Each chapter contains The Counselor's Toolkit and presents assessment, case conceptualization and treatment approaches followed by case illustrations. This First Edition concludes with a chapter on emerging trends and a chapter on caring for those who care.

This book was required reading for a behavioral health class I am taking, and I found it helpful overall. It served well as a primer for understanding the impact of crisis, trauma, and disaster in the lives of individuals. As it is written for clinicians, this book was mostly practical with a heightened emphasis on providing care. As a student, I would have preferred a more theoretical book on how crisis, trauma, and disasters may be approached from different counseling modalities.

Ultimately, I found it helpful and it was easy to read so I think it is well worth all 4 stars. I don't know enough to knock it down a star or to definitely award it all 5 stars.

This is a pretty good textbook.

Not as clear in sections as I would like.

But good enough.
