I've been a writer, one way or another, all my life. Before I could read, I made up poems and my mom wrote them down for me. In elementary school, my teachers almost always let me write poems or stories instead of requiring me to do art projects. Always, I dreamed of becoming a published writer...and that dream came true! I write novels about sexy, powerful men and independent-minded women, and what happens when they find each other and fall in love. My books are sexy and romantic, and they've very often full of romantic suspense. I write the kinds of books I love to read, and I hope that makes my readers happy.

Re The Taming of Tyler Kincaid - Sandra Marton brings us the fourth book in her eight book Baron Brother's series.

Ironically, if you read the tagline for this series, it gives away a HUGE spoiler for this story - even tho this one is ostensibly about the stepsister of the three H's from the prior books and the huge Texas ranch their father wants one of them to take over.

This book is also done in the Standard Sandra Marton Plot Outline Style.

Which means that the book starts with the H and the OW, moves to a Battle of Wills and Lurve Force Mojo Passion Moments between the h and H and then we have an Epic Act of H Stupidity Moment, A Standard SM several day or weeks or months Mopey Moment and then some sorta H groveling and an HEA.

So on the surface at least, this book is very much a Standard SM HP Outing, but SM gives this one some nuances and some depth and for once she gives us a very good story indeed.

The book opens with Tyler the H coming home to find his casual shag partner has arranged a birthday party. To Tyler - who chose his own name as soon as he was old enough to do so to replace the highly ubiquitous John Smith - this is the knell of doom for this particular boudoir bouncee.

In a rare HPlandia sympathy moment, we almost feel kinda sorry for the OW as she has arranged a surprise birthday party for Tyler with several members of the social set he does business with.

Regardless of the fact that the OW broke into his home after stealing his security alarm codes and billed the catering and staffing bills for his own birthday party to Tyler, it is clear that this OW knows nothing about Tyler at all - tho she avows fervently that she is in love with him and seems pretty believable about it.

Mainly cause Tyler was given the generic John Smith name when he was fostered out to indifferent people who died when he was ten. His birthday is a made up date that was given to him when he was placed with them and none of the people the OW invited are actually his friends - they are just people who want use his business or his connections.

Tyler never celebrates his birthday cause it is a reminder of just how rootless he is in the world. Aside from the knowledge that his former bang partner has no respect for private property rights, Tyler is also irked that she would declare her big love and devotion towards him and then accuse him of being mean when Tyler tells her he doesn't love her back.

Tyler pretty much kicks the bed warmer to the door, tho he tries to be polite about it, and he does refrain from reminding her that he clearly stated that he wasn't interested in anything but a booty call and occasional social partner at the start of things and that the blanket bunny agreed with him.

Tyler wonders how is he supposed to get to know anyone else enough to have a real relationship with them when he knows nothing about himself and hasn't for 35 years. It is this hollowness inside him that drives him to hire a PI and have the investigator dig up his own past.

This information quest soon leads him to the Baron ranch and Jonas, the cantankerous and nasty patriarch is away on business. Which means that Tyler meets Caitlin, the stepsister who runs the ranch, (while knowing that since she isn't a Baron she will never inherit it,) and the Lurve Force Mojo Inspired Battle of Wills and Roofie Kisses is on.

Caitlin mistakes Tyler for a horse trainer and since Tyler doesn't correct her, she is manipulated into offering him a job. There are verbal battles and roofie kisses and an interesting case of an employee harassing the boss.

Jonas returns and when he and Tyler meet, it is very clear that Jonas knows exactly who Tyler is - tho we and Tyler have to wait a bit for the big revelation.

When Jonas notices that Tyler and Cait are becoming very close and Cait figures out that Tyler is really a rich business guy from Georgia - (Cait did the googles to research Tyler's name!) - Jonas suddenly caves and tells Cait she can inherit the ranch. The only condition is that she not see Tyler again.

Cait doesn't listen tho Jonas is forced to agree she can still inherit the ranch and after Tyler kidnaps her for a date, they are soon lost in the Purple Sparkly Light of a major lurve club event. Tyler realizes he is in love with Cait and then the other shoe drops.

Tyler is Jonas's first born son and Jonas cast him out like garbage on the day he was born, while Jonas' wife and Tyler's mother lay dying.

Jonas claims the baby died with his wife. But after Tyler confronts him with the truth, Jonas claims it was because his wife cheated on him with a hired hand and kicked him out of her bedroom after Jonas raped her - but Jonas swears that Tyler isn't his.

Tyler knows this is a lie because he did his research on the hired hand and the man was medically documented to be sterile.

(The big denial was sheer nasty behavior on Jonas' part, because Tyler looks and acts just like the rest of the Baron men - including Jonas.)

