Interpol insists the Joshi charity clinic in Goa is a front for criminal activity no matter what Dr Anjali Joshi thinks of the ridiculous idea. Her busybody neighbour makes things worse by spreading rumours about Anjali’s lack of mental marbles and her... er... questionable morals.
She goes to the beach café only for a little reprieve.
Except she stumbles into Joe.
Anjali never expected to see her brooding ex from college who vanished years ago without a single word to her. She doesn’t have time to rip his heart out and stomp on it. Or to kiss him.
Nor does she expect to see Rishi, her perfect ex.
He claims he wants her back.
And why are both men so curious about the clinic’s problems?
A Goan Holiday is a contemporary romance novel with nostalgia, drama, and a side of suspense to keep you guessing.
Praise for A Goan Holiday
KIRKUS: “An engaging tale about a love triangle featuring doctors set in beautiful Goa.”
MIDWEST BOOK REVIEW: “A Goan Holiday ramps up to include romance and intrigue... difficult to put down.”
A Goan Holiday is a story of second chances, of old memories, of having loved and lost and of What ifs? Ever wondered what your life might have been, if not for an event that changed its course entirely?
Meet Rishi, Joe, and Anjali and friends. A group of 7 medical students, looking forward to a bright future ahead, until one terrible week in November 2008 which changes their lives entirely. One of them disappears, leaving the others confused and devastated. Eleven years later, they meet again by chance in Goa. Will they able to grab the second chance offered by life?
Anitha Perinchery’s A GOAN HOLIDAY is romantic suspense with elements of drama, suspense, and thriller. At the heart of the story, it’s a romance but the story has so much more to offer. The story surely is a love story revolving around three characters Anjali, Joe, and Rishi but it becomes more complex as it moves ahead.
The plot starts with friendship and college life, love, fun but soon takes a surprising turn with heartbreak, betrayal, the involvement of police and Mafia. In short, it’s a wild ride from start to end which will keep you hooked. The story is narrated through 2 timelines; past and present, both of which converge towards the end. Like putting together a jigsaw puzzle, we witness many ups and downs of the relationships of these three main characters and how it fits in the overall story.
I liked the way the author has portrayed characters of Anjali, Rishi, and Joe. There are other characters as well but these 3 have been the prime focus. I would have liked a little more focus on the supporting cast though. The book was long but didn’t feel long or dragging at any point. This book is a spinoff of the first book One Monsoon in Mumbai: A Contemporary Novel with Romance, Comedy, Drama, and Suspense, Set in India. and I would recommend reading the first book before reading this one, but it is not completely necessary. This is a great story on its own and can be read as a standalone.
Overall, the author has crafted an exciting story with a blend of romance, drama, and thriller, full of twists and turns. It has an exciting story with some unique characters. If you like reading romantic suspense, you will enjoy this.
I received a complimentary copy from the author. This is my honest and voluntary review.
I revived a free copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.
I really enjoyed this book, the characters and characters development are great. Usually I am not a huge fan of prequels or now and then books, but this book seemed the get things right.
I was a little sceptical if the main characters in this book, simply as I thought Anju and Rishi were my least favourite characters actually I thought they were the perfect villains of the last book. I liked that "Jackass" nickname attached to Rishi, and even though these were not my favourite characters I really enjoyed watching them grow in this book.
I think Anitha nailed the Asian/Indian culture perfectly. From family responsibilities/pressure, expectation and social standing. I liked the way the books are tied together the backstory and the cross over from the first book was perfectly done.
I would recommend reading the first book before reading this one, but it is not completely necessary. This is a great story what it lacks in action it more that makes up for in character development. I would have like to see more from Vikram and Seema, but I am really intrigued but the characters featured in the next book. I though he played a great part in this story.
They became good friends in medical school, until love, lies and being a dutiful daughter got in the way and almost destroyed their lives.
Anjali found Rishabh to be the less rigid of the two, but she was drawn to the enigmatic Joe. Meanwhile, as a proper daughter, and trying to be a good friend to Rishabh, keeping his secret from ruining his life, the growing love between her and Joe was a well-kept secret, until he mysteriously disappears, leaving no trace and crushing her heart.
Years have passed, Anjali has ended her farce of a marriage to Rishabh and taken control of her life, or so she thought when a Tinder date turns out to be Joe…but Anjali isn’t the same girl he left behind and she wants answers, but is she ready to hear them?
