see each author's creative take on those themes) and also connects with Terri's Anchor Island series.

This was a really cute story about Roxie and Alex. When they first meet it isn't love at first sight. Roxie finally realizes that Alex isn't a bad guy and they decide to become friends. Roxie fits in really well on Anchor Island and is a big help to everyone. Roxie sticks up for Alex when she feels he has been wronged and Alex realizes that he has feelings for Roxie. Roxie thinks she made another huge mistake and tries to leave town, but Alex and her cousin, Beth have other ideas.

I loved this novella set on Anchor Island! I had read the original 4 books in the series and was so glad to get another story, and to get an update on the characters from the previous books, with some kids added to the mix. Roxie came to stay with her cousin, after some problems at home. Alex was immediately smitten and never swayed in his pursuit.

A shortish love story about Roxie, who doesn't get along with her family, and needs a place to stay so comes to visit the only cousin who loves her, Beth, on Anchor Island. She also helps fixing up the local stores destroyed by a recent hurricane. The person she cannot abide is the local doctor, Alex, who constantly teases her. So she teases back until they don't.