Jonas and Tyler have a huge fight and Tyler winds up storming off. Caitlin is furious about this and she thinks Tyler used her for a bounce and dump.

(Mainly because Jonas makes up some lie about Tyler trying to claim Jonas is his father and then trying to force Jonas to sign over the rights to the newly discovered oil on the ranch.)

Jonas digs the knife in a little deeper when he claims that Tyler has a girlfriend and was only seducing Cait to get another route of access to taking the ranch.

Caitlin doesn't know what to believe, tho she is leaning towards believing Tyler, when Jonas collapses and breaks his leg and everybody has to run to hospital.

When we get there, Jonas needs a blood transfusion and only Tyler has the rare negative antigen kind of blood to help him out - so now everyone knows that Jonas lied and Tyler really is their half brother by Jonas' first wife.

(Caitlin got left behind when her mother married Jonas as his third or fourth wife and then ran off with an actor and Jonas just kept her cause his next wife really liked her.)

Caitlin now believes that Tyler really was trying to use her in a revenge scheme against Jonas, so she sends Tyler off and he has to go have mopey moments about his bad behavior.

There is a little fond farewell moment to his former girlfriend when Tyler confesses he fell in love with someone else and then Tyler goes rushing back the Baron ranch.

The other brothers are all happy to meet and accept Tyler, but Cait is having a hissy fit, so Tyler kidnaps her again while doing a very nice True Love Forever declaration and apology combo.

The other three brothers are happy to help a newly minted brother out and they give Tyler the keys to a truck to facilitate felony transport. Finally Cait admits that she really loves Tyler in return and Tyler takes her to the new ranch he bought for a rededication to the lurve club passion.

We have a little snapshot of each of the prior couples and their kids or pregnancies in the epilogue, as Caitlin and Tyler take their wedding vows for a very sweet and sparkly HEA.

Jonas also gets a small redemption as he claims he is sorry for his extremely bad behavior and he plans to tell all four of his sons that he loves them, giving the HP Voyager a little cherry to the sticky sweet sundae of an entertaining HPlandia outing.

Wonderful book Sandra. You have a wonderful way of telling a story. I won this book from Patti Pat and I simply loved it. The story of Tyler and Catie was wonderful. I cried. Your books so such emotion and they keep you attention. I can't wait till I can afford to buy some more of this series. Bravo

This book was great but it was a pity it was so short. I would of loved a full story out of it like the other books because I felt like we missed so much possible action because the book itself was under 65 pages depending on which format you are using to read it.

Wanting to know the truth about his birth, a handsome tycoon goes on a journey of discovery that pits him against one of the most powerful families in Texas, including the most beautiful but stubborn woman he has ever met. The Taming of Tyler Kincaid gets off to a quick start with undeniable chemistry between these two strong individuals. What will he do when he discovers that to avenge his mother he must destroy the dreams of the woman he now loves?

I really dunno how I feel about this book. It wasn’t awful, but it wasn’t great (for me), hence the 3 stars.

I was beginning to like Jonas in the previous books but in this book, every goodwill I had towards him was destroyed. I hated the way he treated his first wife, and I’m really sad she died with that false accusation hanging around her neck, and in childbirth no less. But what really disgusted me was the fact that he got rid of the child.

The way the whole thing was just glossed over and Tyler just suddenly forgiving him because he loved Catie, it just…it rubbed me the wrong way. I really wanted Jonas to pay, and I couldn’t care less that he had an heart attack. And the whole thing just took away from the joy I felt/was supposed to feel when Tyler and Catie found their way to each other.

Also, I dunno if it was an editing or plot error, but Gage keeps switching in this book from the middle son to the last born. I could have sworn he was the middle child based on the previous books.

I didn't like it. The connection between hero and heroine was ok, but I didn't much like the main plot or the backstory of Jonas Baron disposing of his firstborn son (even though he thought wasn't his).

I didn't like that in the first chapter hero was in a relationship with another woman, he almost slept with her but instead broke up with her. Then at the end of book he reconnected with her, went out on a date and seriously considered sleeping with her again (after knowing he was in love with heroine and having slept with her already), but instead realized he wanted to fight for heroine. The other woman wasn't a horrible person, but I didn't like the inclusion of her in the book and how much the hero thought about her throughout the book. Np.

I liked the start. The surprise birthday party and hero ending it with his lover before he goes off searching for his birth family, it was well written. But then hero gets to texas, meets heroine and I didn't really warm to the heroine and I didn't like how he forced himself on to her. Too much arguing.
I got to page 82 and gave up.

tre stelle e mezzo

I think out of all the four book I have read till now, something about Tyler and Cait's story was different and it is the only reason the book was such a delight to read.

I liked the rawness of both of them.
