From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Aurora Rose Reynolds comes the sizzling final installment to the humorous and heart-filled How to Catch an Alpha series.

Anna McAlister needs a new life. But that doesn’t mean she needs a new man. After leaving her fiancé and Chicago behind, she promises herself no dating until she finds what she’s looking for. But meeting one seriously hot and determined detective has her questioning herself.

Calvin Miller is that detective, and he’s been burned by women in the past. It’s easy for him to sleep alone and focus on his work, but the moment he lays eyes on Anna, he starts imagining sexy nights with her wrapped in his sheets. Maybe it’s time to get back out there.

But just as the attraction between them begins to sizzle, Anna’s past shows up to create trouble. And to make matters worse, a string of murders forces Calvin to juggle his new relationship and his career. His worst fear? That the two are somehow connected.

Can they find love together, or will her past and his duty sink their hopes?

Aurora Rose Reynolds does it again with this sweet small-town romance that can be read as a stand-alone.

This was a cute and quick read. The heroine Anna left her heiress life behind in Chicago to find true happiness in this small seaside town. Calvin is a local police detective that instantly falls for Anna. This is definitely a insta-love romance without a lot of conflict. Add in hilarious secondary characters the equivalent of the Golden Girls and you have a great romance story

This story is not that steamy, especially compared to ARR’s Until Series but there is some passion. I wish there was more steam and desire between the couple. Calvin is definitely protective but not what I classify an alpha. Definitely not OTT.

ARR has a great writing style and the book is fast paced. Can definitely be read in an evening. Snappy dialogue and as I mentioned before the secondary characters were a hoot. Definitely a good read.

This was a very quick and satisfying read. I loved the characters straightaway: Anna for her courage in breaking with her old life and making new home and new friends, and Calvin for being very protective and thoughtful. I'm not a big fan of instalove, but this couple managed to pull it off, plus there was just the right amount of steam. The Golden Girls were hilarious and absolutely right in their conviction that we need to live our life right here and now.
Without giving away much, there is a life-death situation, and there is also a mystery, in addition to the main storyline which focuses on romance. Ideal for readers who are looking for a light summer read.

So I keep crying about this stupid Covid slump I'm in and honestly the last week felt like I was going a little crazy. I re-read an old favourite but I couldn't get into any of the books I'm committed to read. Then I opened my kindle to find Hooking Him front and center and I couldn't put it down.

Obviously I am madly in love with the beautiful Aurora Rose Reynolds and her writing is perfection. So it was a given that I was going to love the book. Seriously the only thing that could have made it more exciting is if it was a Mason.

Anna was one of those characters that I instantly wanted as a bestie. She wasn't sure who she was, but she knew who she didn't want to be and she had the strength to go looking for a better life. And I loved that she wasn't afraid to face the things about herself that made her uncomfortable. She was a really great heroine.

In true Aurora Rose Reynolds style Calvin was perfection. He knew that Anna was everything he wanted in his life and he set about making that happen. Not that she put up much of a fight, but then again, who would? He had the whole growling, possessive alpha thing down. But it wasn't in the normal over the top way.

The story was awesome and kept me guessing. And the chemistry was perfect. This was the perfect read to help restore my sanity.

This was just what I needed at the moment. A fun, sweet, and quick read! Hooking Him is a super cute small town romance that features a great bunch of supporting characters. In typical ARR fashion, we get a great story with a little bit of drama for those who like a hint of thrill in their romances.

Here’s what I loved:
Anna and Calvin were super cute together! After an unfortunate first meet, their chemistry grows quickly. I really enjoyed these two together!

The Golden Girls were too cute! The setting is phenomenal. This is the type of book I’d like to step inside for a few days and just hang out. These ladies were a hoot and half. I laughed so hard at their antics!

The writing, plot, pace, and characters are all well formed. This is a standalone and will certainly hit the spot for fans of this phenomenal author!