Blackmail, fear of family reprisal and/or shame and old traditions in a modern world make Anitha Perinchery’s A GOAN HOLIDAY a genre-crossing romantic suspense that is filled with moments of humor, heartbreak and joy, as well as a testament to the power of love, individuality and acceptance. Told through flashbacks in time, we witness the beginning, middle and end of the relationships of these three main characters. Hang on for an amusing and sometimes irritating cast of supporting (or non-supportive) characters that help drive this story to a conclusion that contains suspense, danger, intrigue and some eye-opening revelations!
I truly found this read to be excellent and riveting, even when one or more of the main characters drove me crazy! It’s hard to imagine how different cultures view marriage and even love, as well as the “duties” of each family member. Nothing wrong with tradition, but, the heart wants what the heart wants, providing everyone survives this incredibly detailed and well-written tale!
I received a complimentary copy from Anitha Perinchery! This is my honest and voluntary review.

Read the book to know more about the story.
The cover of the book is aptly designed and the title is totally relevant to the content. The plot of the story is interesting, engaging and relatable. It is a perfect blend of mystery, romance, love triangle, friendship, thrill and drama. The author has very well described the current issues like LGBTQ,organ trafficking, blackmailing etc. There are many subplots and these all are linked to the main plot.
Language used is simple and lucid. Characters are well developed and described by the author. She has penned down the scenic beauty of Goa perfectly. The only con of the book is it's length which is too much.
Overall, an amazing read.
Rating - 4/5
I recommend this book to all specially who loves to read romance thrillers out there.
I have read the author’s previous book One Monsoon in Mumbai, for which this book is an independent sequel. So I had a certain level of expectations for this book, and I am happy to say this book is way better than that. You can find my review of one monsoon in Mumbai here (https://www.goodreads.com/review/3567...).
Life is said to be a mixture of good and bad, happiness and misery. This book has it all: depths of despair to pinnacles of happiness. The story revolves around three central characters.
Anjali Joshi: A recently divorced single mother who is in Goa to solve problems with the family charity hospital. She runs into an ex who had left her 12 years ago without an explanation. Not even a Facebook message.
Rishi Rastogi: Anjali’s ex husband who is also a gay. His struggle with his sexual identity and his journey in the society which is slowly accepting the homosexuality. His aim is to re-marry Anjali to escape from a blackmailer, to impress his parents. To have some semblance of normality in his life.
Joe: Anjali’s ex boyfriend and Rishi’s ex flatmate. He is born into poverty to an irresponsible father He is desperately trying to impress his Princess and make up for the lost time.
There are so many minor characters who have their own stories, like Siddarth who happens to be both a lawyer and a doctor. Their friends Meenakshi, Gauri and Kokila.
The story runs in two parallel tracks, one set in present time and one during their time in college.
All this is clear to those who have read the description.
Now coming to review with no spoilers.
Things I loved:
Most of the gay characters I have seen are western, where they live in some fantasy world gays are easily accepted. And when they are not accepted, everything about their character will be their sexuality, kind of ironic. But this book doesn’t make that mistake, though Rishi struggles with his own sexuality and acceptance. That is not the only problem he faces.
India is not a land of dreams. That being said, if someone has the will to achieve their dreams, nothing stopping them. Joe has such will, and it is greatly inspiring to read his journey from lowly household to prestigious AIIMS and his downfall and his bounce back attitude.
We all assume rich kids don’t have problems. They would snap their fingers and all their problems go away, but that is not the case. Each and everyone of us has our own unique sets of problems and Anjali is no exception. From heartbreak to marrying a gay man to suicide attempt (One monsoon in Mumbai).
All these three characters have seen the worst of lives. They got blows after blows and their very being is shattered to unrecognisable small pieces. Yet they grew back into their familiar selves even better than before. None of them caught a break both major and minor characters and yet after 12 years later they are in the process of healing and it’s a great journey to watch.
Mystery and suspense:
This story has great suspense which only increases as we read. Though it’s a romance novel, it’s kind of Whodunit mystery as well.
Writing style:
Writing is very mature, and vocabulary is very rich. Once again, not even a misplaced comma.
Overall summary:
I generally don’t care about fictional characters, but this book made me care about its characters. So I would definitely recommend it.
