This is a retold version of the timeless story, Little Red Riding Hood. I enjoyed how simple and easy-to-read this book was. I never really enjoyed this story. It always bothered/scared me how the wolf ate the grandmother. However, I enjoyed this version of the story. The author explains that the woodcutter cuts open the wolf's stomach and gets little red riding hood and her grandmother out. It provides an alternate ending so the children aren't scared or bothered like I was. I am not sure if this is how the original story ends, but I have never heard that ending before. The illustrations are very detailed and colorful, but simple at the same time. I recommend this book to children 2nd-3rd grade who already know how to read, but are still getting the hang of it.

This is a classic but what a strange story. I do like in other versions how the grandma what big eyes you have, what big ears, what a big mouth, etc. is a little drawn out. This just went straight to the teeth and next thing you know she was swallowed whole. This makes for a happy ending because the wood cutter slices open the wolf and out pops granny and little red. I'm not complaining I'm all about a happy ending.
