Camilla Jackson hasn't quite found her niche in life yet, but she hasn't stopped looking. Along the way, her adventures in working, life, and romance are a painful, humorous, and heartwarming. I enjoyed this romantic comedy that begs the reader to laugh with it and not take it too seriously.

Camilla is humiliated and emotionally bruised as she leaves her job at the law firm. What will she do now? With an incomplete education in law, no real marketable skills, and a tendency toward unforeseeable accidents, work will be hard to come by. A job is a must. She could live at home with her family, but the pitying disappointment from her parents and smug snarky teasing from her sister are not worth it. Camilla has enjoyed living on her own in her little apartment even if it comes with a pervy old man neighbor.

Right, so first things first. Pity party with the besties and then a brief, but fateful encounter with a handsome hottie in the park. But the hottie wore a ring and it's time to earn some money. Pet shop? Why not! But no, that didn't take long. Waitress, well alright. And there she encounters Mr. Carter Evans, investigative journalist and grieving widower again. Only this time, he asks her out. And Carter doesn't see her as a misfit and failure. If only he can let go of his past.

Life is interesting working at a hair salon (Yep, she's done it again), helping Carter interview and investigate a local high profile kidnapping, and working on a relationship. Is Carter right? Or will she blow it again?

This was a light, fluffy story that was a fast, engaging read. I felt sorry for poor Camilla and her mishaps even as I chuckled over each mess she got into without even trying. She's giving and well-meaning so it makes it easy to cheer her on. Her dilemma of not quite having come into her own when surrounded by friends who are already settled makes her endearing. The romance with Carter was quick, but I did love seeing her help him heal and make him laugh again while he gave her confidence because he liked her just the way she is. They are a passionate pair, but the author teased things out and didn't have them tumbling into bed too soon. The mild suspense plot was a nice touch to make things interesting.

All in all, this was fun and a nice distraction for a hot summer afternoon. Those who enjoy romantic comedy, light contemporary romance or cozy mysteries should take a look at this one.

My thanks to the author for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is a cute romantic comedy with strong characters and an entertaining story line. The author does a great job describing her scenes in detail and had me laughing out loud throughout the story. I loved Camilla's character as well as Evans for standing by her. It's well written , moves quickly and smoothly and I enjoyed reading.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.

I have mixed feelings about this story. It was well written and had a very intriguing plot but I struggled to feel a strong connection to the characters, especially Camilla. The humor seemed a bit forced like the author was trying too hard.

Overall, it was still a good story but I enjoyed other books by this author so much more.

***** Another Winner!

This author’s works never fail to keep the pages turning, whether it be because I get involved with her romantic story and the people involved, the snappy, funny dialogue and prose, or the sudden twists and turns that I’m not expecting. Well, this book has it all––which made for hours of delightfully funny, OMG what just happened? and what a truly emotional and sexy romance! reading.
Camilla Jackson is absolutely adorable and funny. Carter Evans, the hunky love of her life, caring and touching, and her one-after-another bout with new employment disasters had me in constant stitches. Add a touch of mystery and danger and you got yourself a great read!

I would give this book a 4.5 if I could. The only reason I'm not giving a 5, is because I normally do not read romance, so I don't have much to compare. With that said, I keep returning to this author. I found myself thinking of my first few jobs and how terrible I actually was at almost everything I tried. I had to laugh at the situations the young Camilla found herself in, even though she was willing to give anything a try.
A light-hearted story, that made me laugh with a touch of scariness and some smoking hot sex, all wrapped up in one delightful book. Keep up the writing Melinda, as I enjoy your books.

I’m starting to really love Melinda De Ross’s writing style. The fun, flirty, hilarious characters mixed with serious situations and romantic love stories. This female lead is clumsy, funny, upbeat, and falls head over heels in love with one sexy reporter, then she manages to get quite literally swept up into a story he’s working on. Perfect and entertaining as hell love story that will make you laugh and pull on your heartstrings. I definitely recommend this one.

Loved reading this Rom-Com romance about bumbling Camilla Jackson who is trying her hardest but seems nothing goes right in her life and Carter Evans a crime journalist. This ARC was a cute romantic story that had me grinning, laughing and swooning as I read this story. I found this romantic story was well written and that I "loved" the characters - Camilla and Evans along with Camilla's friends who knew what a klutz she was but still supported her, in this ARC from a new author I totally enjoyed reading.

I'm afraid that this book didn't "do it" for me. The story was ok, felt a little strained at times and disjointed at others. The writing was very much in the style of someone who's first language is not English and so I found it quite tiring to read. Not my cup of tea, but obviously others liked it.

Maybe 1.5
I really didn’t see much of the romance stuff. I don’t really think someone could be ‘too’ clumsy. Felt unrealistic.

With an unusual title like The Job Blower, I was certain this book would stand out from others I've read. As usual,Ms De Ross didn't disappoint. I laughed so hard in places, I cried. The imagination it takes to create scene after disaster-filled scene is incredible, and the descriptions allowed you to visualize our poor heroine either facing down an exhibitionist or a potential lover. The story kept me involved right to the end.
