Retired widows, Connie and Sable Butterworth, have set up a private investigating business. In this story, Connie's daughter, Debra, asks them to help one of her friends. Nerys and Dale Spencer have been together since they met at school. They are now happily married with children. Or so Connie thought. She is shocked to discover that Nerys has filed for divorce. After speaking to Nerys, Connie and Sable soon have misgivings about the solicitor Nerys hired. Before Connie and Sable can confront the solicitor, Bruno Ridgeway, they discover he's been murdered. And Dale Spencer is the prime suspect. Connie believes Dale to be innocent and sets out to prove it.

About the author

I'm an avid fan of mystery stories. I started reading Agatha Christie novels at an early age. My favourite fiction detective is Poirot, I love his fussy ways and his attention to small details. I love the TV series, 'Murder She Wrote' and have watched every episode. I like working out who the killer is, and what the clues are.

I live near Leeds, Yorkshire, which is in the north of England. My two daughters live with me and they are understanding about my passion for mystery shows! I've now discovered 'Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries'.

I've been wanting to write my own mystery stories for years - and now I finally have.

Very entertaining series.

Read the three books I didn't read before, but so sad no more books about the adventures of Connie and Sable to read. In this book Butterworth investigators working for the friend of the family. Divorce, murder and boy grow up without father. Husband secretly working on the big surprise for his wife. As always Connie and Sable found the real killer.

Mr Ridgeway's Last Case (A Butterworth Mystery Book 5) by Gillian Larkin is another great mystery that kept me guessing until the end. This novella is about 100 pages long and contains humor, intrigue, a lot of clues, wit, a great mystery, and a lot of fun. These books are always a delight to read. I have never been disappointed! Great reading anytime of the day.

This is a longer Butterworth PI story than usual, and you can tell as there is more detail to balance with the additional red herrings.

I love Sable, Connie, Debra and Saffy. As usual with Gillian Larkin's books, the characters feel like a family and draw you into their familiarity, kindness and compassion. All except Sable of course, she doesn't trust anyone and unfair things get her back up very easily. In this particular case, one of the suspects is very rude and arrogant indeed. I love Sable's reactions, she is so human.

Another easy to read, smooth and very enjoyable book. I could read Larkin until the cows come home!

Another mystery solved by the Butterworth detective agency

Debra, Connie's daughter, asks her mother and aunt to investigate whether a friend's husband is having an affair. Before you know it there is a dead body. Can Connie and Sable find the culprit or will an innocent man be charged? DI Saffy McCue makes an appearance as well as some unsavory characters. An enjoyable read.

A good cozy.

This is a book about a pair of sisters and their detective work. All the best characters in the book are women. It is nice to older women as well. What I took away from this book is , " Follow your gut and your heart!

Well throughout mystery with good flowing dialog and scenes. I enjoyed interaction between the two main characters, they were charming. A delightful mystery.

Very good story.

Really simple but good...seriously, you won't be able to figure out who killed the dead person till the end. I enjoy this series...it's a little silly at times but still a good story. I do recommend it.

Loved this latest Butterworth mystery. Connie and Sable are at their best in this newest mystery. The ladies work hard to prove that the accused is not guilty even when all the evidence points to him. You won't be disappointed when you read this one.

Great book

Another great book. I have read several books in this series and have enjoyed them all. If you like a good wholesome mystery then this is for you. It is a quick read with believable characters . Can't wait to read more from this author..
