Two families mourning. Two mysterious murders. One innocent florist whose floral arrangements are the common denominator at the scene of the crimes.
When Tracy's floral store is commissioned to supply the arrangements for two funerals, she's humbled to be entrusted with the responsibility. She reluctantly puts up with the rude behavior of an old lady who manages the affairs of one of the deceased, a well-known philanthropist in Fern Grove.
When this old lady dies at the funeral, no one suspects foul play. After all, she was old and frail. However, the subsequent murder of another close member of the family, sets alarm bells ringing.
Could both deaths be linked?
Tracy is left bewildered and enraged when handsome detective Copeland suggests that her daisy arrangement was the one piece of evidence found at both murder locations. The stakes are further raised when the fortune of the deceased is revealed. It seems almost everyone associated with the dead aristocrat is a person of interest.
Is there a killer at large disposing of anyone associated with the deceased? Can peace be restored to one of the oldest families in Fern Grove? Will Tracy ask the right questions to expose the murderer or become the killer's next victim?
If you want to enjoy a light-hearted read, with an amateur female sleuth and a gripping murder mystery with a touch of romance, then you'll love Tracy Adams and all the friendly and not-so-friendly characters in Fern Grove.
No cliffhanger, swearing or graphic scenes!

Tracey has learned you have to put up with a lot of kooks when working in a flower shop she runs along with her aunt. Then the kooks seem to drop dead while at separate funerals. Was it a coincidence or were they murdered? I loved reading this book and trying to figure out the answers. I enjoyed the closeness between the three women at the shop. They make for a unique family. This series seems to get better with each book!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Audible was how I heard this. I have listened to many Books, you enjoy it not. The the Voice was just right for this Cozy Mystery she surprised me as I was quietly knitting a small bunny when suddenly the Voice changed. Wwhaatt? It was neat once I regained my bearings and corralled my yarn back from the dog. She went into a deeper voice for a man. Certainly got my attention. I was paying attention, but it did re engage me perhaps a tad more fully we can say. Kudos! Fern Grove is where you will find your yourself with Aunt Rose Bishop in her floral shop named 'In Season'. Tiffany her assistant, and now her niece Tracy who recently joined them. Tracy Adams just lost her fabulous very high paying job and came home to Fern Grove, meaning Aunt Rose and working with her at 'In Season '. Tracy had a big idea to 'change things ' at the shop by featuring a Flower-of-the-month . She insists it will bring in more customers to look and see what flower it is and what they are doing with it. They just chose the Daisy, finalized all the details, when a customer walked in. Ellen a sweet lady clearly very distressed, wanting to plan a floral arrangements for her beloved of his entire life, faithful always, forever loving. She couldn't say enough, clearly so much LOVE between them, Waldorf. Tracy went on about the Daisy and it's symbolic meanings. She wants the arrangement to be dog shaped. Wwwhhaatt? Yes, my friends-Dear Waldorf is her beloved wiener dog. Hahah teach some one better sales questions The door just closed when storming in comes Stella Rockwell raging that she needs to have the best flowers. Spare no expense! For her former employer 'The Augustine Waldorf' from the richest family in town. Now she was the former nanny to their girls, who are all fully grown. Hhmm.Well once nasty rude Stella finished raging at everyone, assured her special orders all set, our she stormed. Ok, so you and I pretty much think we have this ALL figured out right? Well .. Maybe, kind of a wee bit. Then let me tell YOU that's it. No more. Two vans were loaded with flowers one driven by Tracy the other by Tiffany to funeral sites. When each opened they were surprised to see the WRONG Flowers in each van. Tracy had a shocked Look on her face and reliazed she had wiener dog flowers at Me Waldorfs funeral. Too late but Stella saw and came charging over.... I will STOP here :-) because this is a wonderful place to spring board you into the next phase of a multitude of things happening. Hints -> Someone will drop dead, a handsome detective enters to point a finger at flowers, a strange man shows up, we meet several more interesting folks and have to figure out if any of them are important or have no purpose in addition to Mr Waldorfs daughters. So much to do. Several murders to solve. Good luck ENJOY. I was given the Audible to listen to It has Nothing to do with my review at ALL.
All since Tracy moved to Fern Grove to help her Aunt Rose with her flower shop, there have been a few murders. I'm guessing Tracy is bad luck or it's all a coincidence. Oh! Oh! Or maybe the readers of this series are to blame, because we needed reading material and the only way for a mystery series to happen was for people to die! Nah, that can't be it. 😉
This did indeed have a murder, or two, and potentially 2 more. The culprit was headed toward a killing spree! I admit I was tricked and although I had a few suspects in mind, I was still a bit surprised when the killer was actually revealed.
