Karen Maxwell #1
George Washington Stepped Here
After her divorce from a philandering ex, Karen Maxwell handled administrative paperwork for her brother’s private investigation agency while he ran around town doing the “fun” part of the business—the investigation. When his partner retires, he finally offers her a chance to take a case of her own. She soon finds out why.
The assignment involves the theft of the local historical society’s most treasured artifact, and her brother figures everyone involved is a little crazy. Not only must Karen pose as a volunteer at the site to catch the thief, which includes spending her Saturdays running around in funny clothes, she has to somehow get her kids to go along with the plan, too. Through her undercover efforts, she meets a host of dedicated historical reenactors, one of whom happens to be tall, handsome—and unmarried. Unfortunately, he is also a prime suspect.

Wonderful story. A real page turner, and humorous too!

This is very much a Saturday afternoon sat in the warm, away from the winter weather read. A whodunnit mystery interwoven with the promise of romance that is ideal for escaping from anything more strenuous than turning the page.
I must admit to waiting for something to happen; a break-in, shooting or death perhaps. While we all wish for a happy ending, it’s always nice if there’s a little excitement and adventure along the way. Sadly this was not the case with this book.

Loved it! Very easy read, a bit of mystery, a bit of romance all baked in with the reality of a single mom's life of two kids growing up too fast.

I bought this book for $2 at BigLots because it looked interesting. Then got home and found out it's a "Christian" whodunit. It turned out to be a fast, easy read and the Christian "go to church" stuff was saved for the last two pages. No blood, guts, or gore.

Just a great little book to take to the pool, carry in your purse to read while waiting for appointments. One of the many books by Heartsong Presents Mysteries and their assorted authors.
