Five year old Heath Barnes just wants to go home, but the worst blizzard in Georgia’s history seems to have other plans. Forced to seek shelter in a suspicious old farmhouse, the Barnes family feels blessed to have found a safe place to ride out their snow-covered nightmare. But the other guests in the farm house may not be who they seem, and the pale, bloody girl who has appeared floating through the snow outside surely seems to be a harbinger of bad news. As the blizzard picks up outside, so too does the storm inside...
5 year old Heath and his parents seek shelter from a snow storm in a farm house. The owners seem to be strange and not very helpful. They already have some weather guests inside... when Heath's mother disappears things turn very bizarre and twisty. What is going on in this remote home? What about the real truck drivers and why is there a tourist group talking about a "Georgian blizzard massacre"? An interesting pulp horror story that became a bit confusing at parts. Otherwise a thrilling, breathtaking and brutal read. Recommended if you like mysterious hang up in snow settings. The catchy and promising cover lured me in.
I thoroughly enjoyed and recommend this book. Seen mostly through the eyes of a precocious 5 year old boy Heath, the horrors of the story are told in a unique perspective that I have not experienced before. Early in the read I felt echos of the Shining, Children of the Corn, and the Sixth Sense, but quickly I realized that this is a tale all of its own that leaves the reader longing to turn the next page and find out what will happen next. A suspenseful and difficult to put down text, fans of this genre should not miss out.
This book has it all. The entertainment that is given through the way that Sterling is able to enter the mind of young Heath and portray the world through his eyes is unmatched. There were spooky twists around every corner; the kind that make you jump when your washing machine running in the background switches cycles because you're so engrossed in the book it feels like reality.
It's been years since I have read a book as well written as Through Frozen Veins. My excitement level, much like my heart rate during this read, is through the roof to get my hands on whatever William Sterling comes out with next! Thrilled to have found such an incredible author.
Little 5 year old Heath is outside in a severe and dangerous blizzard. Hes lost. He knows he has to get inside somewhere to get safe from the storm. He finds shelter in a dilapadated old barn but hes not alone. It seems he has company of the worst kind. The characters are well developed. The story has an eerie feel to it. It was hard to put this book down. The story draws you in. I really liked it.

This is a fun, suspenseful read that was hard for me to put down, so I sped through it. The protagonist is a likable young kid, and the author gets into his head really well. I liked that the horror felt complicated in that it seemed danger could come from anywhere, any time.