BOOK: A Goan Holiday: Contemporary Fiction with a Romantic Bent (Indian Summer Book 2)
PAGES: 558 . The book basically based on 3 main protagonist Joe , Rishi & Anjali who all are medical students in AIIMS.A Goan Holiday is a perfect amalgamation of contemporary fiction that has romance, suspense and thriller twists. One of the main plots of the story - blackmail of the 2 medical students - Apparently its a legal tactic used by authorities, which was quite appalling to know. The book is quite interesting. It has it all, lov, hate, thrill, secrets, emotions that will keep you hooked till the end. 558 pages are worth reading. The characters are developed perfectly and each of them has a strong role. It's a contemporary fiction combined with Romance, Friendship, Drama and many more. U might think it's another love triangle book but this book has everything from romance to comedy to suspense which kept me hooked till the end. so a must read book for you all. Happy reading. BOOK : GOAN HOLIDAY AUTHOR : ANITHA RATING : ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5
I felt this book as a movie while imagining the story and reading it.
This story was a nice read coz its all about romance, friendship, thrill, suspense which will make your experience ultimately best.
The three extraordinary protagonist are Anjali, Joe and Rishi.
The story is proceeds saying that Anjali goes to Goa and there she meets Joe to whom she gradually falls in love with. There she also meets a friend who she lost 11 years back.
The book actually revolves around a big misunderstanding.
Rishi is saving himself from a blackmailer who is conntected with Anjali.
But why? What's the matter? Will he escape from this problem? If yes, then how?
And Joe on the other side who left Anjali in suspence is thinking that Anjali found the reason of leaving her.
What's the reason? What he wants to hide?
This is a very intresting story. I loved the classy cover and intriguing plot.Overall a refreshing good read. Happy reading !
The novel by Anitha Perinchery is a great work that told the story of love, friendship etc between a college fellows. Anjali, Joe, Rishi are the main characters. They were medical students, whose life was smooth till 2008 November. What happened there..!? They met again after 11 years.! Is that really a coincidence.!? Anything fishy!? There's a lot! It's a contemporary fiction deals with the happenings of the today's world, like illegal organ trafficking. Marriage, family, society etc are also a discussion here. It's a long that u won't feel bored. After each page, the reader would be eager to know what happens next.
Dark secrets. A family on the edge. Emotions and equations at the boiling point. There is a lot in "A Goan Holiday". The definition and dynamics of a relationship are undergoing unprecedented changes but that contribute to both the visual appeal and the element of intrigue in this complex yet interesting story.
Betrayal, heartbreak, blackmail, revenge and acceptance are at the centre of the book that powered by some strong characters in this tale. It drives the narrative of the book which works as a cautionary tale and even a thriller in parts. What is seemingly a straightforward tale that can be afforded many layers, with detailing. It may hit you closer than expected.
Coming to this book its an intresting and unique plot which is written very differently,in first sight it looks like a love triangle but it stores a lot for us. Story is full of suspense and mystery which keep me hooked through out and I'm completely enjoyed reading this book and story is so gripping and engaging that I cannot guess Who is plotting against Anjali and Rishi.characters are well described and developed, backdrop of Goa is the main highlight of the story.in my opinion book could be short because sometime people just scared of page count. Story is starting with when Dr Anjali joshi and his ex boyfriend Joe met in a restaurant after 10years all of a sudden because Joe disappeared 10 years ago during their MBBS and then she married Rishi her senior but why it's a secret.and then all three's name coming in an organ smuggling case and they don't have any idea how.Now they have to solve who is behind this and why was Joe disappeared? So you got to read this book know more. Overall a full on entertaining read .
The reappearance of an old boyfriend complicates the failed marriage of two physicians--and raises many ghosts from the past--in this romantic mystery.
