Lance Erlick writes science fiction thrillers for adult and young adult readers. In 2018, he launched his Android Chronicles novels with Reborn and continued it with Unbound and Emergent. This series follows the challenges of Synthia Cross, wrestling with the download of a human mind and emergent behavior while confronted by humans who seek to control her. In the Rebel series, Annabelle Scott faces a crisis of conscience after she’s drafted into the military to enforce laws she believes are wrong. The Regina Shen series takes place after abrupt climate change leads to Collapse and a new World Federation. As an outcast, Regina must fight to stay alive and help her family while she avoids being captured. Xenogeneic: First Contact is about aerospace engineer Elena Pyetrov’s struggles with alien pilgrims determined to take over Earth.
This was a fun and short read. It isn't what I usually read but I have another book resolution for 2020..go outside my comfort zone. So I did!
This is a quick short story that is evidently part of a series with a man creating a female Android that he is hoping can assist him in his illegal activities as well as love him like a human being. (Not to much to ask for right?)
However, problems arise as his android starts to feel humility and compassion as well as a variety of human emotions..which should not be happening but is. Alot happens in this short story.
I enjoyed it wholeheartedly so I can imagine if one is big into Science Fiction, which I am not, they might love it. I do not know if I liked it enough to read other books in the series. I am trying to figure that out. But I absolutely enjoyed this one and became quite fond of our android who seems smarter and kinder then many humans! She was great fun to read about and I would recommend this to fans of Science Fiction.
Android Chronicles : Origins by Lance Erlick is a short story about the rival between two inventors and an android that one of them made. The android was having trouble with the ethics in which the Creator was handling the conflict. Good start to series.
This is a quick-hit short story that is good for a Saturday afternoon – while very short, I could see this one as a foundation for a longer story. I picked this up for free during a Kindle promotion vs. its normal price of 99 cents and certainly received more than 99 cents worth of entertainment value. If you’re looking for something to read during your lunch break or a quick read and enjoy science fiction, give this one a try.
I decided to read this after reading "Trial," though this story comes before "Trial" as part of the origin story of Synthia, the android. My favorite part of this tale is that it opens with her male creator fretting because the size of her brain interferes with his shaping her appearance.
Origins has potential, but it is only a short story. The Android Synthia is pressed by her Creator into doing things that even she as an android knows are unethical. Her Creator is obsessed not only with protecting her as his creation, but also with her as a potential companion. The author tries to cram too much into the 37 pages, and that causes the story to stumble.
A brief introduction to a multi part story that begins to explore what a sentient android may go thru as it develops. Somewhat hampered by its builder the thought processes and conflicts are interesting and may be a preview of what could actually happen in the future.
Android Chronicles: Origins is a good short story to read when you're still looking for a full size novel. I have always liked stories about robots and androids and this did not disappoint. The story was good and thought provoking. The only disappointment was it was too short. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a short read.
This is the origin story background for a trilogy called The Android Chronicles. It was a series I really liked a lot. This is more of a short story than a book.
Too short to be a short story and also too incomplete to be a story ! A possibly good first chapter, but not enough material to make it worthwhile to buy the next 'book'.
A good quick read. What do you do when your creator wants you to commit crimes? Interesting take on the human condition through an android with morals.
This was a fun, short read. I was looking for a book about robots and AI, and this novella hit the spot. I enjoyed the author's writing style and appreciated that this story didn't have a ton of filler. I wasn't able to get fully invested in the story, however, and some aspects of the plot were very predictable.
