Anna L. Henry writes steamy, sexy and short romances with an over-the-top alpha who dedicated to protect and love their women. She always loves to hear from her readers and interact with them.
This was a really good read and this is a new author to me but I will be reading more from her in the near future.
Anabelle Landers has lived in her apartment complex for two years and is taking over as the President of the tenants association and its big a job she’s taking on lightly. What she wasn’t expecting was to literally be knocked odd her feet by Joshua Gentles one of the new tenants, he’s everything a curvy girl like her shouldn’t be lusting after, he’s so gorgeous but the way he looks at her makes her think he could be interested. But being burned once by a man has made her wary of trusting, can she put her faith in Joshua or she just heading in to heartbreak?
Joshua Gentles and his brother are opening a new twenty four hour gym with a difference all they have to do is get everything moved in to the new apartment complex and they’ll be ready to start living the dream. However when he meets his new neighbour he realises there is part of the dream missing. Can he convince Anabelle to give them a chance or will she continue to push him away?
Good read and definitely worth a go this author I think is quite new but this is a good start to a series. 3.5 🌟 read.
Joshua and his brother are in the process of moving into a new apartment together when he stumbles into Annabelle, his neighbor while carrying a big box. Annabelle was the president of the tenants association and wanted the other tenants to be included in the Christmas holiday festivities. Joshua and his brother decided to help out as well as a lot of the other tenants and when they all singed up for what they wanted to do, she found herself working closely with Joshua.
Annabelle had been hurt, emotionally in the past from guys who looked like Joshua. So when he turned on the charm she had her walls up and tried not to fall for him even though he seemed like he really liked her and wanted to get to know her better.
As they got to know each other more and more, they realized that they liked one another. Joshua was always looking for reasons to be with her, not that she minded. These two were so cute together. I liked both of them right from the start. This was a short novella and a quick read but I really enjoyed the story. It did need some proofreading as I found a few mistakes but I'm not going to deduct stars for that
Bad Memories can take you into a tailspin before you know it and that is what a flirting sexy as hell Joshua did to her. He is her new neighbor along with his brother, Marlon. It is equally as sexy but Joshua has that spark. Well, she was thrown back to high school when she was an extra settled about her weight until Brian shook her foundation. At fifteen the new boy had taken a liking to her. But, only in secret. He wanted to keep it under wraps, he said. For her protection but really for his own reputation. So, she thought for sure when this important dance at school came around, he was going to ask her. Telling everyone they are a couple and she waited but nothing. So, the next day she goes to the table where he sat with his friends. She confronts him. He proceeds to degrade her as he has everyone laughing at her. He beat her down. After playing sick the rest of the week and it took a while but by the school fair after a week of trying to apologize, he walks up to her side as if old friends. She stops he asks to talk to her. She gives him back his own harsh words he spits out to her basically, sorry have we met? Not looking up from the donut box, long enough, to introduce myself it’s hard to tell. Then, she walks away. Now, her instant chemistry with Josh scares her is he’s wanting her for her. Or is there something else. It might be he was heavy in school too and weight really doesn’t matter or he’s just a big guy who likes larger women. In any case, he wants her. Loved all the community coming together, the closeness of the brothers, Petra, and Belle’s friendship and the courtship Josh and she have. I give this: 5 stars. Free on Amazon. I thought this was a book when I got it. It had a good plot, totally ruined because this must have been written for a different audience of readers. This was nothing but smut. Instead of an enlightened book with some folks liking "chubby girls" with brains. This turned into a fantasy of sex scenes between the two of them. Short & graphic, this was 74 pages of yuk. DNF
Note - I picked this up in the “Clean Romance” category but I would consider His BBN a somewhat steamy, lite HEA romance instead - not a Clean Romance.
This was my first A Henry novel(la). It read quickly and both the main characters were likable. His BBN follows the “opposites attract” trope. The FMC, Annabelle Landers is a post college, large sized woman confident in her abilities both personally and in her career. As most people, she has past baggage she’s had to deal with but for the most part it seems to have made her smarter and stronger rather than bitter or reclusive. Joshua Gentiles, the MMC, may have had his own personal history but it isn’t mentioned, nor do we see the development of his new career/business. Joshua comes off as the confident “body perfect” guy “every woman would love” which caused me to expect the worst from him. ;). I enjoyed the novella His BBN more than I thought I would - after discovering the MMC “type” and switching my expectations from a “Clean” read.
