It's Terry's birthday and Maggie's got a surprise for him. One full weekend at La Petite Mort Club. Together. Just the two of them -- Dom and Sub. She’s a little nervous but she trusts him and she's promised that he can do WHATEVER he wants. She means it. She does. Really. Terry's d**k can't wait to get started but his head and heart aren’t so sure this is a good idea. Is she really ready for the Club and all the kink? Is she really ready to be his Sub? To obey him completely? She's still so unsure of her attractiveness as a woman. No matter what he does to prove to her how f***ing hot he finds her it isn't enough. On second thought, the Club—filled with rich, experienced men—might be the perfect place to teach her how attractive she truly is.

Loved this book! I read out of order, but it was still easy to understand. But I would recommend reading in order, it probably makes a story a lot better

Fans Of The Dom's Submission Will Be Thrilled To Read About Terry And Maggie And Their New Life Together!

La Petite Mort Club is a private club catering to those with similar interests in kink and offering a safe place to meet up and indulge.

His Lesson is a stand-alone that follows Terry and Maggie's story from The Dom's Submission. It covers Terry and Maggie's first night of their weekend at the club. The sequel, His Love, covers the second night of their stay. Several single characters are introduced, perhaps to be featured in future releases in the Intimate Encounters series.

From The Dom's Submission, Terry, in his mid forties, fell for Maggie when she bumped into him at La Petite Mort Club, where he had been been a member for years following his difficult divorce. It was obvious that she had never been there before and was desperately looking for someone. She reminded him of a scared little rabbit. Short, curvy, and innocent, she was definitely not his type, but he had to have her. He hadn't needed to chase a woman in years, and Maggie put his patience to the test. Even after her seduction she proved to be a challenge that he couldn't walk away from. He tried, but it hurt too much, and his friends from the club were no help. They thought she was good for him.

Maggie had only been divorced a year when her ex-sister-in-law and former friend lured her, unsuspecting, into a private club for a rowdy open night event. While she never found her friend inside, she did acquire an admirer. Unfortunately, the single mom of three, ages two to eight, didn't have the time for a relationship and wasn't into flings. But the arrogant, rude, brutally honest hunk of man pursued her until all her silly excuses melted away. The man wanted nothing to do with her children, so though she gave in to some adult fun, she knew it was only temporary.

Terry eventually comes to terms with his need to have Maggie in his life, children and all, and Maggie realizes that underneath his rudeness, the man she has grown to love is a kind and very good man.

His Lesson opens several months after the couple works things out. Maggie and the children now live with Terry and his dog, Beast. Terry, who hasn't taken a vacation in years, has agreed to take his family away for a ten day vacation over spring break. He makes good use of their time away, hiring a contractor to soundproof the master bedroom in their absence. That way hearing Maggie scream as he pleasures her will no longer be confined to every other weekend when the children visit their father.

Maggie arranges a surprise for Terry's birthday. Immediately preceding their trip, their friends Nick and Sarah agree to watch the children so that she and Terry can spend a weekend at the club. This is a momentous occasion because Terry has never brought Maggie there. She is new to his world and is still learning how to be a sub; he cannot be as forgiving with her at the club. Additionally, she will be on display and doesn't want to embarrass Terry, who has a reputation for his control.

Terry doesn't believe she is ready, but Maggie wants so much to please him that she willingly takes the plunge. Nevertheless, she still harbors insecurities that could derail their weekend. She fears that Terry hasn't brought her there because he is embarrassed by her. And more importantly, despite Terry's constant reassurances about her beauty, Maggie has not recovered from the body shaming she received from her ex-husband who left her when she hadn't lost her baby weight, calling her fat. She isn't comfortable in her own skin, so displaying herself for others to see will take considerable courage.

Readers may find a few issues of concern. Although I have tremendous sympathy for Maggie's insecurities, it does become a bit tedious to read about. I understand Terry's frustration with her! But moreover, I felt that Maggie (or Terry) should have delayed her first visit to the club with him. Period. She was clearly unprepared and not ready. With Terry's considerable experience, it seemed to me he failed in several respects, and he thereby came across as inauthentic. Although Bruce was indeed a problem, Terry seemed weak, not in control. I also had a big problem believing he and Maggie had never fully discussed limits during their months together - such as audiences and threesomes. This discussion would have gone a long way toward securing the trust that Terry was so frustrated about and hurt by. Terry must have known that asking an aroused person a question might result in an answer they wouldn't otherwise give. It was reckless, especially considering one's inexperience and another's strong and informed preference. It could  have ruined things entirely. His actions relating to Dale were similarly reckless, and again, felt inauthentic given Terry's years as a dom and his reputation. A safer option would have been for the couple to remain low key publicly and observe only, aside from the privacy of their room. It could have been just as exciting and given Maggie a frame of reference to work toward. Nevertheless, the couple survives the first night at the club and looks forward to the next night.

