When Trish Cunningham and her oldest stepson Tommy find Georgia Winters, the English teacher at Four Oaks High School, dead in the band room, the suspect list is lengthy. The teacher had a number of enemies—including Tommy Cunningham.

Once again, Trish pulls out her notebook to collect clues. Detective Eric Scott, suffering from unrequited love for Trish’s best friend, Abbie, pointedly asks Trish to mind her own business. But despite the detective’s warnings, she jumps in as usual and finds herself embroiled in a mystery that has its root in thwarted love and revenge. This finale could be Trish’s swam song.

I didn't hate it, but I will not be reading anything by this author again. The story line was boring and as with other Christan fiction authors(I've noticed), gives into a cliche that women "need" to be taken care of, like a child, by their husbands.

SUMMARY: When Trish Cunningham and her oldest stepson Tommy find Georgia Winters, the English teacher at Four Oaks High School, dead in the band room, the suspect list is lengthy. The teacher had a number of enemies—including Tommy Cunningham.

REVIEW: This is the first book I have read from Spyglass Lane Mysteries. They are a collection of Christian cozy mysteries - modern-day whodunnits with colorful characters and plenty of wholesome romance. I thoroughly enjoyed this cozy mystery starring Trish Cunningham and her family along with a cast of characters from Four Oaks High School. There were enough twists and turns to keep my interest along with a plot line that was similar to those found in Murder She Wrote or Miss Marple books. I plan to read more from this series as well as other Spyglass Lane Mysteries.

FAVORITE QUOTES: "In order for a parent to really make an impact, a kid has to know how much they care. Communication with understanding is the key, even when the kid doesn't act like they're listening."

"Funny how unresolved issues between people can build walls, and the longer it goes on, the higher the walls become."

"Now I'm ready to do the right thing. Whatever it is that God wants me to do. Walking in God's love instead of selfishness sometimes means doing the very thing we don't want to do."

Book 2 in the new authors series finds Trish (Patricia) Cunningham 8 months pregnant and stumbling over another dead body.
She is at the high school to pick up business advertisement forms and attend a meeting for the class play and goes to the band room to find a missing faculty member.
The suspects are closer to home as her stepson Tommy is one being questioned.
Rumors of cheating, use of enhancement drugs by the football coach, gambling, selling family heirlooms and real estate and pawning band instruments are some of the happenings. Add a mother-in-law who doesn’t think her daughter-in-law is good enough for her son and it makes for an interesting story.

Sweet calm little “Christian” cozy mystery. Nothing Christian about it except Trish does a Bible study, and a verse or two makes its way into the tale. But it’s clean. Nothing “band” about it either, except the band room is where a murder takes place, and there’s a band director who acts mysteriously. Nothing about a bassoon either, except there is one found on the floor next to the dead woman. This has more to do with theater, not band, but nevertheless, it’s easy to read and enjoy if you don’t over critique the plot line.

Fun mystery. I didn’t care for how patronizing the men were with Trish and her husband treated her like a child. Trish was also judgmental. A few comments made really grated me, especially she snidely said the bagger is on drugs because of his piercings and tattoos. Judge much?? That really lowered my enjoyment of the book.

This is a "nice" murder mystery, that is if murder is ever nice. Trish is a busy body with a good life, a sexy husband, and a baby that is ready to pop out of her at any moment....yes, she's pregnant. I'm giving the book three stars because I believe that the author tried in earnest to make this a mystery-driven novel with a Christian slant when really the story just follows the typical cozy mystery path where the character's life is more interesting than the mystery. But she tried! And for that I'll award three stars instead of the two (for it's OK) that I really should give it. I didn't hate it, and I might even buy (or borrow) the previous and following book (this is number two in the series), but I won't break my neck to do it.

Trishfinds a dead body in the school’s band room. What makes the whole thing interesting is that:

- She is 8 months pregnant
- Her son is one of the ‘suspects’

The novel makes for interesting reading as Trish keeps discovering clue after clue and even gets a new partner-in-crime of investigating. Someone as stubborn as herself, who wouldn’t listen to the Inspector who warns them against investigating and finally resigns to their stubborn-ness.

It was a light read. I enjoyed it. You feel for Trish and identify with her stubbornness, carelessness, thoughts and general style of behaving. She is not a fictional character for you (like Sherlock Holmes – too good to be real). She feels very much real and neighbourly.

This was a fun series. I enjoy a 'good mystery' - one where the characters have personality, and the book is clean. Although I have read them, I don't actually enjoy books that have overly descriptive violence. This series of books don't focus on the violence of the act, only on the emotions of those involved, and the solving of the mystery. They are engaging, while not being too deep. I like that. I don't want to put the book down, but I also don't have trouble sleeping! GREAT to read for an easy escape from a hard day of work, or just a quick weekend diversion.

This mystery depicted an interesting cast of suspects who would want to murder Georgia. There were many surprising twists and turns in the drama as pregnant Trish tried desperately to solve the mystery. The author kept me guessing, despite very subtle clues. I liked the contributions the high school students made to the search. Recommended for people who like a cozy mystery.

I really liked this one a lot. The only thing I didn't like about it was I felt like I was to old to read the book, like it was written for a kid.