I found this to be such a cute story! The way Calvin teased Anna in the beginning had me smiling pretty big. I just thought they were such a cute couple and I really enjoyed reading this low angst romance. Plus the "Golden Girls" in this added to the cuteness of the story.

Calvin had a bit of an intense presence. He's a detective so he's naturally protective, but his pursuit of Anna was almost like a wolf stalking his prey. It's such a great combination in a hero.

Anna is the sweet heroine who isn't perfect but who is also genuine in her kindness. Her relationship with the Golden Girls brought a lot of humor to the story.

This was a fun read and I can see myself re-reading it when I need something to lift me up.

This book was ok, definitely the best in the series, though that’s not saying much as I rated the previous two books both two stars. This one was nowhere near as nauseating and lovey dovey, with only a few forehead kisses and no nose kisses whatsoever. Neither characters in this one waxed on and on about how rare and perfect their partner was and how they couldn’t believe that they were real, in fact the heroine often called the hero annoying and a jerk, and it was true, he kind of was one. The heroine was much better than Chrissie from that last book, she was just a weak, insecure cry baby. This heroine may have had more reason to be insecure but she had decided to make her own happiness a priority and seemed much stronger that the usual AAR damsel in distress. So this book was a decent read with a bit of push from the FMC, the male as per usual AAR was all in from jump and a condescending overbearing ass, but at least he was called out on it, not praised for it.

A few annoyances with the plot though:

1. The family drama on the heroine’s side was never really resolved in a satisfying way, we do get an update in the epilogue but there was no real closure on the awful way her parents treated her. For such a large part of the heroine’s struggle to find happiness this was kind of just left after the restaurant encounter.
2.
3. Calvin’s family: we are introduced to them through his overly involved mother in the beginning, seeming as a catalyst to pushing Anne towards Calvin. We then see his family at the bbq, and they are made very interesting. He was adopted at 5, has an adopted brother and his parents are a mixed race couple who also foster children in need. Cool right? But after that party we barely hear from or about them again. I was thinking there would be some cool meddling from the mom, some backstory from Calvin’s birth situation that would play out in the story, but nope. This whole part is abandoned quickly, leaving me to wonder why AAR even went to the trouble of building this out in the first place.

The golden girls were funny and crazy, could have had more of them and less of the above, especially the murder plot.
Other than that, the story was pretty conventional, it could have been interesting if the plot points above had been better executed. It just seemed like the author rushed to get this finished and didn’t fully flesh out the story.

Aurora Rose Reynolds latest read Hooking Him is a fast pace, insta-love romance. In her quest to find happiness, Anna abandons her past life to begin afresh and unexpectedly finds love with Calvin. This romance begins on a rugged note, however, it withstands the test of danger, drama, and action.

A fast track story, wherein we sought the opportunity to connect with Anna and Calvin through greater character development. We also felt that a more gradual build up to the action sequences would have further captivated our attention, and held us at the edge of our seats. With that being said, Hooking Him is a nice quick read.

Is there any surprise here? I love ARR and have enjoyed every book in this series. These characters were cute and I had a good time reading about them falling in love.

I really enjoyed our main character, Anna. I can respect a person who is willing to leave it all behind if they aren’t happy. She was an heiress who was engaged to a man she didn’t love and had a terrible family. She realized she wasn’t happy and walked away from it all. I feel like Calvin was really good for Anna. He showed her what being loved and cared for could feel like.

Besides our main characters, we were given some very funny side characters. This neighborhood had its own version of the Golden Girls. They were so damn funny and brought humor to the story.

Overall, I enjoyed this one! I don’t know if there will be more in this series, but I sure hope so!

