Who knew you could treat common illnesses with a quick pressure of fingers on body points? By using Jin Shin, the ancient Japanese practice of self-healing touch, the author says you definitely can.

HEALING AT YOUR FINGERTIPS offers simple illustrations and instructions on how to address 80 familiar ailments, such as back pain, insomnia, migraines, anxiety, and more. The technique works by unblocking or redirecting body energy to reduce pain and boost healing.

Skimming through, I tried several “holds” to stop pain in my right wrist, elbow and shoulder from iPhone overuse, I felt instant relief and slept well last night. I’m a believer!

This book was short and succinct. I had never heard of the technique being used, which is called Jin Shin and involves laying hands on certain parts of the body to relieve symptoms. I would have liked more examples of this technique working from the author besides the story of her helping her mother with bowel issues. The rest of the book is examples laid out by body issues of where to put your hands to heal or help your issues. The techniques seem easy to do but I wonder about their effectiveness because the way the process was described did not give me much encouragement that there is any science or reason behind it. Still, although I am skeptical, I will be trying some of the techniques because it would be a cost free way to minimize aches and pains. Thank you to the author for sharing with the world!

'Healing at Your Fingertips' is a guide on the obscure art of Jin Shin, a Japanese healing method of touch. There are 80 conditions that can be treated with this book which involves gentle touching of different points on the body, similar to acupressure (but different) to redirect and unblock the flow of energy.

This book focuses only on the practical application using diagrams and simple instructions on where to touch. It does not contain any information about the history of this technique, its popularity, its efficacy, or how long and how often the touching should be done. I would have liked an explanation about how energy gets blocked in the first place and any potential risks involved with this modality.

I have tried some of the holds but because there is no information on how often it needs to be done or for how long, I can't say if it was successful for me.

I don't doubt that Jin Shin works, but the author who is president of the Jin Shin Institute, is clearly very adept at this technique and needs to include more background information about it...otherwise, it appears to be a very basic picture book on acupressure.

I am very intrigued by it and will definitely research it further.

This was a short and easy read of a quick introduction of the art of Jin Shin. I would have liked to see detailed illustrations of the “Safety Energy Locations,” though there are descriptions, I feel the descriptions alone are inadequate especially since this book is an introduction. I think a person would be more comfortable in beginning their practice of Jin Shin (based on this book) if diagrams of the SELs were included. The illustrations and descriptions of the “symptom” part of the book are pretty and straight-to-the-point. These would be perfect if the SELs were detailed earlier in the book but because if their absence, the “symptom” diagrams just are detailed enough. Overall, I am pleased that I took the time to read and look through this book as I had not previously been aware of Jin Shin. I look forward to reading more on the subject in the future.

I wanted to read this book because I have another book on trigger points that were extremely helpful. After reading all the good reviews I was hopeful this book would provide some relief for my fibromyalgia.

I found this book to be a disappointment. None of the treatments made a difference to me.

If you decide to get the book, I would recommend getting a hard copy instead of an electronic book. It was difficult to flip back and forth through the book. I felt I needed to bookmark the safety energy locations chapter and flip back to it when you are trying a technique. Diagrams and photos would have helped to explain the different locations on the body. The photos used for the treatment of each symptom were just black silhouettes. They were not close-up views or very detailed.

I received this galley from NetGalley.

Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for my digital copy in exchange for an honest review.

This book turned out to be EXACTLY what it says it is. :) Who knew? The entire book was literally pictures of people healing themselves with only their fingertips. This book is a guide on the art of Jin Shin, a Japanese healing method of touch. The book goes on to illustrate 80 conditions that can be treated by using this healing power that involves a gentle touching of different key points on the body, which aids in the unblocking of energy. Once the energy is unblocked, you can redirect the flow simply by using your fingertips. This was a pretty clear guide on how to help yourself with some basic aches and pains(along with the common cold and other issues) without having to go to the Doctor. I thought it was very interesting and it might come in handy one day. :)

As a companion to Brink's previous book, The Art of Jin Shin, this is a very handy and helpful reference to holistic treatments aimed at unblocking the flow of energy in the body. As a stand-alone book, there isn't quite enough guidance to really do it right, I don't think, though I did try a few of the treatments, and I could feel the energy flowing in my body. There are written descriptions of the "Safety Energy Locations" (SELs, sort of like pressure points), but a chart showing them would've been helpful. Fortunately, Google exists, and charts are easy to find! If you're interested in Jin Shin, do yourself a favor and get both of Brink's books, you won't be sorry!

I really enjoyed reading this book! When I was in massage therapy school I learned the basics of Jin Shin Jyutsu and it was amazing. I really loved this book, but only gave it 4 stars as the pictures are a little too basic. I would love to see a detailed picture of each of the 26 Safety Energy Locks in the beginning. I would also love to see the pictures with the holds show a little more detail so you know exactly where to hold the point. It would also be helpful to give the reader an idea of how frequently they can do these holds and for how long. If this information was included, it would easily be a 5/5 review.

Wow, I really enjoyed this book! I’ve done yoga over the years but when I first heard about Jin Shin it sounded a little intimidating. I’m really glad I found this book—it was a really clear and simple introduction and I was able to address the pain in my lower back immediately! 2020 gave me anxiety issues I’ve never had before and I’m so happy to have found this book that I feel like I can just reference and find immediate relief. Thank you thank you! Can’t wait to send to my friends and family!

Interesting book. The Art of Jin Shin is a Japanese healing practice that utilizes your fingers/hands to redirect the flow of energy for everything from anxiety to migraines.
I enjoyed it. I think it would be a good reference book. I thought the visuals and descriptions could have been more elaborate-they were a tad cartoonish.

Taking a different approach than the normal books with the same theme, this one offers guidance instead of rules. It gives you ways to use what's inside to balance your thoughts, feelings, and energy.

For those seeking the love of any kind, you must start with yourself without seeking outside first. You can't truly know what you desire without knowing yourself first.

Thank you Goodreads, author and publisher for my free copy. This was a super quick read with easy to follow instructions. I am looking forward to trying Jin Shin. I will refrain from offering a rating as I would like to have a few days to try the holds described in the book and see how that goes first.

The book looks beautiful and the diagrams and descriptions are easy to understand, but I found when I used one of the hand positions to relieve a symptom nothing happen. So, I don't know if I held the position long enough or if I'm just not aligned with this practice.

This is a quick and easy to follow guide with helpful pictures, but there is not enough introduction to the author or Jin Shin in my opinion. This is for someone who already practices Jin Shin, not for a person interested in learning the basics of it.

This book is based on the energy medicine called the Art of Jin Shin. The author describes the practice as being similar to acupuncture without needles. She does an excellent job explaining this concept and the book would be perfect if there was a diagram for the safety energy locations (SELs).

I am always on the hunt for books that will make me feel better holistically. I am amazed at this type of energy work and surprised I have not come across it before now. I did all the exercises in the book and can see this becoming a part of my daily routine. If you are looking for different ways of self-care, this is a wonderful place to start.