For the first time in 11 years, Dr. Anjali Joshi finds herself back in Vagator in the coastal Indian state of Goa, where the famous beaches bring tourists from all over the world. She is here to check on her family's medical clinic, which has been attracting some rumors of criminality. While she's in town, Anjali goes on a blind date at the behest of a meddling cousin only to arrive at the restaurant and see Dr. Joe D'Acosta sitting at the table. Joe is Anjali's medical school boyfriend who disappeared from her life without a word 11 years ago--her last trip to Goa was to search for him only to hear that he didn't want to be found. Enraged at the sight of him, she storms off. Anjali is recently divorced from Dr. Rishabh "Rishi" Rastogi, Joe's old medical school roommate. Rishi used Anjali's family's political clout to protect himself from a blackmailer, but now that he is single again, the letters have begun to reappear, threatening to out him for a crime he committed many years ago. The return of the blackmailer causes Rishi to quit his job and rush to Goa to try to convince Anjali to forgive his past indiscretions and take him back. Meanwhile, Joe feels just as shaken by the blind date as Anjali and wonders what she knows about his disappearance: "The most important question of all was one Joe didn't dare ask: was there a chance she knew the real reason why he left Delhi, the terrible truth of what he'd done?" As both men attempt to win back Anjali while escaping the mistakes of their youth, she, too, seeks emancipation from the past--at least, the past as she understands it. The narrative leaps back and forth between two timelines: the present in Goa and the past when the three protagonists were still in medical school. Perinchery's prose is smooth and fluid, and it succeeds in capturing the muddled emotional states of her characters: "An Ambassador car waited at the entrance of the jetty. Joe hesitated only a second or two before stumbling into the backseat. If he tried to run, he wasn't gonna get far, and what the agent said about the criminals going after Joe's loved ones... he watched the streets fly past, not really seeing any of it." While there are some high-stakes happenings and big reveals, the book is essentially a three-part character study (with some supporting personalities as well). It feels long at over 500 pages--a slimmer novel would have more momentum--but the world and the characters are generally compelling. In addition to universal themes of love and betrayal, the author explores some particular South Asian concerns relating to marriage, gender roles, and familial expectations. The ending is perhaps a bit too neat, but those who have gotten that far are likely onboard with Perinchery's tidy brand of storytelling.
An engaging tale about a love triangle featuring doctors set in beautiful Goa.
3.45 Stars Joe & Anjali will be forever etched in my memory. Especially Joe !!
I don’t even know where to start. Obviously I loved Joe, I liked Anjali but I HATED RISHI ! He’s the most selfish person I have ever seen. The author has a talent of humanizing every character in her story. Like you see the good side and the bad side of the person, how their circumstances shaped them bla bla. So there were times when I was sympathetic with Rishi’s situation but most of the time I wanted to beat him crazy ! He’s a very cowardly man. He used Anjali for YEARS. In their marriage, Anjali did not benefit at all. He still had the audacity to cheat on her after everything she did for him for YEARS. He literally slapped her when she was asking for his phone and it was labeled as an accident… BFFR 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ I will never forgive him.
My poor Joe & Anjali ! They suffered a lot. I actually liked Joe the most in the book. He worked hard for himself and his siblings. He didn’t give up on them and his relationship with them was very sweet. I cried so much seeing him suffer. Like one mistake changed the trajectory of his life. I also cried when Anjali was frantically searching for Joe after he left. It was very painful to read. Like it gave me headache because I was crying so much. Anjali as a character was fine but nothing about her was worth noting. Like I really don’t remember what I felt about her when she & Joe were in a relationship and that’s saying something. The thing I didn’t like was her failing to see things from Joe’s perspective. Like his life changed when his stepmother died, he had to leave and take care of his siblings and still Anjali was more concerned about him not wanting her to go with him. Idk it screamed self-obsessed or something.
Other side characters were fine. I cried a lot during Nikhil’s death even though he wasn’t present in the book. I cried for Gauri & his friends.
The thing I loved the most about this book is the reality of it. Like it didn’t sugarcoat a love triangle or anything. But it showed how life has its own plans for each and everyone. How we should really try to understand the other person’s pov. How every single one of us is going through something and no one’s battle is smaller than the other. And a small little mistake can change our lives. There wasn’t much romance in it but idk I was fine with that.
The things I didn’t like about this book are also a lot. First and Foremost - RISHI. I hate that guy. Secondly, the back and forth between past and present is not my cup of tea, never has been, so I had to force myself into reading those for the first 50%. After that that’s when things got interesting. Thirdly, It was too long. It could’ve been shortened. Like too much unnecessary and repetitive information was not needed. Fourthly, the plot of the story. I will admit this book provided me with some interesting information about the organ smuggling. Something I have never heard in such detail but the main culprit was very obvious. So in that case, something better could’ve been done. Idk what but I cracked the mystery long before I reached the 90% mark.