Spoilers ahead

Of course I dropped everything to start this

So the h has recently moved to town and starts working at the bakery with the previous h I believe, she meets the h during a traffic stop where he acts a fool
His mamma sent him to apologize and from there it's on like donkey kong 😂
Murders, her egocentric once rich parents and her ex fiance cause some drama
Lovely epilogue

I did think the murderer came out of left field however, her turning out to be his childhood friend who was obsessed with him was just weird
I also found her issues with her parents weren't properly resolved

No cheating
h was engaged a short while before but broke up with her fiance
H's fiancee left him

In all honesty I'd rate this lower were it any other author I'd rate this lower but I like ARR so 2.5* with a boost

When you sink into this bad boy you sink into it. I enjoyed this alot with some steam.

Anna is strong woman who finally had enough and wanted to be happy and not a pawn of money and fake love. So she dropped her fiance and family to move to a quite town and finally started living the life she wanted to meeting some fun friends old and young and with those friends she meets Hot detective Calvin who already is under her skin for their first meeting. And boy that second meeting was funny and sparks flew!! I enjoyed their relationship i did wish we saw more date nights and stuff it did annoy me that Calvin job kept calling him. I understood since well cop. But I did get annoyed of that. On top of that we had a murder and well Anna's drama. So yeah pretty decent read and with good characters.

Tiny om drama and no ow drama (incase you count the murder), no cheating, sexy times, drama, slight secondary charas, no virgins

We met the very hot police detective Calvin back in book one and sweet Anna in book 2 when she comes to work at the bakery. They are great together Calvin is hot and sweet, but not as yummy as Gaston Baiting Him. Her parents and ex are a piece of work. There's a whole lot of mentioning of his ex, but no explanation about that relationship. There is a "serial killer" going around, and I sure didn't pick that person as being it. Loved the old ladies.

This was my favourite of the three books. It had more story and of course the fabulous Golden Girls.

Anna has left her life in Chicago behind her. Her rich parents, billionaire boyfriend and high paid job. She’s now living in a small apartment, working in a bakery and loving it.
She’s not looking for love.

Calvin Miller is the hot local detective. Since his fiancée left 5 years ago he hasn’t looked at another woman. But one look at Anna and he thinks it’s the right time to move on.

Can these two move on from their pasts and make a life together.

A quick, fun and sexy story.

➵ Heroine: Anna McAlister left a life of luxury, her tepid engagement, family and friends in Chicago and moved to small town meaning to start over and find herself. She doesn’t want a relationship but never expected the gorgeous detective who’s determined to woo her.

➵ Hero: Calvin Miller just wants to fight crime and keep old ladies from causing car accidents. He didn’t anticipate whirlwind Anna would catch his heart hook, line and sinker. But trying to balance his career and a love life that has some unforeseen added drama is a bit challenging.

➵ Plot: This is a pretty straight forward plotline, Anna and Calvin find each other attractive in more ways than one but their lives present obstacles they need to figure out, which they do together. This was my first Aurora Rose book and hopefully it won't be the last. That said, I jumped in the middle of this series without getting that feeling that I was missing something, which is a definite plus.

➵ Feels: This was a quick and easy to read story. It had lots of cute and fun moments between the main characters as well as some very charming old ladies, a dog and return characters from past books.

➵ Sexiness: There were definitely very steamy moments.

➵ Facts: Hooking Him is book #3 of the How to Catch and Alpha series by Aurora Rose Reynolds. It is a stand alone, contemporary romance told from both points of view with a happy ending.

➵ Overall rating: 4

Mediocre

This story was a little bit of a snoozer. The romance was blah, though there is a bit of mystery with a few murders that happens in the small town.

I started this book later than I normally would and surprise I finished it in no time. Mostly because Aurora Rose Reynolds makes reading so easy. Her stories pull you in and tick all the boxes.
She writes awesome heroes and heroines.
Anna has left her old life behind because she wasn't happy. She's not ready to date, but Calvin doesn't really want to take no for an answer, in a good way.
Calvin is a detective and two unsolved murders haunt him and take him away from what he's trying to create with Anna. Now, the life Anna left behind is back causing even more problems.