I actually might have rated His BBN a 3.5 **** rating but there are editing/post writing issues - the spacing in this novella is odd. Rather than normal paragraph spacing, it seems perhaps a writing program was used that randomly created new paragraphs - sometimes in the middle of sentences, during conversations, or simply randomly. The paragraph breaks are not where they would normally fall which is quite distracting and makes it difficult to stay focused and in the story. Secondly, there are odd word choices, phrases, POV/pronouns and grammar that I believe could have been omitted/corrected with a good beta team or post readers who independently looked for such issues and notified the author so she could correct them. As His BBN reads now, unfortunately, these 2 issues break the flow of the book. With a little more editing, His BBN could improve its rating. IMO it is still a fairly good light reading HEA, it just doesn’t come off as professionally finished.
His BBN is a quick reading (under 2 hours) somewhat steamy, lite contemporary romance novella with a HEA. It works well for that quick de-stress read before bed, or during a short segment of time. There aren’t any on-scene sexual situations but the 2 main characters do fantasize about such, making this a rather steamy (3.5 rating or so) read on a 0 to 5 scale, IMO. Occasional profanity is present. There is no violence. I do not recommend His BBN to young readers or to those who might be offended by the aforementioned.
I received His BBN through a discounted author offer, yet my opinion in this review is mine alone.
The idea for the story was delightful, and I even liked Anabelle and Joshua, and Marlon and Petra! If there had been some solid proofreading I would have given this story 4 to 5 stars, but the abysmal editing errors drove me nuts! The perspective would change constantly, sometimes in the same sentence! Is it supposed to be 1st person or 3rd person? Petra comes from a traditional Italian family that immigrated from Italy when Petra and Anabelle were in school, yet her surname is Collins? Or was that just another editing error, too? The errors became distracting, making the story difficult to finish.
This was the story that could have been extremely wonderful . Throughout the story it hinted at being hot and steamy With a disappointing ending . The only reason Debbie ending was disappointed was because it goes from hot and steamy during the raid 2 in extremely Dugger'esk ending . This was a likable story but in great need of editing. I would have rated it higher but there were so many times I had to stop to think about what the author meant to say, rather than what was written.
A very sweet, romantic short story that could use some more editing regarding English grammar to make a smoother flow for the reader. The story itself was good and the characters were interesting.
I voluntarily received an advance review copy of this short story from the author and I am leaving an honest and unbiased review. I have no affiliation to this author.
I greatly enjoyed this book. I am looking forward to reading more of her books. I was a little confused with the use of him and I or her and my in one sentience. Also the use of persons instead of people but I did fine getting through the book. I hope that two others in the book will get their story and a HEA.
The story was good but there was too much descriptions of minutia, like an exhaustive retelling of the tenant meeting, the details of the decorations. None of that really progressed the story as much as more succinct explanations would have. Thats my main gripe. Also the lead up to their dating was a lot more interesting than the ending
I enjoyed this story greatly but found some of the wording odd in relation to the story line. The characters were good, drawing from each other and brought the theme together well.
Really cute story, the characters were likeable and it was a quick read. There were some grammar issues that frustrated me because it jarred me out of the story so I could figure out what the sentence was supposed to be.
Very sweet story about the curvy and confident girl who gets the hot guy. But not because she wins him over. This hottie finds this curvy girl beautiful right from the start. It's a nice quick read with some real fun secondary characters as well.
First, I'd recommend this book to any girl who thinks she's an underdog. I have this book five stars for excellent writing and a sweet plot. I can't wait to read the next book!
Sweet story with hot fantasies about a hot guy who is instantly attracted to his new neighbor, who is cautious because a previous hunk had publicly disavowed her. Sweet story of him gradually wearing down her defenses.
I'd really liked how this was written,he took his time getting to know her and knowing that he couldn't push her into a quick relationship and not taking her to bed so quickly.
Love this sweet story. Loved how weight and body image didn't matter to the male character because in the real world it happens more often the we liked to believe.
Loved this book it was short and sweet!!! It is a book to read on a cold winter day!!! It was a book I had to read to the end when I started read the first page
Great book I really enjoyed the cute-meet storyline between the characters. I hope the author is going to tell Petra and Moran's story. 2 hot chef's cooking up trouble.
This book was really well written....I enjoyed it! Clearly a good man and she is a good women. O lile when good people come together. It feels like a reward for having a level head and walking the straight and narrow. It melted my heart with the number of people they clearly helped in the book...great story