I liked this book more than the first one and can’t wait for Siddharth’s book
🌿A Goan Holiday🌿 . This is a contemporary romantic tale based mostly in the outskirts of Goa! I considered it only romantic until I discovered that the book is an amalgamation of various genres and topics altogether. This one book felt like a series in itself, this is a standalone of 500+ pages which mainly focused on 9-10 characters. The book started in Goa with the current scenario where Anjali, one of the main protagonist of the main protagonist to be very honest is caught is motion with other characters like Joe and Rishi. But, fortunately the book is not only about these three it's about many more people! The book has a medical background, in short it's all like living a full length medical life with this book and the best part is set up in Goa, it makes it more trendy. To be very honest, the writing style seemed very trendy and familiar, now familiar because the book gave me some mysterious feels too! . To keep aside my opinions the book does has some original mysterious content, it bought the nostalgia back, mainly when I read Nothing Lasts Forever, the book has same kinda background where the protagonist are struggling with their life but on the other hand the book is divided into good heavy chapters but I read it in three major parts. Fortunately, from the very beginning the book started with the current situation which helped avoid a lot of chaos. This felt like a web series because the way it's narrated feels so real. The language is easy but I wish there were more twists. I loved how other genres were added. I love d the friendship between the characters. The places mentioned felt real, obviously they are but I honestly felt a part of the book. Though, it was long but wasn't dull at any point. The book got a little slower in mid but took the pace. . This is not a genre based book but it's a depth overview of each characters life, especially Anjali, I liked her more because she was the first one to grab my attention and keeping the impression till last. She is the way she is, unapologetic! In the frist part I found Rishi doing mushy sweet romance but in the later part as his image goes down, I found him more like a character used for story. The book is full of Hindi slangs, they are familiar and not vulgar. This was such a cool read which usually reminded me of a lot of things a once. I think everyone can read and relate. Every things under one roof made it a worthy read. The conclusions were worth to note. Definitely recommended go for it. Kuddos to the author for running multiple plots at times and making it look more like a movie than a book, a series to be clear. . Rating: 4🌟
This is a love story with a difference – and what a difference. Yes we have the usual rich girl meets poor boy – there are problems – they get separated – she gets married to someone else – and then he comes back no longer poor, but there it stops. And there is no holiday involved – so title is weird. In between we have all the issues that India faces culturally, socially and economically. Not to mention marriage between people of different races and religions and sexuality. This book covers all the above, plus! And the plus is what makes this story stand out – the plus being organ smuggling – although we don’t know that at the start – corruption of politicians, police and medical staff at all levels. We move across cultures as we go from Goa – just before and after the Portuguese leave their colony and the inter-racial and inter-religions marriages that led to, including skin colour – remembering that pale is ‘better’, and Goa’s reincarnation as a hippie destination for free love and drugs; to Mumbai which is not quite as liberal but is rich and urbane; to Delhi, which is neither rich nor urbane but very conservative in its values and mores. Delhi being the place where we recently heard of the terrible case where a girl on a bus was gang raped – girls on their own we/a/re seen as fair game – and we have that reflected here in the story with other women believing that a woman living alone, and having male visitors, is clearly running a brothel! Little things like this enhance the truth of the culture clashes between older India and modern India. India has many well educated women – and many Indian women here in the UK keep on taking degrees as, was confided to me once, their bridal value increases with a degree – and also it puts off the wedding! Which is still often arranged. I remember the bombing in Mumbai well. The Taj hotel that was bombed was one I had stayed at the previous year and a colleague of mine was caught up in the incident – he got shot but the bullet passed vital organs as it was deflected by his wife’s glasses case he had gone back to get! This is a true saga of India and its wide ranging problems that only got richer as the story progressed. So many issues covered in one book – almost too many but so well woven into the storyline that until you pondered the story you almost didn’t realise they had been addressed. However, a little editing of some sections would have helped as the book is long – (and for some readers too long), and it would have been sharper in its textual surfacing and elucidation. If you’ve been to India you will recognise the things you have encountered, if you haven’t you will be educated.
I really enjoyed this book, but I am going to start off by saying the summary is a bit misleading. Yes, everything it says may have been related, but that is not the main focus at all. Additionally, the summary reads like it will be a comedic book, which it most definitely isn’t, so fair warning. Also, it is not a love triangle or anything of those sorts (which I absolutely hate), so don’t let that deter you.
That all being said, I did really like the story and the fact that it is set in India and with Indian culture, which I am not as familiar with, was great. The plot follows the three main characters, Anjali, Rashi, and Joe as they meet in the city of Goan and are facing their messy pasts and trying to navigate their troubling futures.