Fans of The Dom's Submission will be thrilled to read about Terry and Maggie and their new life together. This is a very quick read. It is written in the third person. The POV alternates between Terry and Maggie. The plot is very simple. The characters are well-defined in context (having the read The Dom's Submission). Terry is weaker here. He is focused on proving Maggie is beautiful and earning her trust. Maggie is obsessed with her insecurity, which is sad. The many characters introduced here have interesting stories themselves. I rate this book 3.5 stars.

I don't know why my Kindle didn't melt! This continuing story of Maggie and Terry has one of the hottest scenes I have ever read. Maggie has booked them into La Petite Mort Club for the weekend to celebrate his birthday and Terry wants to use the opportunity to show Maggie just how sexy and beautiful she really is. Have a fan on when you read this. Wow!!
(Read this after 'The Dom's Submission' and before 'His Love' and 'His Imperfect Day' for the full story of Maggie & Terry. I promise you you will love these.)

Honestly? I loooooved 'His Lesson'!!!
I adore Terry & how he loves Maggie (his little rabbit), how ravishingly beautiful he feels she is (down to his bones) & how he wants to be with her ALL the time. I love his protective dominance & how he wants to carefully push her limits to enable her to 'fly'.
Terry is just so beautifully focused on his little rabbit in all ways. Everything he thinks about her: he loves her so MUCH, he WORRIES about her negative self-image & so wants to help her see just how physically desirable she really is & not only to him. Plus he SO LUSTS after her in the most deliciously wonderous way.
And I love Maggie: how she trusts Terry but is still working to fight her insecurities, how much she loves him & deeply wants to be with him. How she pushes herself to remember that she does trust him & to show Terry her trust even when it's hard for her to do. And how as a fuller size woman with a negative self-image (thanks to a jerk of an ex-husband) she is learning to acknowledge her deep sensual desires & her true physical beauty with Terry's unorthodox, determined but careful assistance.
Ultimately, IMO, the true beauty of this book is the LOVE that permeates every thought & interaction between Terry & Maggie.
For the reader who enjoys sizzling steam that intensely crackles off the page, characters that are beautifully fleshed out & intrigue the reader into wanting MORE of their story, for tight tense plot & enthralling writing: read this one. PLEASE!

(NOTE: To better understand Terry & Maggie's background story I recommend reading their trilogy: 'The Dom's Submission' but it isn't required in order to enjoy 'His Lesson').

????

I have to say there were a few things that disappointed me with this book.
The book is 155 pages but ends at page 105 (69%) and this book only covers one day, you have to then buy the next book for the next day (which covers his birthday weekend).
I much prefer my books to cover the meeting and relationship of the couple involved and not have to purchase separate books for separate days.
Terry was a good character and basically why I have 3 stars instead of less he knew who he was and what he wanted in a submissive and was working with Maggie on this.
Maggie was annoying for most of this book and solely because as a submissive you have soft & hard limits which is natural but Maggie in her own headspace didn’t have a clue what she wanted.
One minute she is saying to herself that Terry loves her and wouldn’t make her do anything she wasn’t comfortable with and then literally seconds later she is doubting him, questioning him and stepping away from him.
She demanded to go to the BDSM club but it was clearly obvious she wasn’t comfortable and wasn’t in the right headspace and Terry should have called it quits when she started to question him, he even said she looked scared at one point.
If she was already as his submissive she wouldn’t have questioned or doubted anything he said and she would have used her safe word if he did something she didn’t want.
Sorry but this wasn’t what I thought and I have read hundreds of BDSM novels and this falls short on who Maggie was and where she was in her submissive journey.

I just love Terry and Maggie. They are so good for each other. Maggie has certainly come a long way since they first met, even if she still has instances of getting too much into her head.

Terry is one of those Doms who is truly concerned with making sure his sub is comfortable and enjoying herself, and doesn't want to push her further than she can handle. It is clear how her trust in him keeps growing. And given her love for him, in turn she wants to make him happy, which includes going to the Club.

Terry's nickname for Maggie makes me chuckle, although it does seem to be growing on Maggie. And the sex scenes, can I say HOT!

I can't wait to see how their relationship and play continues to grow. I'm also curious to see if Bruce will get his own story, even though is a jerk in this one.

Terry and Maggie have built their relationship, but have yet to go back to the club together since they met. Maggie has set up a special weekend for the two of them a the club for Terry's birthday. His Lesson is day one.
Knowing Terry, his plan had a lot of potential for blowing up in his face as he pushes Maggie out of her comfort zone in an effort to help her see how beautiful she is. Their first night at the club is HOT! A cocky dom gets Terry to offer a lesson in being a proper dom and what follows is breath taking.
Trust is the ultimate key and it creates fireworks for these two. Cannot wait for the next night.