This is a cute little shorts stories series (I name anything close to 100 pages long a short story). I very much enjoy the sometimes playful, but close knit relationships amongst Tracy, Rose, and Tiffany. So sweet and makes me smile when they interact.
I'm also excited to see if there is a blossoming relationship between Tracy and Detective Copeland, because love is what helps sell me on a book being that much better!
The Fern Grove Cozy Mystery series has potential and I encourage the author to continue it. The main characters could become interesting people that cozy mystery lovers would want to spend time with. That, time, brings me to my disappointment with this book. There is enough plot to have made this a good mystery, but the book is too short to do the plot justice, in my opinion. Also there is a stiltedness to the language in the book, that a good editor or maybe even an English teacher could improve. I think that with more time spent in writing, rewriting and plot and character development there may very well be a pleasant reading experience in this series future. I will try the series again but can only recommend it to those readers who don’t want to concentrate and just want to relax.
In Season has to provide flowers for two funeral the same day both with the name Waldorf. One of them the funerals is for a beloved family pet, and the other is for a wealthy man. Of course, the trucks with the flowers got mixed up and and went to the wrong funeral. While Tracy and Aunt Rose were fixing the mix up, Stella, the governess, died. It looked like a heart attack, but was it murder? Read this compelling book and find out! Happy reading! 😊
Audiobook: I enjoyed this second book as much as the first book in the series. I felt for Tracy when the flowers for the two different funerals were mixed up, and she had to face the fallout from the mistake. I followed the twists and turns looking for clues to help figure out the culprit. I appreciated the humor. I thought Jeannette Smith's narration was great, and her performance kept my attention. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.
One Daisy and Two Crazy Funerals (Fern Grove #2)), my third read from author Abby Reede. Well-written & enjoyable. a cute, clean cozy mystery with well-developed characters and detailed settings. I look forward to reading White Lily and a Fatal Chili (Fern Grove #3). I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reading & reviewing it. Narrator Jeannette Smith's narration adds to the book's enjoyment. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
The mystery is pretty bare bones. Just like the first one, it feels like it was randomly solved in a rush at the end. Usually you pick up on a clues, and it didn't feel like that much here. I bought all of them as a collection, so I'll likely finish them, and I'm hoping they get better.
I do like the characters, but it definitely has some issues of depth. Which it is a cozy, but many cozies have more depth.
Abby Reede's characters live in an unassuming little town, and after the demise of the owner of their competition is found deceased, Tracy's Aunt Rose finds her flower shop becomes the only flower shop in town. A mixup on a flower arrangement for two funerals starts a feud, a mystery, and a death. Who will be next?
In Season is the Fern Grove florist provider. They are asked to provide for two memorial services, one for a beloved family dachshund named Waldorf, and one for the Waldorf family patriarch. This leads to two murders, and Tracy is soon involved. A very interesting story.
Another great story in the Fern Grove cozy mystery series. Same great characters. This installment focuses on a well-to-do family full of secrets, turmoil, and death. Twists and turns, suspense, a loveable cat, and Fern Grove residents doing their best to run a quaint flower shop and keep themselves out of trouble!!
Another “didn’t see that coming” ending. Loving the chemistry between Detective Copeland and main character Tracy. Aunt Rose and Tiffany are great secondary characters. The setting of Fern Grove is delightful- certainly a small town but with its share of the upper crust as well as the middle class. Looking forward to the next installment of the series.
Two bodies called Salford both use In Season for the funeral flowers. They get mixed up in the rush to get them their on I time. At the first internet their is no trouble but as murder overshadowed the second. The flower shop staff are instrumental in solving all the mysteries that turn up.
Abby Reede has a a wonderful series in her Fern Grove Mystery series. Tracy keeps you wondering just what is going to happen next...so, you end up not being able to put the book down until you have finished it!
Intetesting turns in the events of funerals and flowers. Deaths..natural or otherwise can cause unsettling feelings...good and bad. But is the killer who you think it is? It was for me, but will it be for you?
Even though i cant write a stitch and can barely come up with a story line i have to say this book was just awful and not worth the read.. its a cozy mystery yes but barely any mystery... where's the investigation? It started slow and ended to quickly ..again not worth the read
This story is slightly insane. The characters are delightful, but the insanity of mixing two funerals flowers than finding another dead body at the funeral is just two much insanity. Although our flower shop girls seem to take it all in stride. This story is funny and brighten my day.
Two families mourning. Two mysterious murders. One innocent florist whose floral arrangements are the common denominator at the scene of the crimes. Okay.
Rating: G No cliffhanger, swearing, or graphic scenes!
I liked this book. The main characters are fun and believable, the plot easily followed, and the ending very satisfactory. I recommend this book for any of the people who enjoy cozy mysteries.
Any mention of hard work within a flower shop can be backed up by the in-laws. That aside, this is part of an enjoyable series. Great for back porch reading.