One of my main goals for the month of August is for 50% of the books I read to be focused around POC, minorities, LGBTQ+, etc. and this book contained it all. As much as Indian culture is beautiful and colorful, it also saddened me with the amount of sexism, classism, and homophobia people still face. This is obviously not unique to India, but it never makes it any harder to read about or experience. I really commend the author for her approach to those topics.
My main problem with this book is too much of it was focused on the past. The book is written using a time warp style so it jumps back and forth between past and present. I have no problems with this style, but I really just wanted to know what was going to happen and it felt like the past scenes were extremely tedious and contained information that wasn’t always necessary for the plot. The book is in the mid 500’s for pages, so I think it could have done with some cutting. I admit, I did do a bit of skimming in those parts.
Overall, I did enjoy the book and would recommend it to anyone. It was great to read a book not about western culture, and add that too a plot with friends, family, drama, love, heartbreak, and Interpol poking around, you have one interesting story. This book is available on Kindle Unlimited.

Content - The book is about Anjali, Joe and Risabh. They are medical student and Anjali's first encounter with them was at the dissection class where Joe and Risabh were tutors. At first Joe appeared to be rude and egotistical but slowly they all became good friends and Anjali came to know that Risabh is gay which only Joe knew. Apparently Joe and Anjali fell in love and all were going quite well but suddenly Joe disappeared one day without any traces and after 11 long years Anjali accidentally met Joe in Goa when she went for a date. At present, Risabh is Anjali's husband with whom she is about to get a divorce and he also has arrived in Goa to meet Anjali. Amidst all these confusion, Anjali's Charity clinic comes under suspicion of being a front for unethical criminal activities. . What was the reason for Joe's sudden disappearance? Why Risabh wanted to meet Anjali again? Is there any criminal activities going on in Anjali's clinic? Read the book to know the whole story. 📖 📖 My Views - The book has romance, thriller, friendship, social issues, drama everything interwoven. The author firstly described all the medical life and terms really well. Social issues like LGBTQ and other Indian cultural issues are also given priority. The love triangle part is also not very cheesy and over the top. The mystery part of the story will keep the readers hooked till the end. The book is a lengthy one but the narration and the story telling is smooth and it will not bore the readers. The book is divided into chapters and so the transition between past and present is smoothly done. . The characters are well built and beautifully described and so is the Goan scenic and cultural part. Anjali is portrayed as a strong amd independent woman which is pleasing to read. The language is also lucid. . Overall a nice, enjoyable read.
A quick glance at the cover made me think of a spy book like something out of an Ian Fleming book. The story follows Dr. Anjali Joshi and two of her exes, Joe and Rishi. But this is not just a love triangle. Troubles begin when Anjali’s charity clinic comes under the suspicion of being a front for criminal activities. In the midst of all the troubles, both of Anjali’s exes want her back, but for reasons of their own.
With 558 pages, the book is quite a time investment but the narration will make the reading experience a bearable one. The author has not only narrated the story of the two friends but has also included Indian culture, politics and social structure and to my surprise, Interpol, into the weaving of the tale. Apart from the usual narrative of friendship, relationships and emotions, the mystery and the suspense of the story kept me hooked till the end. The book is indeed a wonderful blend of romance, drama and mystery.
The characterization of the protagonists has been effective in portraying their nature and the long story essentially provides character analyses in not so many words. There are different timelines to work with, different memories and flashbacks that when put together tell the complete story, without losing the thread of coherency. I am not a medical student but I have friends in the profession who have relayed their tales during those days. So, I can say that the medical life was grossly accurate in the telling. Goa was beautifully described. If I was to describe this book in TL:DR, I would call it a Roller Coaster Ride through a mysterious past of three medical students and the aftermath of obscure drama and alluring relationships.
A definite recommendation to all mystery and drama lovers.
FAB - BOOK REVIEW OF "A Goan Holiday: Romance and Drama and What-Might-Have-Beens.'' by Anitha Perinchery
Genre: Fiction (Contemporary Fiction)
Rating - 4/5
QOTD: A book that you would spare for your summer vacation reads?