After reading this book I had to take a little time to compose myself and get my thoughts clear in my head before I put them in a review.
Wow this book was amazingly written. Once I started I couldn’t put it down till I was finished. This book has twists and turns you don’t know what’s happening. will they all get there happily ever after or will it all go wrong. To find out what happens go buy the book. You won’t be disappointed I wasn’t.

I thought the author did a fantastic job describing not only the physical scene but the emotional inner turmoil that both main characters experienced as they took their relationship to the next level. If you haven’t read this series from the beginning, I highly recommend it. You can read this as a standalone but to get maximum enjoyment from it you do need to know more about the couple’s history. Brilliant book.

His lesson by Ellis O. Day is the story of Terry who receives a birthday gift from Maggie for a one week stay at La Petite Mort Club where he can make her his submissive and experience sexual kink. This book focuses on Maggie’s unresolved body issues due to her ex-husbands verbal abuse. Terry plans to help her to accept her body during their stay. If you like steamy sex, then you will appreciate this book.

Wow I do not know what to say. This book was just as good as the three books in Dom’s Submission – just as good as all the books in the La Petite Mort Club series. This is a continuation on Terry and Maggie’s Love story. I call it a Love Story because it is. It is hot, sexy, steamy but there is love in the story. I can not wait for the next book, which is the next day adventure in Terry and Maggie’s story. Keep up the good writing Ellis O. Day.

This short novella was okay for a quick read and steamy sex, but not much of a story. Maggie has self esteem issues and Terry tries to get her to show her that other men desire her. I had a problem with the amount of alcohol Maggie had to become more relaxed. One of the men involved was also not much of a Dom and I'd be concerned for any unsuspecting sub he was with.

A birthday he will never forget

His Lesson is the first book in the La Petite Mort Club Intimate Encounters series which is a new series from the La Petite Mort Club series. This story centers on the couple of Terry and Maggie and one birthday he is never going to forget. Let's just say that your Kindle will be melting, along with your knickers, if you dare to open this smoldering sexy and fun story up.

Good

This book was okay. What really got me though, was the fact that this book only went to 69%. The rest of it were previews for the author’s other titles. The story said they’d be together at the club all weekend, but this book only has 1 night of that. You have to buy the other books to see what happens next. I hate that. I was going to give it 3 stars, but the whole trying to get you to buy the other books made me drop it to a 2.

His Lesson" was a solid, enjoyable read. I already knew the characters well, so I had a good idea of what was coming, but it was still satisfying to see their growth firsthand. Watching how they navigated the next stage of their relationship gave the story a comforting, familiar feeling. It didn’t break new ground or offer big surprises, but it served as a nice continuation for those invested in their journey. Their connection felt genuine, and it was rewarding to see how far they've come together.

Wow, this is so hot and sexy and yet it is beautiful. Terry’s love for Maggie is palpable and he is such a good man and Dom to her. Maggie is so strong and loveable and the reader can feel her fear and enjoyment, she has grown so much with Terry’s love and I can’t wait for the next chapter in their lives.

This is the first book I've read by the artist and I really enjoyed it. I loved that our main gal was curvy, a mom and "near middle aged." I gather that I missed some back story but I didn't think it affected the story too much.

His Lesson is the first book of the author I read. It seems that Terry and Maggie's story is an ongoing story, but I did not have any trouble following the story without the knowledge from the former books. I feel Terry and Maggie had great chemistry and that they are perfect for each other. His Lesson was an interesting story that I enjoyed reading very much.

It was fantastic fantastic set up sceen. Maggie has low self esteem about her body image. Terry is hoping a scene at the club will show her how beautiful she is.
This is a hot, hot story with love and tenderness underneath.

I realized after I picked this up that it was a continuation of Terry and Maggie's story. However, it didn't affect reading this book. It's short and what it deals with, you can follow along. Of course, now I will be reading the ones prior. This was hot and oh so good!

La Petite Mort Club is fantastic and Terry and Maggie are my favorite couple, so far...
This evolution in their relation is fantastic: how they both open more of them to each other.
As always, the intimate scenes are smoking hot!
I highly recommend this reading.

This is the 1st book I've read written by Ellis O. Day; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.

The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.

I loved the chemistry between the characters.

The further adventures of Maggie and Terry. Basically one hot sex scene after another with very little plot. Very graphic. It's Terry's birthday and Maggie decides to treat him to a weekend at his club. She's extremely nervous about letting the other members see her naked. The story involves how Terry handles her misgivings. Short but still interesting.

OMG!! What a lesson

Oh wow! After reading this I had to stop catch my breath, clear my head enough to write this review. I love how Terry is trying to get Maggie to overcome her insecurities. What a shock Terry had when he had his epiphany, which Maggie knows deep down but isn’t sure of it yet. Can’t wait to read more about them.