This story has everything to keep you entertained. I never tire of her writing style or story lines. The drama is enough to keep you wondering, but not so over the top.
I'm always hoping for more!

Book 3 in the How to Catch and Alpha series and I am loving it. Anna and Calvin were so good together. She was looking to start over in a new place and enjoy life after leaving her unfulfilling life in Chicago. What she wasn’t looking for was love but love had other plans. Calvin was attracted to her the first time he saw her. She pulled him in but he was a little leery at first due to his past relationship. She was able to show him that she was not is ex and the one for him. Loved them together and loved their HEA.

"Thank you for helping me find happiness."
"You found it on your own, baby... It was in you."

It looks like Aurora Rose Reynolds safed the best for the last, because Hooking Him is - in my honest opinion - the best story in the How to Catch an Alpha series. It was super funny, highly entertaining and had a little suspense factor too. My Happily Ever Alpha queen ARR didn't only deliver a beautiful and touching love story, she also gave the readers some very valuable and important messages on the way like living and enjoying life to the fullest and not being afraid to walk away from things that make us unhappy. I really appreciated that and it made me love the book even more!

After leaving her rich fiancé and privileged life in Chicago behind, Anna McAlister promises herself to find the kind of happiness she always wanted but never had. She finds a job at the local bakery and rents an apartment at the beach from an old, sweet lady Edie. Dating someone new never crossed her mind until she accidentally crosses paths with hot and super alpha detective Calvin Miller.

After being burned by love in the past, Calvin is solely concentrating on his career. But staying focused gets much harder, the moment he lays eyes on the beautiful red head Anna, who makes him phantasize about her all day. After their first meeting goes all wrong, he's determined to make it up to her and show her that he's worth taking a chance on.

Just as the feelings between them start to grow and things gets serious, people from Anna’s past will unexpectedly show up creating major trouble for the new couple. And to make things worse, a series of brutal murders is occupying Calvin and the local police who are desperately trying to find the killer. They never saw it coming that it all might be somehow connected to Calvin and his new found happiness...

I absolutely adored Anna! She was such a great heroine with a huge heart. I loved that even though she came from old money, she didn't care at all about materialistic stuff. Coming to South Carolina was the best decision she's ever made because it didn't only bring her a great friendship with the three hilarious Golden Girls but the love of her life too.

Calvin was the epitome of an ARR alpha hero. He cherished Anna with all his heart and was super protective of her! He instantly knew that she's the one for him because she accepted and respected his profession and the sacrifices it demanded. Their endless love and support of each other was everything!

If you're looking for a quick, sexy summer read that will equally make you laugh and swoon, then Hooking Him is the right book for you! I devoured it in only a couple of hours and loved it beyond words. Thank you dear Aurora for another epic 5 star masterpiece and top favorite of 2020!

What a super sweet perfect summer read! Head to the beach with this one and find a woman ready to find herself, a broody hero and a riot of small town characters. This story brings humor, steam and a bit of suspense and it is all rolled up in a slow burn romance.

Anna gets all the props here. She has had an elite upbringing with very little affection from her parents. She pulls up her bootstraps and decided she is a better person than that. She leaves the sheshe folks behind and moves across country to find out who she wants to be. She develops some great friendships. Gains the Golden Girls of sudo parent/grandparents, and falls in love with the most eligible bachelor in town.

Perfect read when you want to get away from it all. Loved it!

This is the third book in the series and I enjoyed just as the first book or maybe even a little more..I loved Calvin and Anna. I had to give it to Anna to let go of her toxic surrounding with supposedly the people who have your back or your love. Anna leaves he rich family, her good paying job, and her fiance of 5 years. Anna started a new life after realizing how shallow her life was, and meets the Golden Girls, and let me just say that I love those old woman they were hilarious. Calvin has been stuck in a rut, he loves his job however since his ex left him hanging 5 years ago he has no interest in dating, until he meets Anna. These two were made for each other, and we had a little interesting scenario going on besides their new love affair. Hates Anna's parents and her supposed friend, however I got to appreciate Lance after his quick stupidity I felt like her redeemed himself.