"A Goan Holiday: Romance and Drama and What-Might-Have-Beens." by Anitha Perinchery. Ah, contemporary fiction after a freaking long time. This book is a very chill read for me. Yes, this book is too long, but I read it without boredom because it is a whole new vibe. One book you can read depends on the weather, being a choosy nerd, and like a book that you can read randomly. This book is that one kind that has all emotions packed in it and made into a beautiful piece of work and that has got its name as "Goan Holiday" just like the title has to Holiday in it, this book feels precisely that way! I am so damn crushing over the title and, yeah, the cover page of the book. The cover page of the book is cute and straightforward. Though I want to talk a lot about the title and the book's cover page, I should stop it because I am going gaga over them! This book is about our protagonist Dr.Anjali Joshi and her clinic, Joshi charity clinic situated in Goa. This book has all the situations which Anjali has to go through with Joe and Rishi. About how her past has ruined her present, which made her worry about her future. I don't like to reveal a lot of the story or the plot of this book to you because I want you to read this book with zero ideas. After all, once you get into the book, you will be connected to all the characters and have a great time reading it. The language is lucid, and the narration is perfect. This book consists of Humour, Love, Suspense in all the thrilling elements in it.
This is a romantic tale with a distinction rich girl meets poor boy they get problems in their life and like all they too get separated then life changes like and as life follows every giril get married likewise joshi also gets married to someone else then come the comeback of her x boyfriend but not like before how he was.
In the middle of we have all the issues that India faces socially, socially and financially. Also marriage between individuals of various races and religions all those sort of things which we heard and seen in most of the movies one can even get to see that too. Anjali goes on an arranged meeting at the command of an interfering cousin just to show up at the café and see Dr. Joe D'Acosta sitting at the table. Joe is Anjali's clinical school beau who vanished from her existence without a word 11 years prior
Rishi utilized Anjali's family's political clout to shield himself from a blackmailer, yet since he is single once more, the letters have started to return, taking steps to out him for a wrongdoing he submitted numerous years back. The arrival of the blackmailer causes Rishi to leave his place of employment and hurry to Goa to attempt to persuade Anjali to excuse his previous thoughtless activities and take him back. In the interim, Joe feels similarly as shaken by the arranged meet up as Anjali and considers what she thinks about his vanishing
The character depiction is finished. The portrayal is very decent. The language is solid and wonderful. The portrayal and utilization of Goan places made me love it much more.
Name: A Goan Holiday Author: Anitha Perinchery Rating: 4/5
The name of the book may seem pretty simple and you might get a travelogue kind of feel on reading it. However, I am hear to tell you that the book is not just about the holiday the protagonists spent in Goa. Instead, through the interesting pages of this book, the author tried to cover many important topics that actually need to be understood in this era.
The story is basically about 7 medical students and their life, focusing more on Rishi, Joe and Anjali. The life of a medical student is anyway a pretty tough one and earning a holiday is all the more difficult. However, it is not just only professionally that the protagonists suffer. It is also their past and present that make them feel unhappy. While at first Rishi and Anjali were married, now they are divorced. While Rishi is worried he made a mistake and tries to win Anjali back, Anjali is trying to deal with her own problems in the past. Later on in the story we can find that both men love Anjali and are trying to win Anjali’s heart.
The book is filled with surprise, suspense and love. It also talks about relationships and how people suffer during break-ups. The author has been able to write in such a way that helps readers jump between past and present easily. It feels like you are watching a series and not reading a book because the author has been able to write the book in a completely vivid way. The characters, the writing, the style all of them are worth it.
Even though it is a bit lengthy book, I would definitely suggest reading it. This is because despite the length, you will be forced to turn the pages to read it.

A Goan Holiday is a perfect amalgamation of contemporary fiction that has romance, suspense and thriller twists. The story revolves around Rishi, Joe, Farhan, Gauri and Anjali etc., who studies medicine in Delhi. This story traverses us to the next segment when Anjali has gone to Goa for a blind date. Everything changes from here and how the myriad of forms takes several shapes in and after eleven years once the protagonists meet again coincidentally. Read along to know why and where the rest of the story takes the readers to. Like from what is cooking inside and what traps Anjali into the endless basking of past and future with several engrossing events encountering Interpol, medical mafia and all. What ensues us more are the aspects of this story that’s scored well with the carefully chosen characters along with the different field and the preferences?
First of all, this story has a complex structure. Yet the authors made it very simple to read despite the contemplations of the diverse factors. Language is lucid with no jumbling of timelines. That is what exactly had maintained the plot very well and tied perfectly the loose ends here. Joe and Anjali are my favourites since they carried many surprise elements and added more charm to this. The narration did complete justice in weaving this tapestry of landscapes and the ocean. Title and the cover are quite appealing and enamouring, given its context. Overall, this is a cosy read as it amuses the readers well that devours the face of the commercial.
