Foot Soldier is the short story of Alvarez, an Army guy, who up until the undead happened thought of himself as a pretty strong guy. His new reality makes him look and dig deeper to find his true strength. He must make it 50 miles on foot to his goal. He's not a runner or a killer so can he do it? The struggles both external and internal make it an interesting read. I received a free copy of this story and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Foot Soldier is a short story from the Undead Ultra universe zombie novels. It is told from one man’s point of view, Alvarez an army soldier on his way to meet up with his fellow soldiers. On his journey, he meets up with Kate and Frederico who gives him a few pointers on how to handle zombies and the best way of travel in the zombie apocalypse.

Alvarez makes plans to walk approximately thirteenth miles in two hours but he soon decides that walking is not his strong suit. He may be a soldier but walking is for the birds. He was also having a hard time with killing the zombies at first but he soon overcame his fear.

Alvarez soon started hoofing it down the road once he made up his mind what he wanted and what he wanted was to live and help people. After his first day of walking, Alvarez was real sore but he didn’t give in to the pain and sit around all day no he decided to walk in pain.

I love zombie books and really enjoyed Alvarez’s story in the Undead Ultra universe. I really came to like Alvarez after he overcame his fear. He turned out to be a very nice and brave guy. I would like to see more of Alvarez in future books. Foot Soldier had lots of zombies and action with lots of blood and gore. Once I picked it up I couldn’t put it down until the last page was turned.

I highly recommend Foot Soldier to all zombie fans and anyone who is looking for a short fast read.

Short and well, not sweet, perhaps gory is a better one.

This short story is basically alvarez's origin story, how he went from scaredy cat to a leader of quite a lot of people.

It's very short but it's nice to have another little bit of the undead ultra world since I would have happily read a few more in the series although the ending isn't bad at all.

A nice side story to the Undead Ultra series. Also it has the only scene I recall reading in ZomPoc books of someone stripping to boxers and socks to escape zombies. If you've read the other Undead Ultra books then this one is a worthy follow on read to the series.

Love love this short story. This is a small piece of how Alverez makes it to Fort Ross and how he gets the name Foot Soldier.