Hooking Him is the third and last installment in the highly addictive How to Catch an Alpha series by the unquestioned queen of Insta love stories - Aurora Rose Reynolds. This amazing book was such a beautiful, touching and thought-provoking story. I adored the inspiring message behind it to live every single day of your life like it's your last, to never stop searching for your own brand of happiness and to surround yourself daily with people who nurture your heart and soul with love.
Aurora's exceptional talent shines on every single page of this book. She is my go to author when I want to forget my problems for a few hours and immerse myself in an entertaining and happy go lucky story with intriguing, endearing characters.

Anna McAlister left her shallow, materialistic existence and fiancé behind in Chicago in order to move to South Carolina and find what she felt missing in her life. Coming from a wealthy and very influatial family she never felt happy or loved until she met the glorious Golden Girls (Edie, Pearl & Dixie) and found peace and contentment in a small beachside apartment and working as a baker. She didn't plan to add a man so soon to this equation until she meets a hot, dark-haired and blue eyed detective determined to take this gorgeous and kind-hearted red-head on a date. Calvin Miller loves his job and wants to find someone to build a family with. But he has been burned before by his ex who couldn't handle him working for the police. When he lays eyes on Anna he starts thinking that a refreshingly honest woman like her might be worth getting himself out there again. Can their new relationship overcome the trouble from her past or will his duty sink all their hopes and plans for a future?

Anna was a great heroine whom I've adored and  deeply admired. She had the guts to start anew and build a future without her family's money and connections because she realised early in her life that the most important things can't be bought. I loved her special friendship with the much older Golden Girls. Their adventures together were hilarious and made me laugh so hard. Anna was very understanding and supportive of Calvin's job as a detective which was very important to him. They both had great chemistry from the get go and clicked on so many levels. They truly found their soulmate in each other. Calvin was a swoon worthy Alpha hero - protective and possesive with a heart of gold who was a great son and partner and who worshipped the ground Anna walked on.

I've devoured this fantastic story within a few hours because I simply couldn't put it down. It left me with a huge smile on my face. Aurora has once again delivered another funny and heart-felt series for Montlake Publishing. I've enjoyed all three books immensely and highly recommend them. I'm giving Hooking Him 5 well-deserved stars and am shelfing it among my top favorites.

4 stars. Thank you to NetGalley for giving me an eARC of this book for an honest review.

The third book in the How to Catch an Alpha installment was very enjoyable and I loved reading Aurora Rose Reynolds’ series about strong dominant males. This book can be read as a standalone but it is nice to know some of the characters of the other books as they do appear in Hooking Him.

Our main character Anna McAlister arrives in our small beach town of South Carolina and dives deep into work at Sweet Spot, a bakery that sells delicious baked goods. Our hero is Calvin Miller and he is a handsome strong detective who may seem tough and mean but is a real sweetheart and displays amazing care toward the people he loves.

I gave this book four stars and I really enjoyed this book and series. When I first dived into this series I expected it to actually be about werewolves, but was not disappointed in that when discovering it was a contemporary adult romance. It was definitely insta-love and an instant attraction sort of book and it did make me cringe a little when reading it in some parts where it seemed so cheesy but I enjoyed this series a lot when it came down to the romance and the connection that both Anna and Calvin had. At first Anna plays slightly hard to get and finds that she maybe moving too fast after ending it with her ex-fiancé but she slowly sees that Calvin is a good guy and they start to warm up to each other.

I love the way they connected well together and how Calvin was really understanding and caring toward Anna. I didn’t think I would like this series the way I did and I’m so glad that I picked it up and read the first two books. It was great to see the instant love and connection between our heroine and hero was great and it was nice to read the quick love and just smile all giddy like and I absolutely adored their relationship.