This is a contemporary fiction . Has a blend of genres like drama , suspense , thriller and the base is romance and sometimes to lighten up the heavy sides there is comedy . There are 41 chapters inked into 538 pages. Two timelines to be noted. It starts with female protagonist named Anjali whose closed ones have suddenly fixed her into a blind date on the beaches of holiday spirited goa. But was it actually a blind date or it was conspired ? Who does she get to meet and how things turn from there ? Is there a secret that is lingering for years ? The medical student life , a rich family background with millionaire early generations there is a smuggling , a Interpol case running side by side along with dramatic married life. There is extra marital affair , LGBTQ relation, Long holding of secrets , solving of mystery and finishing into a satisfying end . I liked Anjali's character she looks sift emotional but she is a lioness . Also with Joe , Farhan , Rishi this story showcases various shades of love and emotions of human heart , depth of heart to heart relationships and irrelevant social ways still prevalent in our Indian culture. There are other characters too who add more depth . Narration is catchy , has good flow more over I found the words used were crafty and effective. Only thing is the book has good length , I hope it gets published into physical one soon. Enjoyable , dramatic read that has many elements .
If i saw this book as a movie scripts or a web series with 41 parts( because this book have 41 chapters) in future believe me i never get shocked.
This book is a combination of contemporary fiction, Romance, thriller and drama and one my favourite friendship.

This book is start in goa with the one of the main protagonist named Anjali and her bilnd date which is fixed by her closed ones.
This book is a journey of medical students but best part of the story is based on goa. Though, its a medical journey and story of some friends but You will find blackmailing,Interpol connection and many more things which makes this book more interesting.
So know questions are- - what happened on November 2008. - who disappeared? - who is blackmailing and who is blackmailed? - why Interpol connection appear in this book?

TITLE - A Goan Holiday: Contemporary Fiction with a Romantic Bent AUTHOR - Anitha Perinchery
Have you ever heard about mysterious blind date? If no, this book is about that. Do grab and have a read.
A Goan Holiday is a comedy, romantic, thriller, mysterious and a blind date read. Rishi, Joe and Anjali and many more in their gang met as a medical students in Delhi. One terrible week in November 2008 changed everything. One of them from their chain disappeared, leaving the others confused and devastated. Coincidentally, after eleven years, they meet again in Goa. Anjali was stuffed with mysterious exes, nosy neighbours, the cops at her door, and a job she never expected for. To add some twist nostalgia and the comedy of When Harry Met Sally was added to the romance and drama of Brokeback Mountain with the social commentary of Anuja Chauhan's gorgeous stories.
This was a new quite simple different read. Having a blind date was something different and another concept narrated in this medical read. Friends who got separated and met coincidentally were managing their medical life unexpectedly. Author has framed one concept with different contents in it. To script a medical life is not so easy but author has put all her efforts to make the story beautiful. A beautiful place of beaches was well described. Characters were well maintained. Language was simple and lucid. Title and the cover perfectly matched the story. Overall it was a little lengthy read.
The book sharply focuses on friendship, love, frolics of college life , family matters, marriage spectacles, and other incidents like smuggling, illegal organ transplant and involvement of police and interpol. The story is about three friends; Rishi, Anjali and Joe, who happens to be medical students. Till 2008, Everything seems to be normal with their lives, until one of them goes missing, leaving everyone in suddenly, they meet again in Goa after eleven years.
Give "A Goan Holiday" a try to know the aftermath, to engulf yourself in roller-coaster journey filledwith mixed emotions.
The book has summerized all the elements like romance, drama, thriller etc. flawlessly. The author has neatly described the beauty of Goa and it's monumental places, specially the unmatched Vagator beach. Now after reading all these I am really craving to visit Goa once again. Each character in this book is well described, in an unique manner. Their persona has ensued so perfectly in every situation. The antagonists, protagonists, their pausity, triumphed moments all are well delineated in 14 parts and 41chapters. Each part is well distributed with 3 chapters without losing the touch and maintaining the coherency, which I think is a rare and awesome representation. Loved the character of Siddharth though. Looking forward to read his story as well.
Really enjoyed this masterpiece. I recommend this book to every bibliophiles.
